Fuck ISIS. Fuck fundamentalism. Fuck it. Why is this a gun debate?

Because for most of the world, and a very large number of people in the US, gun control is common sense, and our common sense is at direct odds with gun owners' entitlement. It has a way of getting emotional.

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
Well the fbi could have arrested him years back but that probably would have started some controversy about arresting him because of his race or parents origin. There wasn't enough evidence to take action at the time.

Should the requirements be loosened for those terrorist watch lists and infringe on their rights or ban/confiscate guns people obtained legally and have never used for a crime and infringe on their rights?

Or. Maybe it should be a bit of both and not just the extreme that doesn't affect you personally.

The issue is that you can rarely take the action to do something in advance and then be proven right to have done so.

Where do you think their hatred of gay people stems from?

This was already discussed. Homophobia knows no bounds. It's not tied to religion or sex. Anyone can be homophobic for a wide variety of reasons.

Here, read this Frontline transcript for more complete information as to why people attack gay and trans people.

Inside the Mind of People Who Hate Gays by Karen Franklin

Bias-related violence against homosexuals is believed to be widespread in the United States, with perpetrators typically described by victims as young men in groups who assault targets of convenience . Victim accounts suggest that assailants possess tremendous rage and hatred; indeed, documentation of horrific levels of brutality has led gay activists to characterize the violence as political terrorism aimed at all gay men and lesbians . Other motives for antigay violence suggested in the literature include male bonding, proving heterosexuality, and purging secret homosexual desires . Due to a dearth of empirical research with assailants, motives are largely inferred from victim accounts and a handful of publicized cases. Thus, the goal of the research discussed in this chapter was to investigate assailants' self-described motivations for their assaults. ...

how is it distantly related? he even bragged about "associating with terrorist groups" in the past

huh? pretty sure he was just saying the perpetrator didn't need a gun to commit murder.

There seemed to be an implication that gun control would be meaningless, hence why I asked what the purpose of his post was meant to serve.

Because like it or not, the 2nd amendment is the law of the land right now. You can't deny people their rights without due process. The terror watch list and no-fly list provide almost no oversight for remedying errors and lack due process. That is why it got defeated.

The 2nd amendment is not absolute. We can very easily put forward legislation that would ban hi-cap mag's, certain weapons, etc. without violating the 2nd amendment.

Easier to blame guns.

No it is easier to solve that portion of the equation.

Will America finally wake up and start reforming their terrible gun control problems?

Or will people just stick their fingers in their ears again and pretend guns aren't the problem.

The same thing that's happened every time there's an incident like this will happen.

So nothing will change.

Man, this wording

Basically, "we don't recommend doing so because it is highly illegal, but if you buy our kit and follow our instructions you'll create a fully functional part"

We can legally sell, and you can legally purchase and own, this kit because the kit does not contain a fully-functional and completed TCGTR, but only provides the materials necessary for creating one -- meaning the kit cannot be used to convert an AR-15 to full-auto, as-sold, but would have to be modified, by bending the provided TCGTR material into the correct shape necessary to create a fully-functional and completed TCGTR. (Be forewarned that if you chose to do this, you would have created a new part from the materials provided to you in the kit, and this new part would be one of your own making. In other words, you would be its manufacturer.)

It's like we can legally sell you the parts to a bomb, but if you put it together, then it is illegal. Talk about fucked up regulation.

The sad thing about this is I'm seeing a lot of people online now saying that Trump is right and that we should ban Muslims from being in this country.

I know right? The shooter was a U.S citizen? ISIS needs to be dealt with but its not like a drone strike 24 hours ago would have demotivated the shooter.

Ideology, just like religion is not a 1-to-1 correspondence with country of citizenship.

How do you know that? You and others are making racist assumptions. His own dad said this doesn't have anything to do with religion and he was bigoted against homosexuals. No one really knows but this is a stupid road to go down. He is not his parents or his household. He is American.

Yeah, those who are painting the GOP as the bad guy by voting that way are incredibly hypocritical in regards to this. Pure politics.

Except the GOP are the ones that voted that way... only one democrat and one republican crossed party lines.

No, I'm saying what can we do. I'm asking you and those that say it is radicalism, etc. What would you have us do, because I'm not seeing a solution. I'm open to solutions as I'm sure the rest of the world is. We can quickly and swiftly do something about minimal gun control that could and would curb situations like this. We do not have the same solution for radicalism. What would you have us do?
the solution would be to find a way to destroy isis. destroy radicalism. destroy this poisonous train of thought.

these mass murders occur every year and every year people try to argue about gun control to no avail.

There seemed to be an implication that gun control would be meaningless, hence why I asked what the purpose of his post was meant to serve.
i'm not taking a side on the gun control debate, so i can't comment on that; i was just saying i think he was telling you that he didn't need a gun to commit this atrocity.

This thread contains some of the worst posts I've ever read on this site since I joined. I would put those people on ignore, but seeing them helps remind of why this country wont change.

Its fantastic, first a "mentally deranged" white shooter then a brown shooter with "terrorist leanings". The perfect bubble against all criticism, the perfect "Can' we discuss gun control some other time?" bubble.

That other time when more people's friends, family and loved ones are bloodily taken from them in a hail of gunfire.

... How?

Most racists aren't murderers either that doesn't mean when a lynching happens it's not a racial issue.

How common is lynching in America? Especially versus the plethora of unrelated reasons mass shootings happen? Homophobia is not a high value target in preventing mass shooting as most others are not related to it.

It's depressing, but if Sandy Hook didn't bring about real gun control and legislation, then I don't know what will. I really don't.

That is great to hear! I have the same exact situation. My guns are stored very very safe.

I think this guy who killed all those poor people.....Was gonna use whatever he could, to get the job done. If he did not have access to a gun. He might of made pipe bombs instead.

The point is, nothing was going to stop this nutter with a shit radical ideology that oppresses homosexuals, women and beliefs. This should be the real discussion. But neogaf cares more about taking away our guns, than the issue at hand here.

If he was going out and getting explosives, or researching how to get them, the FBI had then a reason and the capacity to stop him. They cannot limit or stop him from legally buying guns and high capacity weapons.

Good words, how do you destroy a poisonous train of thought? You still aren't offering a solution.

Say what you want about Trump, but at least he wants to address radical Islam.

So many people seem intent on just sweeping it under the rug and passing off blame elsewhere.

Who's sweeping Radicals under the rug? Obama, tell us how, and what exactly are you proposing here when you say "Trump wants to address it"? I wanna know how far down the rabbit hole this goes.

No it is easier to solve that portion of the equation.

This is a problem our country faces, too many people believe the Constitution is absolute and should not be fluid at all.

do you think we are supposed to do nothing?

i'm not saying guns aren't a problem but the MAIN problem here is radical islam isis.

And he just said, in that post-

One of these things is easy to change, one is not. Doing something is better than doing nothing.

It really is that simple

I would imagine the mods couldn't keep up with the amount of people playing internet detective and/or making racist comments, so had to shut it all down.
