Pokémon Sun and Moon Starters Revealed. Releases November 18th 2016.

I'm more concerned about when we get Soar.

...Actually, I'm making the assumption that we get Soar, and that might not be a safe assumption to make. But it damn well should be. Soaring across the new archipelago would be the best.

I wouldn't be surprised if that mechanic came back. There was an in engine model of how the region looked from above in the trailer, not unlike how Hoenn looked while soaring. Maybe they'll put that overhead region model to use and re-implement that mechanic. Soaring was pretty fun, so I'd hate for it to be a one game thing.

I'd love for soar to be back. They should probably make it so that isn't tied to the Latis though, hm. I mean it's just fancy flying.

So... what are we expecting from CoroCoro now?

All I want from now until release is the middle and last stage of evolutions for the starters.

Everything else is a bonus. New Mega's, new Pokémon, new evolutions to old Pokémon, and new game mechanics would be a bonus.

What I don't want. The story and region to be spoiled or in depth preview of them.

What are the chances for a demo and time frame for the demo to be released?

So PokéGaf, what do you want to see and not see from now until telease?

And Mega Vaporeon needs to happen. Hell, give a mega to each eeveelution after adding a few more of those.

I'm actually more on board with this idea than I thought I would be. One item (Eeveeite - maybe the ugliest word I will ever type - or whatever) could work across all of them, and new Abilities could potentially make the runts of the litter (yes you, Flareon) viable competitively.

Don't need much, I'd like to go in as fresh as possible. It'll be hard enough already with the later EU release.

But I really want them to give us a rough estimate of the amount of new Pokemon. I remember being disappointed with X/Y's mostly because I was expecting more. I would've been more okay with it if I had known early on there'd be less.

This will be the generation where they introduce more than 2 types. So Mega Eevee is every type. Bam.

I expect we'll get the names of the legendaries and maybe their typing and nothing more in this months CoroCoro.

Between now and release I expect we'll see the second stage of the starters, a new Eevee (if there is one in the game), some first stage Pokemon, and maybe some full stages of early route Pokemon. Even if they add new megas (I hope not) then I think they'll keep those secret to let us discover them.

I'd expect the major new game mechanic to also be announced

I'd like for them to reveal a new feature, like Pokéathlon/Competitions/Musicals/Pokéstar. Maybe not with the upcoming CoroCoro, but at some point before the release.

I hope whatever mythos they use for this game they don't go super overboard. A Pokemon super weapon is a bit whack even after DPPT and RSE lol. Gen 5 they kind of scaled back.

I want meaningful new mechanics that actually excite me about the game and make me want to play it to be shown, and enough details about the story to know it's something that feels fresh and not formulaic.

I don't think we got X and Y evolutions until the game was released.

I think the 3rd legendary (Marshadow) will be aquatic to fit in with the land (Solgaleo) and air (Lunaala) triangle and eclipse-themed (sun + moon).

Im gonna spoil it for you right now because im a dick. You see that guy that looks suspicuous?

Yeah that guy wants to rule the world via stealing, abusing and/or manipulating pokemon. Why? Because hes a dick.

Prove me wrong gamefreak. Prove. Me. Wrong.

This is just one island of several, and it's not the biggest one.

Let's also not forget the fancy resort and the motel from the announcement video. Those don't seem to fit anywhere on the island.

I would prefer Game Freak to abandon the "Team ______" paradigm. I think the predefined, structured nature of the plot limits their creativity. If that element were removed, I think we could see some really great stories.

I think it'll probably be earth themed.

Somebody should look up Hawaiian mythology to see if there's any Moon and Sun legends the game might be based on.
I'd do it my self, but finals week begs to differ

It'll probably be purple and white.

Yes, like the great French snake that guards the world tree.

To be fair France used to be home to a Germanic people.

I've heard that grass is either pre-historic, or the evolution of animals/mammals. Water is based on either different types of armour/weapons, or fully aquatic animals.

I don't have a chart or anything for these. Some of the starters support these theories, and others not so much (especially the new gen).

Grass are reptiles, dinosaurs and with this and last gen, woodland creatures. You could argue Snivy counts as towards the third category as well.

Think about everything kids have access to for free nowadays thanks to smart phones. If they get lost instead of looking it up they'll probably stop playing altogether. Ideally they would include an optional guide feature to help these players out like other Nintendo games instead of revolving the entire game around them though.

I don't think that's a good explanation, even with mobiles and instant-gratification stuff available, video games are still very popular. You don't need to instantly overhaul your design philosophy just for the sake of competition, otherwise, you start to lose what makes Pokemon special and fun. Though that means GameFreak needs to admit that perhaps kids aren't their only demographics and open up the potential for players of all ages.
