Winston seems really, really bad.

I thought the same the first few times I played him, but then started to get the hang of him and he soon became my favorite tank. He's a harasser more than anything, but you can really wreck a team's entrenched defenses with a well-timed jump and well-placed shield. Electrocute a couple enemies and then have your team rush in, mop up and cap the point.

He was at one time considered the best tank in the game but a nerd to his shield brought him down to be more in line with the others. Still a great hero though and extremely powerful in the right situations.

This game is fucking amazing. I haven't played a multiplayer game that grabbed me like this so quick since probably the first Gears of War. The visuals are amazing and controls really well. Definitely picking is up in a couple weeks. My only gripe is playing with randoms and people not picking characters based on the team needs...

TF2 syndrome. It's unavoidable in games like these, unfortunately.

Here's an odd couple of questions about the PC codes, that i doubt can be answered. So i apologise in advance.

The early access code you're given don't have any goodies tied to them, do they. ?
Also, are the codes "tagged" as it were and will show up on their system who uses which ones. ?

The reason i asked is, i fucked my second code that was the "friend's one". And i'm concerned that the one that is designated for me will have some significance in the future. So i'm worried about giving it away.
ty. Is there cross-play?
No. Sorry.

Is Play of the Game still mostly based on just killing/scoring? I have yet to get one as Mercy despite pulling off amazing feats, being in the top 4 players and getting epic commendations on a regular basis.

Like for example, I could pull off a clutch 3x teammate resurrect that ends up winning the match, yet the game prefers to award it to a guy who gets an uneventful double kill.

Nope. Balance on consoles is different to accomodate controllers.

It's mostly solved once you're queueing ranked. Honestly, the addition of ranked play made all of these issues I had in quick match dissolve in the beta, it lets you be more casual and experiment in quick play without feeling bad, and on the same token it's a lot easier not to get mad since I can play competitive when I want to take it hyper seriously.

Have you guys read about Soldier 76's awesome origin story? Not within the game lore, but within Chris Metzen's head? It's rad.

Soldier 76 is Overwatch‘s trusty Shoot Man. He’s a gruff gunner whose abilities aren’t quite as outlandish as other members of Overwatch‘s cast. At times, it almost feels like he’s meant to poke fun at today’s crop of grimly serious murder bro FPS main characters. As it turns out, though, Soldier 76 was originally a comic book concept dreamed up by Blizzard lore master Chris Metzen more than a decade ago. He made his first official appearance in July 2004 as part of a comics anthology called Digital Webbing Presents #16.

“The story is about a weathered American soldier returning home after many years to find his homeland fractured by the second American Civil War,” Metzen said at the time. “Ultimately, he must make peace with the ghosts of his past before he chooses sides and restores the American Dream.”

Essentially, the character — S:76 — is an old super soldier (there was a whole series of them – though the term ‘super soldier’ will likely NEVER be used). These guys had special micro-chips implanted in their brain stems that regulate their autonomic systems — giving them sporadic boosts of speed, endurance, aggression and strength. Anyway, 76 was left behind on a botched assassination mission over thirty years ago. Wounded and alone he has wandered the seedy back-alleys of South America as an amnesiac ever since. The government has presumed him dead all these years.

While he was away — America devolved into a war-zone. The nation (for a number of reasons — rampant domestic terrorism being a biggie) lost all sense of itself as the Second American Civil War erupted between the Federal controlled east and a loose conflagration of western states. The country is in chaos. Race riots and worse are erupting in every major population center. Things are not good. As fate would have it, our hero finds his way home to a very different America than he knew. Still suffering from amnesia, he must attempt to come to terms with his shadowed past in order to chose the right side to fight for.

Yikes. Team work is a rare thing on console as well as common sense.

The game is a blast though. Love how all the heros feel so different. Worth $80 Canadian for mp only? Ehhhh maybe.

That feeling when you clutch out a win at the last possible moment and your aim was 100% but a Bastion that got 3 kills with his ult gets POTG

yeah healers get no respect and actual outplays are never shown as play of the game.

its just a bunch of d.va replays because she used her mech suicide thing. zzz.

Remember guys I made a ps4 gaf community called Overwatch GAF Squad :). So it'll ve easy to find other gaffers playing and team up :)

Winston seems really, really bad.

Winston is played a lot in the pro scene. He's a hard counter to defensive heroes like Bastion, Torbjorn, and Widowmaker with his ability to jump on top of them and fuck em' up. If you're playing him as anything other than a pure tank and initiator, then you'll probably find his damage lacking and feel kind of useless.

I'm really enjoyed Symmetra and Zenyatta, way more than I thought I would. Clever turrets and her lock on wep are so good, and Zenyattas orbs are so fun to manage. With Discord on someone he does some pretty good damage too.

I am confused as heck.

I got a beta email a few weeks ago but didn't have time to play then.

I just logged into my account and it shows overwatch on it and says "beta, status: Active."

So I figured that meant I was still in it. I downloaded the game and then when I went to play it said no license found and won't let me login the actual game.

What the heck? So am I NOT in the beta or what?

Thanks for the tips. Going to try playing him more and see if I can't find my groove with him.

The closed beta (which is what you got invited to) is done and over. Whats going on right now is preorder early access for the open beta that starts in a couple days.

How my Mercy games tend to go:

Molested by Tracer/Genji/Reaper while teammates don't pay attention around them
Turning a corner and getting one shot by Widowmaker/Hanzo before I realize they're there
Ult'd by Pharah

The occasional game where my team protects me makes it fun but there are so many infuriating matches.

Will progress carry over to the official release or there will be a wipe?

Wipe according to the official FAQ. Although gold did not wipe between the closed beta and the open beta...so maybe that will stay? Who knows. Everything else for sure wiped.

Wasn't really sure what to expect from the game, but I certainly did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I thought it would be more moba-esque, and I'm really glad it isn't. I much prefer these objectives.

The characters are interesting and varied, and the maps are good so far. I've used D.Va the most, but haven't decided on a main. I reckon I'll have a few based on my mood. Bonus points for the Greek map, which got me extra hype.

It also scales well on non-gaming PCs. My gaming PC is in the bedroom, where my girlfriend sleeps during most of my gaming hours, but this ran fine on my MacBook Pro (via Bootcamp) at ~Medium settings and, due to its art style, it still looked good.

I went from knowing next to nothing about the game to definitely purchasing it on day one. Blizzard delivers again.

Went in thinking i would main Tracer or D.Va, then i spent most of my matches playing Reinhardt.

Love tanking with him when you have a solid team of support behind you. So much fun to be that wall others can rally behind.

I actually got a mercy play of the game for mass rezzing after a dva suicide attack. We managed to save the point. Fun game.

I just hope pubs learn about team comps quickly. I'd like to do something other than tank or heal one of these days.

Overwatch Optimization is much better than I expected.

It runs really well on HP star wars laptop. (i5-6200U, DDR3 8GB, GT940M, SSD). It runs 30 fps on my setting. Default settings on my laptop was 1600x900 resolution, Low settings and 30 frame lock enabled.

I'll buy this game as soon as I get my budgets.
