What?
I haven't had fun moments like I had in Hardline since the BC days

Weapon balance was terrible, maps were terrible, and TTK was too low. There was also a complete lack of teamwork. It felt more like CoD with some vehicles thrown in than a Battlefield game. When I think about Battlefield (and I played them all since 1942). They are about large scale combat, vehicle combat, and teamwork.

Hm. New?

I really really hope whatever era they go with (wwI or WWII) that they bring back the destruction like it was in BC2.

I don't get why on earth after BC2 they decided to stop allowing for as much and made things indestructible, imo that hurt it and made things feel "off" about the series.

Also hope they give us some depth to the gameplay, after playing Battlefront I need something that has depth and strategy and takes time to learn and get good at.

IE - No mini-maps, I hate mini maps and it has ruined MP focused games imo the ability for people to magically know where you are instead of you know....seeing you or hearing you.

From the rumors it doesn't even sound like Battlefield proper... I'm not hyped at all unless this turns out to be Battlefield 5 by DICE Stockholm.

Star Wars Battlefront is the perfect example that dropping the campaign does not mean that devs will suddenly make a better MP game. So if they make it MP only, it's very likely that this just means that you will get less game for the same price.

There would definitely be a massive, negative backlash, and probably also negative reactions by the critics.

There will be negative reactions from critics if they put as much content as they did in Battlefront launch day.

What does this mean? The Stockholm team has been on the game in full since Battlefront released, and probably had smaller teams working on it well before then.

Star Wars BF didn't bomb but look how massive the drop was with the community. Some people, like it or not, like playing SP campaigns. And i dont mean 3 minute "missions".

I think you are a little mistaken here in that a MP game with SP will only effect the intial launch phase and allow it to have a bigger unit sold.

But SP has very little bearing on the long term longevity and the natural drop of the MP portion of the game.

I mean look at the massive drop that H5 has had.

That's only a year of full hands on. I have no idea what their team structure is or team size... like I said, I'm cautiously optimistic. Hardline was such a huge letdown.

You cannot compare Hardline to a DICE Battlefield product just because EA slapped the 'Battlefield' name on it.

DICE Stockholm is the proper Battlefield studio, which is why I'm cautious because I don't know if it's Stockholm doing this title... because I don't know it's them, I fear another Hardline lol.

It's already been confirmed that this is from Stockholm.

Hmm, the two people mentioned in the Gamespot report are at Stockholm. Oh damn, now I'm excited!

DICE Stockholm is a pretty large studio, as far as I know; I would not be surprised if they've had a small team at least concepting this game since BF4 came out (maybe even before) and have been shifting more people onto it as their other projects were wrapping up.

Halo dropped but most games that arent COD drop. Im positive halo5 is doing better than 4 and most other at this time. Just look how much SW:BF dropped compared to BF4, which still has a higher population than it, with its terrible SP and it came out in 2013. Look how Titanfall dropped, look how R6 barely even took off. I cant think of one console game thats bare-bones that actually did really well population wise compared to those that arent.

Hmmmmmm, you are certainly right about the COD comparison and content. Especially COD,which has content beyond competitive PvP to keep a wide variety of players.

But there remains a desticntion between a low populated game and a dead one.

In that regard I dont think we have to worry about any of the games you mentioned until their inevitable sequel comes out to kill it. They'll always have a small contingent of die hard fans.

Yeah there will always be servers so to speak. Personally Ive always expected a bit more from games that didn't have SP components just because i figured: hey, they can focus on giving us an amazing MP experience with more content right out of the box. Turns out, we get the same shit we would have gotten had the game shipped with a SP, only we dont get that SP campaign, we dont get more polish, more refinement, more maps, we get the same shit weve always gotten. Same season passes, same prices, same bugs, only with less overall content.

At that point, id rather they put in even a crappy SP experience if they're going to make me pay full price for a game that has half the content, not many more MP maps and pretty much none of the benefits of not having to work on a SP.

edit: with all their faults, 343i to me is the company that is doing this the best with halo5. No one is on their level when it comes to value for price. No one.

man i been on gaf all day waiting for this. Another week?

Would be awesome if they went after what MAG was doing. With 256 player battles. That would be epic in a ww1 settling.

Lmao... what value? Cutting every mode and feature and adding them back with "free updates" ...
But that halo 5 is another topic and doesnt belong in here :)

I would love to have a new ww2 shooter. been rewatching band of brothers and I def have a craving for more ww2 right now.

I reeeeeally hope the won't pull a CoD announcement and say "MP footage at E3 in 5 weeks!". Just show me how it looks like with a glimpse of gameplay and end it with one of those spectacular DICE montages and I'll be one happy rabbit.

Battle rabbit, that is!

SW:BF's lack of a single-player had nothing to do with its multiplayer community dying.

I'll play it. But I don't want to be forced to play through some pos campaign again just to unlock a gun or two in multiplayer. The point system in the campaign in BF4 made it a deterrent to finishing it. Judge us on accuracy or time of completion, please.
