I agree that Siobhan needs to cut the screaming out. Not because it bothers me, but because Lambert showed that it will keep you from winning.
Can we bring back Allison, or some other former contestants who would be way ahead this year?

So let me get this straight... this is #1 from the billboard week, pick any #1 hit from thousands of songs, and one damned contestant picked a song from the last 5 years? One?!
What Simon said at the end of the show summed it up perfectly, tonight was a big disappointment (though every night generally is), but even if they had Crystal singing every song chosen the show would have sucked, because these people cannot pick songs to save their lives!
It would go a great deal to start by picking songs that came out after they were born, preferably in the last couple years. No one want to hear Huey Lewis or Marvin Gaye or any of that other crap from the 50-80s for the most part.
Crystal wins the night for me, and I still hate her (slightly less). There just wasn't any one else who I could say was better with a straight face.

Aaron Kelly is the best guy by far.

I decided to review Idol's worst show yet! 
1. Crystal (7/10) - Very satisfying performance. Despite her being absolutely predictable week after week and doing the same coffee house musical numbers, she's still good.
(tie) 2. Casey (6/10) - Vocally very pleasing. Definitely has some gruff in his voice and uses it appropriately. I don't think he can do much better because I'm still not blown away.
(tie) 2. Mike (6/10) - Poor man's Ruben, I'd say. Very smooth vocal, although he stayed in the same low octave the whole way through. He definitely should have kept the arrangement simple and intimate by ditching the band and staying with the piano (as Simon suggested). Also, when he tried to get higher in key, it sounded incredibly forced.
(tie) 2. Didi (6/10) - Meh...even though she was very pitchy, it was kind of a cool song and her tone always makes everything she sings kind of interesting.
(tie) 5. Lee (5/10) - Very middle of the road. Just OK.

(tie) 5. Siobhan (5/10) - Very strange song choice. I definitely think that she was lacking the soul power required to pull off that song. It was OK but the screams aren't pleasing at all. Overall, I think that she's incredibly overrated.
(tie) 5. Katie (5/10) - P-I-T-C-H-Y. From the first note to the last note. If she didn't have a distinctive tone and a sort of big voice, she'd be a lot worse. Fortunately for her, it creates a great distraction.
9. Tim (4/10) - I didn't see his entire performance but what I did see was pretty bad.
10. Andrew (3/10) - Abysmal song choice; definitely didn't suit him in any fashion. He appeared drunk through most of it, stammering and stumbling during the performance literally and vocally.
11. Paige (2/10) - Certified trainwreck. Everything was just horrible. Can it all be attributed to her recent bout of laryngitis? Maybe but it definitely took a toll on her voice this week. No redeeming qualities about this performance whatsoever. The in key notes could be counted with one hand.

Overall I'm really disappointed in her after tonight. Terrible outfit, terrible hair, and the vocals were a little too predictable. I think she sang it fine, it just didn't move me at all. She really has to step it up if she wants to compete with casey and crystal. She can still go a lot further. There's still a few performances she's done in my mind that put everything she's done on American Idol so far to shame. She's really pushing the punk look, and I really just don't like it. She looks so much hotter with it straight like when she sang think and house of the rising sun.

Haven't seen the show yet, but there's no such thing as a performance worse than when that Country chick from a couple years back did "Eight Days a Week," both in a weird country style AND sped up to double time.

Siobhan's best note of the night wasn't her uncanny heights, but the one low, solid and beautiful note in the middle. So well supported and full.

I don't know if there's ever been a season of Idol in which one contestant is so clearly in a different league above all the others. Granted this is a terribly weak field this year but Bowersox would be a force to beat in any season. As it is, she's just making everyone else look like the amateurs they so clearly are.

Top 4 for last night in descending order:
Crystal- another solid performance. She's a consistent, seasoned pro. And I think the bit about the rug won her some votes, it's good to see her having fun.
Casey- Yeah, it was soundalike, but he sang it well & I thought it worked. He needs to move around more though.
Lee- finally starting to show some confidence.
Siobhan- yeah, it's time to dial it back a bit. She has a great voice but the scream is getting cliche.
Michael's next- he's got a decent voice & a great personality & stage presence but it was kinda boring.
Aaron was pretty good too, he has a way to go but a decent performance.
Didi was thrown under the bus. That wasn't nearly as bad as the judges made it out to be. Not saying it was all that great either, though.
Katie finally looked her age & sang the right song, but it was soooooo off-key. She needs a lot of practice.
Andrew has finally been convinced by the judges that he sucks. Bad song choice, bad phrasing, awkward stage presence. He's actually a lot better than that, but week after week of getting slammed by the judges has destroyed his confidence.

Crystal does truly rock, and I think she's definitely the best of this year's crop. But I find it really obvious that she sang a Janis song. I mean, it's like having 10 monkeys and 1 fish in a competition, and then saying "OK, guys! Let's have a SWIMMING contest! Omygod! The fish WON!"
I am getting a sort of "ringer" vibe for her. I think the judges are protesting too much with the whole 'you don't have this sewn up' thing.
For instance, last week it seemed completely plausible to me that the producers told the contestants, "All right. Everyone pick from the Rolling Stones. Not so fast :INSERT NAME HERE: 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' is off the listbecause it's CRYSTAL's! YAY!"
And then I realise I'm arguing about a stupid reality television show, and get back to what I'm doing. :lol

Bowersox was the winner this season before they even narrowed it down to 24. Clearly knows what's up.
The only knock against her is pretty much what Ellen said, which is that she's a fantastic artist, but the connection with the audience seems to be entirely one way.
Crystal seems concerned about herself and the song, and not so much about the fans.

1) Crystal - Good job.. She sang it well and is so smooth on the stage.. though I agree I'm getting sick of the coffee shop guitar nonsense.. She needs to do something else.. Sorry Simon you are wrong for her to keep doing 1 thing.
2) Lee - He was really good... The judges were right. No idea why people were hating agst him. He was out of breath at the end which did get to his vocals a tad but he is the best.
3) Casey - He was also really good but I'm sick of him not moving and sitting in 1 spot with a damn electric guitar..
4) Didi - I liked her a bunch. She isn't playing a role she was totally into the song. The judges were wrong about her. Good job for her
5) Siobhan - I liked her performance. The screaming is what she is known for which will kill her. She needs to just have 1 good slow song performance to wow people over.
6) Michael Lynch - Sounded smooth and good but hes just going to be Ruben 2.0 and sell ZERO records.
7) Aaron - Quit trying to fool us with your boring love ballads.. we get it.. you are a wuss.. It was meh at best

She needs a week where she can sing Jojo - Leave (Get out) She would NAIL that song. She has the perfect voice to match that type of artist.
