Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 reviews and benchmarks

the trick with coil whine is not to have coil whine

the fact that you can pay 700dollars for a gpu and it made it through QA while having coil whine is retarded

coil whine was never an issue in the past , only a very rare problem, now it's common as shit and noone seems to give a shit

I'll second this.

The solution is not to put up with stupid shit that shouldn't be busted in the first place.

I just want to say that if more people understood this and took this attitude we would all have nicer things.

Would love to have a chance here but it will probably sell out before I can get to it :/

Is it even worth signing up for auto notify? Or is it the notification given to late and not useful?
I signed up for auto notify for the Gigabyte card. I'm still waiting.

Good... Gooooooood...

Now build a custom watercooling loop and your journey towards the dark side will be complete!

I just cancelled my 2 GB g1 preorders from Amazon that I had in at 611 at minute 1. I got my FE's installed. Hopefully a fellow Gaffer gets theres earlier now! I also cancelled my FTW preorders....

You're welcome to buy and return video cards over and over again until you find one that doesn't whine with your particular motherboard and power supply. Good luck with that!

The reason I say it's an inherent problem is because it's inherent. The manufacturers of these components don't put whine in for fun, and if it were easy and cheap to eliminate don't you think they would have done it by now?

You got yourself a golden sample there. You're super lucky that you got a great chip out of one of the more inexpensive cards.

im in the step of queue since the day after they put them on the site i'm guessing I have a lot longer to wait

My order has been "Processed" for a couple of days now. My CC was charged.

Only the "Shipping" step left on the order tracking. The product page still says "5 to 10 days" but I'm not sure when that 5 to 10 days started lol

HA! Im intimidated by that....I love the cpu cooler closed loop. Its corsair hx100i v2.

It's not that bad, really. A little scary the first time, but you're already more than halfway there if you're doing your own builds with a closed loop. Just more blingy lights. And expense. And time... And...expense.

That's beautiful.

I would be going SLI as well, if Fast Sync wasn't disabled in SLI.

I just got the Acer predator xb271hu 1440p 144hz gsync monitor. Im in love with it. Gsync is amazing, Im wondering if fastsync would even help at that point. would it?

Well I just bought the 27" 1440 144hz g sync monitor that was posted on gaf a bit earlier. I figured I might as well utilize the GTX 1080 properly that I have on order.

How far down does this rabbit hole go?

How about a sexy new HTC Vive to go with that GTX 1080? ;)
If you don't already have one, that is lol.

Edit: Also get a decent M.2 x4 Gen-3 SSD like the Samsung 950 Proif your mobo supports Gen3s with up to 32Gbps.

We need the HB SLI bridge already. Wanna see how much better the benchmarks are.

I've had one since launch and love it. That is what made me want to get the 1080.

Buy Vive. Want 1080. Buy 1080. Want Monitor. Buy Monitor. Want...

Haha that's awesome man. One of my main reasons for saying fuck it and just going for a new build now is the HTC Vive; got to try it very recently and it was quite the experience to say the least.

Depends on the type of games you're playing. I play older ones, so my FPS is through the roof and Fast Sync helps with that. G-Sync is kinda for the other end of the spectrum.

Actually I still might go SLI, I think I can set up profiles for this..

So the cards are roughly $1.2K AUD. What the hell man. And here I was thinking I'd wait for the 1080 Ti.... Which will probably be over 1.5K.

Idk what to do. My 780 Ti can't keep up anymore.

Got a tracking number from newegg... Is this really going to happen. Waiting till the tracking actually gets updated before I cancel from Amazon.

If you have a tracking number, they have already notified UPS or Fedex that there is a box with a video card in it they need to pick up and deliver somewhere. It's safe to cancel your Amazon. :D

Man, nice system but it's truly hilarious that someone with such a monster rig is taking cellphone pics of the screen. Come on man, this is the master race after all, if you're gonna measure your dick do it right!

Yeah it sucks, thankfully I pulled the trigger when Amazon started pre orders for the Evga ACX and managed to get it for $900

Time to get a console?

Just kidding - get the 1070, on amazon it should be AU$550-600

Woke up to get notified that all sites I'm tracking pushed back their FTW ETA by yet another few days

This card will never be available, will it

Gigabyte G1 got a price adjustment on AmazonDE though, 766 now

So I've got a weird issue with my EVGA SC. I am getting a green flickering bar on the left side of the screen while in a game. It's always on the far left side edge of the game window, so if I go to smaller resolution it moves with it. Ive tried no over clock, restarting computer, reinstall drivers, I don't know what else it could be.

Had a look on Overclockers and no sign of it's clockspeeds, and as Ikuu has just said, the price has gone up now.

I'm beginning to think that the Inno3D cards will go up soon too. They all seem to be rising in price which is a major pain in the arse. :o(

Shit. Surprised Amazon would price gouge.
Tin foil hat time - the gigabyte went up in price because they're about to get stock in so can take advantage of people that want it. The inno being still at a lower price might suggest it won't be available yet and they can accept preorders which will then be passed onto the supplier.
