Besides the fact they want to support 4K what other reasons my educated friend.
Just ignore him. I did.

They wouldn't be able to stop people from using other methods like using the edge browser for such things would they? Not related to porn but I often use sites through the browser to use web scrapers and watch movies on my tv just fine and I actually like it better using the X1 since there's less of a conern for malware and viruses etc.if the Scorpio will support Oculus natively, what does it mean in terms curating content? On PC, anything goes, but there's no way Microsoft would allow porn to be on the Xbox.
But what about the other things? Will it have Polaris like the Neo will probably have? I'm glad E3 is soon. Let's see if they are actually going to be talking about a brand new Xbox that is planned for 2017. Will that mean Neo get's a full year head start? Likely, because Sony will want to have that Neo out when PSVR releases.
The big question is that if MS is successful with the PC market playing along, how would Sony compete with that?

I doubt it will be that powerful unless they go for $500 again, which seems a little crazy.
I selfishly hope Neo is still more powerful so I can stay on the PS platform as my primary for longer, but I always focus my attention wherever games perform better, so Ill be paying close attention to this subject.

I don't even know what's happening anymore.
This console generation is such a technical mess... If it's true though, I'll probably finally have to buy Xbox...
PS4 Neo is being made specifically for VR because it wont be that good without it. Im not entirely sure, but Xbox seems to want a bigger leap than a .5 iteration, as Phil Spencer eluded to recently.
The comments were made by chief technical officer (CTO) working in the industry, talking to Edge Magazine in their latest issue. In issue 294, the source states: "PSVR was going to be terrible on a [launch] PS4. It was going to be truly awful. Something a bit more powerful starts to bring VR into range. If you want to deal with crazy requirements for performance in VR, you absolutely have to do this."

who says neo launches 2016 ?
You should actually read that thread. PSVR works exactly as advertised on just the PS4 console.
That isn't to say they are aiming for bigger and better things in the future and long-term support for PSVR, but to say that the Neo was created solely because the original PS4 couldn't handle it is nonsense. It's been demoed to thousands of people worldwide.
Not only that we also know that any game that's made for the neo has to work with the og ps4. Really getting tired of this argument considering multiple devs who are actually working on psvr games have shot it down numerous times. You should actually read that thread. PSVR works exactly as advertised on just the PS4 console.

Wouldn't the 1070 be able to handle at least 6? It's under 400, right?
GPU: RSX @550MHz
1.8 TFLOPS floating point performance
Full HD (up to 1080p) x 2 channels
Multi-way programmable parallel floating point shader pipelines

So if they allow web browsing with the Oculus on Scorpion which I imagine they would because I'm sure that would be a big deal for some I don't see how they could stop it. How would that relate to uwp apps from the store as well? I'm sure there would be plenty of apps that would give ways of doing so even if it's just media apps like Plex. With tv and one guide I would think there would be some sort of tv viewing functionality where any pay per view or even blue rays would be in play along with Skype. All things I think they would have to support for Occulus that I don't think they could stop people from doing alot of things not just porn. I could be wrong though I have an idea how all these things work but Im far from an expert.if the Scorpio will support Oculus natively, what does it mean in terms curating content? Nvidia TFlops does not equal AMD TFlops. Besides I'm not sure what the point is of using Passmark to compare GPUs.
impressions from gaffers who've had hands on experience and statements from psvr devs mouths tell a different tale my educated friend![]()
TFlops is a universal measurement.
EvB said:All da flops!
Am I right in saying that Sony says the PS3 has 1.8 a Teralops GPU?

Does this mean the PS3 is actually more powerful than Xbox One and PS4 is only less than 2% Floppier?
It can run on OG PS4, and he never said that nor did I? Neo was created specifically for PSVR though, as it is necessary for having a better experience.

Sony is more than happy to let its paid for exclusives land on PC (cause it would cost way too much for a full exclusive)
I've had hands on experience with the PSVR and it works great. At 20 minute intervals mind you but who knows what will happen with long use. Also during my use the graphics weren't totally hashed out but still looked solid. Comparing it to a Rift or Vive though is another thing though. It's definitely a dip in quality compared to those devices
wouldn't be so sure about that:
some devs are more impressed with psvr than those 2 you mentioned
here's one example:
So what happens to the Xbox One? The only reason I weren't to hot on PS4k cause I thought the OG PS4 would get left behind but the power jump isn't that big to be seen as a new generation.
This seems like a whole different jump tbh.
That's not how it works. Like at all. Neo was not made specifically for VR. It just runs "better" using it.

Dude just said he had personal experience and that's where his judgements are coming from. You're going to just say that his personal experience is blatantly wrong because someone on Twitter says differently?

no wasntt downplaying what he said just saying that these vr devices would be neck and neck in terms of quality. they each have their pros and cons. i just wanted to point out that in no way is psvr an inferior product
Worth noting he is VR experience developer, his whole business revolves around VR.
I think his opinion on what is going to be the largest scale VR launch is likely to be clouded by other factors.
Also, Sony is one of his clients.
It would also make the PSVR irrelevant in VR gaming
Are you an actual developer with PSVR SDK or are you another forum poster who doesn't know what the fuck he is talking about? Cause based on your posts, all signs point to the latter.PSVR won't work well on current consoles. That's a big reason for this new PS Neo
North America, UK possibly worldwide due to the upgraded specs. It trumps the Neo especially with the PC support. You can kinda see them merging PC and console gamers in one giant community with this strategy. Sony can't compete with that in the long run.
Our of interest, what kind of visual upgrade will a 6tf system have over a 4tf one?

This is a research chip out of MIT that's using PowerPC cores.
MS may be leveraging the research here for their components, specifically to better manage a multi-core processor.
No way they are going back to PowerPC for this next console though. That chip is not an indication of what will be in the hardware.
Look at current situation with xbox one vs ps4.
I fear for Nintendo & the NX. Seems they did miss the boat once more, in a major way.I wonder where this leaves NX however?
If NX is just about a PS4 level, Nintendo has missed the boat again big time.
