I think DICE is just happy that we still don't know what the setting is and they are having a blast teasing us before the reveal. Honestly, not knowing what it is makes the lead up to the reveal so much more fun.

I agree here. Very excited to learn the setting.

I never thought I would just completely skip a BF game, but after doing so with Hardline I am eager to get back. This is the series I've put the most hours into after Halo... Hope DICE delivers the goods.

The biggest reason I want a historical setting is to hear what their audio team does with it. Audio got a huge upgrade this gen, and a WWII setting could sound incredible.

Thinking about the ww2 era is the lack of helicopters, i'm a fan of helicopters in bf3/4 and i can't play a next battlefield without helicopters.A fictional ww2 with vietnam helicopters would be ok for me.

Also, really hoping that Battlelog is a bit better...it's basically impossible to use the "quick match" options for BF4 and I hate server browsers.

I don't understand how people can still say things like "but im so burned out on WW2!" It's been like 8 years since we had a AAA world war 2 FPS.

That's part of what makes the setting appealing. Less reliance on spray and pray automatic weapons and more emphasis on single shot weapons where you have to make your shots count.

Lol, overwatch, they don't need to worry about that one. Example, I played for a few hours with friends and we uninstalled and cancelled preorders for it.

I just hope BF5 is not current, near future, or future. Would prefer WW2, WW1 is acceptable as is Vietnam.

Wouldn't older weapons have worse spray? I mean it's not like weapons got worse? (I'm seriously asking, I have no idea about weapons)

I also don't think even if they did go back, they'd have automatic weapons fall way to single shot ones... it would probably be balanced.

I done care what the setting is, as long as they fix the (literal) scale in the game so that we're not playing as Pygmy soldiers in scaled down vehicles. That aspect of BF3 and BF4 still grates with me. Reduce the FOV slightly if you need to, just fix the damn scale. It's so noticeable going from BFBC2 to the later games and waters down the whole battlefield experience.

Old timey? What the heck do you think they used in WWI? It's not the bloody revolutionary war lol.

WWI had Shotguns, SMG's, MG's, sniper rifles, semi and full auto rifles, melee weapons (everything from bloody maces, knives, to shovels were used), to artillery, horses, tanks, and airplanes.

Basically almost everything you can get in WWII in terms of gameplay, you can get in some form in WWI.

Also for those who might not know much about WWI, it wasn't simply a bunch of trench warfare. Trench warfare was a western front thing, the entire eastern front never devolved into that kind of fighting.

You had fighting in many varied environments, from deserts, to forest, to ice and snowy mountains (Where avalanches caused a whole mess of things, still to this day the most number of people lost to avalanches during war is WWI).

EA has Star Wars and Titanfall for Future and Scifi stuff.

Bf4 still sucks so much imo. Balancing,maps, damage model... Bf3 was awesome. Bc2 was awesome. And the Vietnam addon was unbelievable good.

Ww1 wasn't that interesting imo while ww2 had already great weapons, gear and vehicles.

There would have been already 10 great big ww1 games if ww1 would be a good era for a multiplayer game.

Also, boring trench warfare etc.. ww2 is just better in every way imo.

This was confirmed to be fake. This goes for every other leaked image of BF5 as well. The only potential info we have is that Swiss retailer leak about it being set in WW1 and insiders saying that it's an alternate take on that war.
