Uncharted 4 review embargo lifts May 5 at 12 AM PST

My biggest issue with U3 was the enemy placements and combat scenarios were way too over the top and littered with bullet sponge enemies with rocket launcher. The battles were too "noisy" and not intimate enough. It resulted in it being a chore tbh but when it was just regular enemies is was really fun.

I loved the story and its direction until it was clear the actors had other obligations which isn't fair to the ND guys, can't pin that on them too much.

Set pieces were absolutely brilliant though as were the graphics and locations.

It never happens to the extent of a Zelda or Naughty Dog game. And I say that as someone who ranks Wind Waker and The Last of Us in my top 20 games ever.

Yes, because those particular franchises have garnered far more fandom and extreme positive acclaim, so naturally people have more of a reaction or opinion towards outlier negative scores, from all sides, fans and detractors alike. You can see above that many people aren't even excited for or interested in the game, but are just in it to draw entertainment from any potential controversy. Add in all the different factors and obviously such threads can sometimes get a bit more...eventful.

Having said that, I'd say the angst towards Jeff and Angry Joe with the recent Quantum Break reviews lent to similar reactions and attacks, but honestly I feel like I see it with most major exclusives. The more outlier or harsh a review, the more of a reaction there tends to be.

I'll probably stay up a bit for this, hah.

Its pure shit posting for one. And hoping a game fails so you can get a chuckle is as sad as it gets.
That's where the list is failing. Not everyone on there wants bad reviews or the game to fail. It's a poor attempt at making a new wall of shame. Might as well include everyone who plans on going into the review thread on there

That's the heart of it really. And the fear that somebody is going to quote-mine your history faster than you can say 'Jack Robinson' to see how you reacted to review threads for games on the systems you prefer, and really really hoping you've been consistent.

I'm not entirely sure what you're implying here

The Order thread was worse than anything before it. Happens to every game. There are some in there, who might not publicly acknowledge it, but there are some that just want to watch the game fail for fanboyish reasons too (Xbox fanboys, Nintendo fanboys, PC fanboys, ND detractors) - aka the opposite of ND fanboys. It's not a one way street.

Agreed. Same thing I can't deal with people in random thread "I don't care about Platinum/FROM games... but I want <favorite publisher> to buy them just to see the meltdown". Best thing is to ignore them

It wasn't intended to shame, though a few quotes in there are certainly poor form. I made a post a moment earlier about how I suspect more people will quote the rare meltdown post than there will actually be meltdowns, because that's what many people want to see, and what some people are exclusively there to see. The list of quotes was just to highlight the sheer number of people who are excited for meltdowns or controversy, and how as a result any controversy is likely going to be exasperated and inadvertently make for a far worse overall review thread, with less actual constructive discussion.

Every one isn't going into the review thread hoping for meltdowns. I don't really care as I will admit it can be funny watch people lose their shit over a game, but don't try to paint it as anything but negativity.

that's what I thought until other folks started implying weird things about it and calling it another wall of shame.

It wasn't intended to shame anyone.
When you group people that are generally excited for a review thread, and are just stating what the thread will be like inevitably as there will be controversy for one reason or another and include them with other people who are wishing for the game to get bad reviews or fail to create meltdowns and that controversy, it does come off as shaming (it is shameful to me to be grouped in along with people who wish for certain games to fail or get bad reviews). And people inferred it to be that way even giving it the title of WOS 2.0.

Not everyone in that list/group is going there for the meltdowns either.

Anyone else still trying to play through one of the other games before playing this one?

I'm going to get this day 1, but I still really want to play through UC2 and UC3 Remastered before getting to UC4, which will probably take about 2 weeks. I'm planning on being way more conservative with my internet browsing until I complete UC4.

I had planned to do that when I bought the collection in December...I never did. I've already played them all before though so I won't be lost.

As a short reminder, NeoGAF predicts an average (median) of 93,5 (as of 9h ago, based on 139 predictions at that time).

Wonder if this game will be able to live up to the hype!

Phew, managed to beat the game in time for the reviews. I'm expecting pretty great reviews across the board.

Do you know if you have to beat it on hard to unlock crushing, or is it there straight away?

Apparently, unlocked from the start. It's greyed out but you can select it. It'll ask if your sure or not.

Thanks!

Every one isn't going into the review thread hoping for meltdowns.

I wonder if the people who want a meltdown, will have a meltdown, if there's no meltdown over reviews. Would make for a great twist.

Me too. I played through UC2 and UC3 a long time ago. I only played through UC1 fairly recently, and doing so gave me a new appreciation for the story and characters. (since I had started from the beginning and all).

I'm still deciding on what I should actually do... Maybe I'll just play through UC2.

After TFA and seeing the lengths some people will go to ruin and spoil the fun for others, it wouldn't surprise me if someone made an alt. account for the sole purpose of ruining the game for some people in the review thread :/ I'll be really careful.

Uncharted 4 is a disappointment compared to the other installments. those looking for a great game this month are better off buying quantum break

the fact that you are going to bring it up in the review thread just keeps other members on their toes with what they say

with the exception of juniors that don't care

An alt? That'd be a pretty fucking long con.
