Michael: yawn
Didi: OK
Casey: yawn
Lacey: MEGA YAWN (is she doing this on purpose?)
Andrew: yawn...and his gruffy tone is getting exposed; he can only do so much with it.

Siobahn ... DAMN - Wow. She has such an insane range and can hold high notes for SO long.

Tim Urban was TERRIF***INGBLE

Lee was the best of the guys so far..

Paige pretty good.. Her voice is so strong. (wow and she is sick.. wow.. crazy)

Siobhan was fucking SCREAMING. She was even cracking AS she was screaming. Dunno what people are hearing in her. Seriously. I don't. Plus, I just figured out why I don't like her voice: she sounds like she is moaning every note.

Funny, I hate Crystal to death, and found Siobhan's performance the best of the night so far. Loved the whole performance, and the way she made the "paint it black" a miserable thing, like it was tearing her apart, and pulled it off very nicely. Go figure :lol

Just saw Siobahn's performance on youtube. Far and away the best of the night. Mimic, you crazy.

Just listened to it again just to be sure. She didn't need to go as high as she did, but it was still easily the best of the night.

My ratings:

Didi & Crystal: 7
Michael, Casey, Andrew, Katie, Pagie, Lee, Aaron: 6
Lacey & Tim: 5
Siobhan: 3 (sounded like she was getting stabbed in a horror movie)

Yep typical Crystal performance.. it was good but didnt wow me there.

Siobahn was the best.. Lee was also good... I dont see why anyone likes that little kid.. he sounds so meh.

Crystal, Siobahn, Lee, DiDi, and Casey were good tonight. Paige was also good.. They all were pretty safe

Except Tim

Bye Tim.

She definitely overdid that screaming thing.

I don't think the judges picked up on how bad that sounded to us at home.

Crystal has one of those styles which can fool you into thinking you're hearing something great regardless of how she's singing.

Can't Simon bring Lilly back? Plant drugs on Paige.

That Paint it Black was fucking terrible. She sounded like a muppet and screamed like a dying turkey.

This year is pretty terrible.

Did you see the whole thing? A clip at the end doesn't do it any justice.

I kinda dig the goth-lite aspect of it though, so I'm a little biased. I thought the way it started out making you feel like she was having to lose everything important to her "paint it black," (lose it) during the a cappella-ish beginning, then it went through something a little unique, she made an effort to not smile and look all happy while she sang the middle, fitting the theme perfectly, and ended in a smashing finale with the cliche screaming, but all in all, it was probably one of the few performances that was definetly more than just singing the song, which I enjoyed.

The year is awful I do agree.

Crystal just has this awful "I don't want to be here" personalty, for fuck's sake, smile, girl! I think she didn't even care last week when she made it to the top 12, she couldn't smile once during the results, or look happy.

And the kicker for her, for me, is when they aired her saying she has absolutely no interest in singing for anything other than getting money. True colors, and all that jazz. Maybe it's just poorly quoting her out of sentence, but don't say you don't care about anything but the money, when you're supposed to become an aspiring artist.

Yes, that's what my other post referred to when I said, "What in the hell was that?" To be fair, I like very few covers of Paint it Black because the original to me is perfect in every way. But that version was one of the worst I've ever heard. I didn't like her tone at all....and her out of place scream was just jarring and, IMO, pointless and only done for some kind of shock value.

It's because Crystal thinks she's better than the show and doesn't appear to appreciate the opportunity in the least.

The worst part of tonight is imagining how awesome Lilly and Adam would have been for this theme especially.

I think she broke a little on the scream, but overall I was blown away by Siobhan's performance. Her theater background is really coming through when you look at the lighting and sound design for that piece. The contestants are working with the lighting and sound designers a lot more now, and have a lot more options, and it fucking shows. Siobhan really used all the resources available to put on one hell of a performance. Before I heard it, I was worried about the song choice, but I don't know why I ever doubted the girl, she always delivers in spades. Sorry to the people that don't like her, but she's as good as they come, so if you don't like her then you probably should just skip this season.

I like Siobhan the best, but she definitely cracked during her scream (yes, I think she's screaming). Adam Lambert definitely did long-ass glory notes much better. Oh well, she's the least boring contestant of the 12 though.

You aren't biased or anything.

Vocally a little shaky at parts but she actually had a much more challenging song than anyone else. Also, she was still better than what the others were doing. I really enjoyed the way she arranged and presented it....she made some nice choices (her finishing glory note/scream terminating well after the music). Still getting a little too much of a "lambert-lite" vibe...but overall pretty impressive.

Crystal was good as well.

Urban needs to go now. Then Paige. Then Garcia. Then Aaron. Then Katie. Any way to fast forward this thing?

Bottom 3 (so far): Paige & Tim
Safe (so far): Siobhan, Aaron, Lee & Andrew

I pick Lacey to go. Seriously....who is still voting for her?

That chick sucked. I hate it when artists suck when they sing their own songs live.

What are the details of this save thing?

Must be used before the Top 5 and it has to be a unanimous decision (meaning, if Simon wants you back for teh drama, you're back).

The only people who deserved it based on their singout last year were Alexis (judges probably thought it was too early) and Allison (couldn't be used).

Good to see Crystal playing the game.

Small wonder is gonna short circuit from all that contradictory advice.

best bottom 3 ever?

All my pool points riding on Lacey. This chick has GOT to go tonight.

And Ellen's "should we save anyone in this group?" answer was great :lol

I totally have a crush on that chick. Dark-haired, quirky, asexual chicks are my achillies heel.

YES

Good that they can pick their song for the save. It makes more sense than singing the song that got you in that position in the first place.

HOW was Ke$ha?

THAT WAS THE WORST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD

Playing guitar does not = cred. That song sounded like Stock Aitken Waterman ate Ashlee Simpson and shat out something they didn't like.

It's a great strategy by AI producers. Keep putting Kesha on every week and the current contestants will seem amazing.

When I was watching, I thought it was Lilly Scott, and wondered why she was sucking so hard. I thought it was her "save" song and she was blowing it.

I think you're confusing the two performers. Ke$sha didn't have a guitar - she just danced poorly and kicked dudes dressed up as tvs. Yeah....

Edit edit. OH SHIT WHO ARE THESE TWO FUCKS RAPPING WAT

EDOT: FUCKING VILLAGE PEOPLE HEAD DRESS

What the hell is going on in this thread. Who got kicked off? Lacey? Good. That was a complete butchering of a great song.

The AI band/whatever sucks total ass by the way. Their sound mixing is so fucking horrible, there are no words. I laughed when they were questioning what the Stones might think if they were listening to the reggae version.

Seeing David Cook made me remember what it was like to have actual talented contestants. I doubt we've seen even one performance that was equal to one of his third or fourth best ones; one of those ones you don't remember.

Haha I'm a fanboy through and through; even when it comes to American Idol I suppose. No point in trying to hide it. It's not like it's completely unfounded, I mean, the girl is pretty damn talented. I personally think her outfit was terrible, and I really don't like her with curly hair. It used to be long and straight, and I think she was so much hotter that way. She can still make it work short, but I think it should stay straight.

Also she held that final note way too long, I'm surprised the judges never mentioned it. It really cracked pretty bad. If she'd just cut it about 2-3 seconds earlier I would have considered it a near perfect performance, but shit happens.

Nah holding it that long was the best part...was like she was saying "i got something to say and F where the music is at!". Its the sort of creative license people should be looking for imo.

Then the transition to acapella from there was total lambert from last year (around 1:30) -
