Zelda U/NX promo image leaks from Amazon.com

Witcher 3 has rather large issues with its combat and movement gameplay, but its definitely the game I'd want Zelda to take notes from. On the other hand, I expect Zelda to be much more polished than that game and just about everything to feel and control right.

I have no doubt Zelda will play infinitely — infinitely — better than Witcher 3 (especially where controls and general "game feel" are concerned), but I don't see this Hyrule being nearly as populated or dense with lore as W3's world.

That's an awfully safe prediction. Where is your gambler's spirit?

played witcher 3 for 4 hours and beside npc interaction, the game felt boring to me imo. the environment was nice to look at but boring to explore every nook and canny.

When it comes to close combat, Japanese devs (at least the major ones) always nail the feel of good combat. People rave about Skyrim, but that game has one of the worst combat I have ever seen.

Western devs are masters of shooting from afar though.

Can someone like me to where GameXplain told us of the rumors they heard? I can't seem to find the original source, and I still don't even know what they're supposedly reporting

Yeah I mean obviously, it wouldn't fit the fiction if Nintendo densely populated the world or packed it with all that "lore". Can't you just let the developers have their vision? I mean how much of a populated world with Lore is in Japan anyways?

Please tell me you get the joke...

Ahh, the benefits of having stuff to begin with, very, very powerful writing tool. Not to discredit CDPR on their work, but they did have some interesting stuff to work off to begin with and something that not everyone is terribly familiar with, which is something not every company has the advantage of in terms of creating a narrative.

I expect and hope for Zelda to be more sparse with narrative, frankly the story of how I would ride down a rampaging monster over the fields of Hyrule and destroys the tranquility Mononoke Style sounds very Compelling.

So if these are two Link, what if rather than the player picking one Link at the beginning they're actually father and daughter---and the main "two worlds" gimmick this time around involves switching between the two and how the past changes the future. Like Ocarina of Time, but more ambitious.

I do hope Zelda U has a bit more meat to its story this time around instead of the same old "Evil has taken hold of this land. You are the chosen one, only you can bring light to this land and rid Hyrule of its chaos". It just feels a bit... 80s and dated in this day and age. I'm not asking for a super deep story, but something a bit more than just the basic Monomyth story. Probably not gonna happen though.

Art might look older but the ingame model definitely looks to be around 16 or so. Possibly even timer like 13-14.

I haven't watched any videos in a long while, so I don't remember him looking young. Making Link older would break from a Zelda convention though, so it makes sense if they did.

i dont know hoew to post images so i give you the link:

Those are lanyards from nintendo.
Watching the ones from this new zelda, gives me the impresion that we have 2 links.
Twins maybe. One Good and one evil.

One real and one impostor, because one has a bow and one has a sword.
One has the head uncovered and the other one has that black tunic.
Or maybe One is a boy and one is a girl.... insert rage here_____________________

Edit: I found them at zeldainformer by the way. Im not trying to advertise any site just to give credit.

Frankly, I would find a minimalist narrative more appealing, though Princess Mononoke (Which given an apparent technology vs nature motif, might not just be superficial) seems to be an influence in this game, so I expect something along those lines to be the primary focus here in terms of the narrative.

If I take anything from that image is that the hooded one looks a bit feminine with possibly a different hair style. Tunics look blue to me on both though.

Why not something like the SOULS series there are a lot of lore and stories.

of course. I even fixed it for you <3

We finally got rid of the gender posts, now here come the Souls posts :P

Zelda and RE7 better deliver hard

My apologies Neiteio, it seems Bethesda might not see the masterpiece that you do (And I do to some extent).

I'm nervous for everything, but at least there's Kirby. Kirby will keep me happy as it always will. Thus, I must recommend that to you to your pains. (Doesn't hurt that Planet Robobot is really good and stacks up to some of the better platformers of the generation).

It's just both of the arts that have been released thus far.

One has a hood and the other doesn't.

I feel like any kind of gender thing would overshadow everything they show for Zelda, so I'm not expecting it. I also feel like if they did it without offering any kind of new gameplay...thing it'd be pointless and wasted.
which is why I prefer my you're playing as Zelda who can Sheikah transform herself into Link's legendary form idea because it offers something unique gameplay wise.

I do expect voice acting. I do expect tears.

I do not expect a Dungeon, either.

I just seeeeeeeeeeeeeeriously doubt the artwork is depicting two separate people at this point

As long as it is told in a minimalist manner I'm fine with more well developed stories, but Zelda is founded upon the fairy tale style story telling, there only so far you can stretch that. It excells by having simple stories that aren't overly complex but do carry and convey a lot of emotion and feeling. TP and SS felt way to heavy handed narrative wise, though TP did have an interesting plot and good characters. Too many and too long of cutscenes and dialogues that interferes with the game too much. Keep it short and simple, you can't still do a lot without wrestling away control from the player every few minutes.

I haven't watched any videos in a long while, so I don't remember him looking young. Making Link older would break from a Zelda convention though, so it makes sense if they did.

Yeah, but the series has often anyways been about coming off age stories in one way or the other, an older Link just doesn't make sense. It would be a massive departure, and not in a good way. As above the series has anyways worked of that simple fairy tale style which often captures the struggle and magic of youth and growing up. Adult Link doesn't really fit.

A minimalist story could really work well. I'd love to learn about the world and races through lore, sort of like in Metroid Prime. Adding rich lore on the world and races would give the game a whole extra layer of depth. I mean, if I'm going to be exploring this world for hours on end, I want it to feel alive and for it to have a rich history. That would make it even more immersive for me.

Why not something like the SOULS series there are a lot of lore and stories.

Yeah, I think the new Zelda could really benefit from a SOULS like implementation of lore & story.

Hopefully the whole breaking with the conventions of zelda also extend to the story.

Hope so. That would be a pleasant surprise.

I am the biggest zelda fan in the world just like every other joe..... but zelda could learn a lot from souls series: combat mechanics, lore, story, enemies, difficulty.

Oh yeah, I totally plan to get Kirby, and also finish Captain Toad when I get a chance

I still think TEW2 may be in development, but if so, I guess they aren't ready to show it yet.

Now I'm going all in on RE7 and Zelda! ...and also Sun/Moon for possible new Pokemon.

*slides E3 chips on those three games*

I want a high octane action TPS featuring Jake Muller exclusively.

I know this is pure speculation, but what if the world implements the Timeshift Stones from Skyward Sword, but on a larger scale. The world feels very empty and vast at first, and as you progress, those tower things fall down, and the areas around them are from the past, where technology existed?

:O

That would be incredible!! It would basically create 2 worlds just like a lot of other Zelda games.
