Hunts or Heinz?

Sunday, after our weekly grocery run, I was unloading the haul and noticed Hunts had been purchased instead of Heinz ketchup. I was speechless. I thought it was understood in pretty much every household across the globe that Heinz is by far the superior condiment and Hunts is the equivalent of rotting whale bile.

I questioned the buyer and apparently it was purchased because "it was on sale."

I'm not normally quick to anger, but I could feel my temper building. I wasn't mad at her, but more the grocery store for even stocking such crap and having the gall to put it on sale to entice unwitting patrons.

Hunts is so terrible. Didn't save money at all, now you just have an on sale bottle of ketchup that will either be thrown out, or just sit in the fridge for all eternity as people pass it over. heinz all the way.

I don't know if I've ever had Hunts ketchup, although most of the knockoffs I've tried (especially the organic varieties) taste awful. Either too sweet or not sweet enough, to the point where it's like smearing tomato paste on my stuff.

Aylmer's ketchup is one of the only kinds I've had that tasted similar enough to Heinz that it was palatable. Haven't seen it in years, though - I'd imagine few people would take the chance (and I don't blame them).

French's.

Heinz closed all their factories in my area so fuck them.

This. French's ketchup for me too. Since Heinz closed their operations in Leamington Ontario, and switched to Mexican tomatoes, French's has picked up the slack and is using Canadian tomatoes. I actually prefer it to Heinz, so win/win.

Heard about this last week for the first time, and I might consider switching to French's now. Ive gone with Heinz mainly because Costco carries it and its dirt cheap.

Why would people ever buy Hunts. I thought it might be because it's cheaper, but it's the same price basically.
