The Witcher III: Blood & Wine |OT| One last contract, one last plough

What the hell!?!?

Downloaded the DLC yesterday, Now in the download section it says I can play it, but I don't have it in my DLC section of the witcher, in fact in the game menu I can't access it and in store it says "buy for 19.99"...

What do I do? Where can I ask?

Ah it's good to be back.

Is that what the expansion looks like? Had my fingers crossed that unnatural color tweaking wouldn't be present in the final release :/

Also odd that the standalone installer for patch 1.21 is only 2GB but via the auto update on Galaxy is 5.4GB.

Ok, figured it out. I preordered and preloaded the game, but I don't know why it didn't take the money. So Now I bought it but I guess I have to download it again...

Edit: Nope, thank God I rebooted the PS4 and BaW is already installed.

Freaking finally, the code of the retail release with the Gwent decks worked this morning ... still, it's a strange decision to time-lock some DLC codes, while the expansion is buyable and playable via regular PSN purchase or season pass well ahead.

I'm not even "mad" because of not being able to play the expansion a day earlier, i was more worried that the code wouldn't work at all and the customer service hassle that would've followed.

Hmm, I don't know what build I want to use. I was a bit of an hybrid, with Griffin swords and Feline armor, but I don't like the hood on the grandmaster Feline armor. Maybe I should try an Ursine or Manticore alchemy build?

Toussant's saturation looks quite nice in motion. It's also very deliberate, to give the location a whimsical fairytale feel.

GOG Galaxy just seems to be endlessly downloading patches and files for B&W. Must have been over 25gb by now with 5 different downloads. Hopefully when I get home tonight I'll actually be able play.

I mean, I got that impression from the very first promo screens but unless there's some twist where it's revealed that it's all a dream the sky just isn't that color for example nor does it match the existing style.

I'll see how it fares once installed. Will probably find a mod if necessary.

Edit: nice screens :)

Back from my parents' tomorrow. My very high level, well geared Geralt is waiting in the tavern in Novigrad (I left him there after finishing hearts of stone, it seemed appropriate somehow). Time to strap the armour on again, one. Last. Time.

God I'm excited.

I've just started playing vanilla TW3, but there doesn't seem to be an active OT for it. Should I just discuss it here? Total noob though, with about 5 hours clocked so far. I played a little of The Witcher 2 on 360, but found it rather complex and only played maybe 2-3 hours.

There is an OT3 in Community which is active.

The Photo's Psuedo Name is "Bandit Brothers". The photo is of some soldiers from Bravo Battery 3/320th FA Red Night Rakkasans of the 101st I you have any interest in it. It's been used in everything from Glock ads, to US Army Recruitment, to video game covers, and all sorts of Internet photos. Pretty neat.

On topic, I'll look into finding some maps, looks like I already have a map for Cat armor and upgraded cat school... Can I go straight to the upgrades, or do they need to be done in order?

Thanks for the info!

And to make upgraded gear you need the base one first (it is one of the ingredients)

Damn this looks good! Too bad I can't even imagine when do I get to play it, since I've stuck for 2 weeks now on new game run.

Where is this gwent book? I can't seem to find it in my inventory or books tab.

"Tome in question can be obtained either from gwent playing scholar in Prologue or from merchant near St. Gregory's Bridge in Gildorf district of Novigrad."

They hid this in the 1.21 patch notes.

New interface is ugly as ass. It looks like something designed to run also on Window Phone devices.
Map and Quick Access Menu new features are good.
Enemy Level scaling is a godsend.

Ah, thank you! I mistakenly thought it would be automatically added to the inventory.

Is it the materials that are expensive or the actual money he charges for crafting?

Both. It's probably about 12000 just to craft the gear but there are some unique materials that you need for the gear as well that are very expensive. Overall I'm sure it has easily cost me 20,000+. With that said though, you may be hanging on to a lot of crafting materials that you may no longer need and those are worth quite a bit.

like, you don't need master items to create grandmaster items
might just dismantle it... or display it at your estate

Spoilers of the expansions story below:
Something I was wondering, when I was doing a scavenger hunt for 1 of the Grandmaster sets I
ran into a hooded woman that turned into a vampire and attacked me. I noticed these hooded women npc's walking around the main city and thought the npc name was a bit odd/suspicious. I'm relatively early into the story, just figured out what the monster is. But I was wondering since the story has vampire shit in it, are all these npc's walking around the town actually vampires?

When I started the game, a tax collector approached me before I've reached the billboard, I thought the game glitched and he was going to take my money away (I don't remember using a trainer or abused money glitches). I answered his questions truthfully, he then gave my an honorary tax payer certificate, and told me to frame it, what a relief!

If you used the money exploit from the vendor, he will always appear.

I cannot play the expansions since I have this personal hurdle on how to play them to overcome. Maybe you can give me some advice, GAF?

On the one hand I really played the hell out of the base game already and would like to see the expansions. However, I still need to get that Deathmarsh Achievement. I know it would be easiest way to do it in NG+, but I also would like to start from scratch since I am not into the whole stuff anymore and fancy collecting all that gear again…

I cannot decide whether to start a completely new game on Deathmarsh, a NG+ on Deathmarsh, continue my old save with the expanions and afterwards to an NG+ with the save or start all over again then.

I guess it is a bit of an arbitrary question and I should not think too much about it, but it really hinders me from starting this amazing game again!

You don't need any trophy to enjoy games. Play what you want to play, how you want to play when you want to play it.

Then, IMO NG+ comes really as an afterthought in this game. For me, it was really bugged and oddly difficult (my NG was already in DM) because for some reason my armors lvl went nuts after I launched the NG+.

I would say to go with a fresh start if you want to enjoy DM.

Thank you for your answer. So, besides of the achievement I am still wondering if I should continue with my finished save and play the expansions though I am completely out of the game or if I should start over... but then I will need like 150 hours to get to the point I can play the expansion :/

I loaded up my save yesterday and way quite a bit confused by all the gear and stuff I had in my inventory lol...

How hard is Reshade on Performence? Already just scraping by at 4K so don't have TOO much to spare.

Also is it difficult to install?

reshade has like 20+ different effects that you can activate. Some have pretty big hits on performance, like a bunch of different kinds of blooms or DOF camera blurs. Just color changes have little effect alone, but not one single color effect does the job by itself in my experience, so I end up using 3 at a time.

as for installation, if anything, the most difficult thing about it is finding the files, and if you are mixing things from different presets you find online making sure the are using the same names, etc. installation per se, you just drop it inside \The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64 and it works. You have to deactivate Game Overlay in the gog version or the loading times becomes a lot longer, or not work.
