The Witcher III: Blood & Wine |OT| One last contract, one last plough

Taking this slow and loving it.

Quest after quest is an interesting juxtaposition of Geralt's grumpy, pragmatic, but basically soft-hearted attitude and the expansive (but typically solipsistic and ineffectual) chivalric take on virtue. It's a great contrast, as much for the ways it makes him uncomfortable as for the many affordances for hilarious snark.

Have had a few irritating bugs though. E.g., in tourney melee, despite my team winning, and my landing most of the killing blows, always says the other team wins and their captain gets to go on to the 1v1 duel. Have tried reloading multiple times, always the same outcome. I'd even got Geralt's hair cut in the romantic long-loose style in preparation of his knightly triumph :-(

Is anyone trying to adjust the piss filter? I re-installed Reshade (causing crashing and freezes) to remove it, but removing colors obviously decreases brightness; lift-gamma-gain can brighten things up a bit. I am torn about it honestly, as I like the warm tone of the place, but it just needs a bit less yellow tint--especially the sun.

I managed to tone it down a bit and am pleased with the results. It still gets warm and yellow at sunrise/sunset but that's ok. The bloom gets increased a tiny bit but that sort of fits the area I think.

I got all the Grandmaster Wolven gear, finally. It looks nice and the stats are solid, but the bonuses aren't very special. I also got the schematics for the Manticore armor (which was a good quest too). And if you're looking for the black dye, the recipe is in Balstoy Prison (the first stop on the Manticore armor quest).

Awesome. I want black dye. Somehow haven't picked up any recipes yet I don't think.

Yeah, I just unlocked and tested a bunch of the mutations, and Toxic Blood wasn't really dealing the damage that it should be. Just put in the bugged basket.

Piercing Cold is so crap, coz it doesn't knockdown and kill enemies in one Aard. You actually have to use Aard twice. Lol, such a waste, when you can just use your sword for insta-killing when enemies are knocked down. Also, it doesn't deal the damage that it says it will deal in the tooltip. Another bugged mutation.

And the one that I want to use is completely bugged, and doesn't even work after one fight.

These are just for the few I tested. Seriously, do the gameplay developers even do anything?

Yep, mutations are really underwhelming...

I have the GM Ursine and don't invest any skill points into Signs, yet it's set bonuses are based on Quen, so that's pretty much wasted on my build. Maybe I'll try respec'ing for a change of pace. I've been Combat + Alchemy from the beginning.

The chance to recast quen for free is quite good on a tank build.

Manticore is essentially for Alchemy builds, might be worth checking out

The Wild Hunt has officially had the best DLC releases ever - a stream of free content, along with two expansions rivaling the base game itself in quality.

Seriously contemplating on whether I should or should not start with New Game+ with the base game, HoS and then start B&W or just start this expansion with my character that already did everything....

Do the mutagen upgrades cross over when you defeat B&W and start on new game plus?

I agree I just don't really like 'chance' abilities. The 6-piece set bonus seems good though if I specced into Quen for the explosion I assume.

I will next then! Thanks for the tip.

Yeah it's good as well. Quen explosion only needs 3 points invested in signs IIRC.

I dyed my GM feline armour black. Quite nice. It doesn't go jet black but a really deep blue black.

Can't believe how long I've been doing side quests for. Hardly touched the main quest. Although I've done a bit of it. Up to first encounter with who the beast really is.

Eh I would finish it with the first character, a big theme in this expansion is reminiscing on times past and enjoying them or suffering the consequences of them. Kind of feels right to do all that after returning to the game after a while.

It would've been nice if Geralt's vineyard or house or whatever it is called in B&W generated a decent amount of gold every 10 mins, kinda like Assassin's Creed 2 or something. In fact, that would've been totally awesome.

Sitting here waiting for the ups person to bring me my 1080 so I can start my death March run. I'm gonna tackle him/her when they show up

God damn, if the Witcher 3 had tighter controls it was easily be a contender for best game of all time.

It is for me.

I thought that was where it may be heading. I was a little disappointed when I fully upgraded and no income.

The
Wine Wars
side quest wasn't really worth it. Nothing special really and it was over an hour worth of running all over the map.

Decided to reload my save and take another shot at the final
Detlaff fight at the end and not lower difficulty this time.
Then I realized something. The whole thing that makes that fight such bullshit in the first place is set in stone regardless of difficulty. It just seems to hit for a specific amount of what your full health would be equal too.

So the beehive glitch works with the latest version?

I'd like to try it out to upgrade my vineyard faster, but I still have tons of side quests and points of interests that I should explore.

Finally decided to give that a go last night...oh man, the mountains of gold I have now.

Same. I'm now swimming in gold and have zero shame.

It still works. I did it after the patch.

Just curious, but why are these images warped? Everything seems to tilt toward the center of the screenshot.

I've been struggling with this decision myself, so I'm glad to know that playing the expansion despite such a long hiatus from the game works out well. With how much time I spent playing the base game I can't fathom going through it again right now.

Definitely still works. Might require a few attempts though, as it seems pretty hit or miss for people.

I just looked up the money glitch for kicks, that's hilarious. I hope CDPR pays homage to Willis in their upcoming games.

I'm on the final mission of the expansion, and the I'm finding the route I took hard to take seriously lol. Might reload to see the other options first.

Yeah after thinking about it I'm gonna do the money glitch. Lugging around loot and finding a merchant is not something I enjoy in this game.

Haven't tried it, but given there's a potion to refund the ability points invested in the mutagens, I really doubt they'll carry over in NG+

Okay is encountering a 'bug' whilst riding Roach where the camera slowly rises above the player and looks down whilst you're trying to ride? Reminiscent of PS1 GTA games, top down etc.

This is infuriating. I have to ride with my thumb leaning on the right stick somehow to see where I'm going.

just finished every quest in HoS, i'll probably start BaW tomorrow but i want to know if all the quests in BaW are in the new map or there is some quests outside the new map ?

All the ones I've seen and done are entirely in Touissant.

Ok, seriously how often are people hearing NPCs saying "Long Live The Champion" ?

I feel like every single NPC I pass is saying it.

Ok. I'm hearing it every 30 seconds from a female a NPC what the fuck

So I tried playing Blood and Wine without having the 1.20 update installed and got all sorts of glitches and it crashed right after the first fight (on PS4).

Question - the latest save file I have seems to still have the scars on Geralt (from Hearts of Stone) and it seems that the last part of the quest from the first expansion wasn't completed. Did I fuck up and not save after completing Hearts of Stone? Or is it like this?

Just did a quest involving a stone penis and a randy old man, which is yet another reason this is already my favourite DLC/add-on ever, they've done a great job picking what was great about the base game and focusing down on it so pretty much everything I've seen so far has made me think 'oh shit I want to do that'

I'm going to assume you or your game messed up somewhere. I don't have the marks.

any one encountered a game breaking glitch in Blood and Wine so far ?? my curse with The witcher 3 is the glitches, i encountered lots of glitches and some of them could ruin the entire save if i had one save file and saved over it

Spoilers for a few hours in
this Oriana lady being a vampire just seems too obvious, my game just crashed right as she introduced Regis and said they'd known each other for ages, but from the instant I saw her I was like "that's the bruxa from the night to remember cinematic" and I that seems cool to me

Not game breaking but I can't lock on anymore, seems like the most common glitch/bug so far.

Ok so need help with a boss. Major spoilers, last main quest.
Im getting 1 shot by Dettlaff's 2nd attack in his 2nd form, even through quen shield. What're you supposed to do?
Edit: Ok so,
that isn't the only attack that can 1 shot me through quen, all of his attacks can lol. The dodge window on it is ridiculously short, but I watched a video and quen definitely blocked the damage from his bat attack. Is it because I'm on deathmarch? So I can't get hit at all... and he has an attack that is hard to dodge. Great
Edit 2: This is dumb as fuck
