Overall a good conference, even though the lineup was predictable, I thought they looked good. FFXV looked bad and I couldn't stand the cheese voice of the Scalebound guy. 7/10 for me, I wonder what Sony's will be like.

You must have missed all the new games and IP's they showed.

I'm sure the presentation will be posted to their website later so you can watch it again and see what you missed.

The fact you replied with a weirdly snippy post rather than briefly state these amazing new IPs I supposedly missed speaks volumes.

PC gamer stream just started...

Dude is on fire today!

Honestly this is what I was thinking while watching MS conf. Everything is PC now.

A lot of the fun for these conferences are seeing exclusives. It's kind of bizarre to me that Xbox One is completely multiplat with PC now.

Is Xbox just not going to have exclusive titles at all anymore? It's so strange. Is it actually working for MS, or is it counter intuitive?

That is just the reality for xbox now.I don't mind it

I think reactions like this are short sighted and that Microsoft considers it a platform win if you buy the game on a windows PC or on a Microsoft Xbox.

The reaction around here has been that if you can get something on a PC, that means Microsoft loses because, "lol no need for Xbox" but Microsoft is pushing this and heavily marketing it, so they clearly see this as an opportunity and business win for extending Xbox as a platform, not a box.
Yeah exactly I'm surprised so many people don't see this when it was obvious months ago. These "lol now I don't need an XB1 at all" as if that's really bad for MS are hilariously off base.

Were there any new game announcements? I mean apart from stuff that was obviously coming like FH3.

Seemed to be very light on new games.

Sony won't delay. Not for that reason, anyway.

This is actually a smart move, when you think about it. Both the Neo and the Scorpio appeal to enthusiast gamers - the type that would watch E3. By doing this they stop many of those enthusiasts from getting a PS4 Neo, which gives them a fighting chance at competiting despite launching later. "You could get a Neo, but if you're interested in powerful hardware we're going to be releasing something more impressive".

They'll still get hardware sales from the non-enthusiasts who will pick up an Xbox One S, oblivious to the Scorpio, and they keep themselves in the fight against PS4 Neo.

I seriously doubt it. Without the games to justify it, there's no point into picking up the Scorpio one bit.

Microsoft tried to be the most powerful console once with the Original Xbox, & people still picked up the PS2 over it. Why? Because of the bigger gaming library along with a ton of 3rd party exclusives.

Having extra power is only just that; A bonus.

B-

Dead Rising looked wicked, hope it's also on PS4.

Forza Horizons legitimately makes me jealous.

Rare is officially dead, dead, DEAD.

Last year they saved the titles that were further out for Gamescon, I wonder if they are doing a similar strategy. I think it's great that games are coming to Windows 10 pc. Those sales will only help them create more games in the future.

Announces cross-play between Xbox, PC, and mobile, games can be seamlessly played between PC and Xbox whenever you please, new powerful console, pretty much all trailers and gameplay shown

"4/10" wtf... What else do you want them to show I don't understand. What would be a 10/10 for someone?

I wouldn't say it was amazing but it kept me engaged the whole time and the trailers were fun and I'm definitely buying a lot of those games.

Pretty great conference. They did their job.

You're a funny person with a flawed logic. :)
Let's wait for actual the price announcments for both still nebulous consoles before we start the "good move, MS"-talk.
This could turn out to be a disaster at worst for MS, and a way of reclaiming some ground in US+UK at best. But no way in fucking hell is MS threatening Sony's WW dominance with Scorpio.

Are they announcing the Scorpio Slim at Gamescom then?

Since it wasn't shown during their presentation, is there any chance that the rumored Chromecast-like device will still make an appearance?

I think Microsoft has a long term strategy of moving Xbox away from being a "box" and towards being a platform, and pushing cross-play, cross-buy, and all of the synergy between Windows + Xbox is their logical step here.

Traditional console gamers, though, don't understand the concept because we think of our consoles as unchanging boxes, that have sales numbers, and games that only come out for them, and if you have one of those boxes then you better hate the other box and scoff at the person who bought it.

If you can imagine an iterative future for console gaming then this aggressive strategy to transition Xbox from a thing that sits under your TV to being a platform that powers a thing that sits under your TV (or on your lap, or in your hand, or on your desk, or strapped to your face, etc) makes a lot of sense.

I think people don't realize that software sales and more partnerships/money is all MS wants. They obviously would love to sell more Xbox ones but it is assuredly more financially beneficial for them. I don't think they care about true exclusives.

I wonder if by (xbox and) win 10 exclusive, they mean windows store/uwp only.

I mean by now that's gotta seem like a bad idea, especially with that whole Tomb Raider WS vs Steam sales were. I'm not saying everything should be on steam, i'd take origin or gog etc too, its just if they stick to UWP, and it stays as bad as it has been, it'll kill their pc sales, and probably push them off PC. Though i'd like to hope they aren't that inept.

Its just a reality that they need now. Windows 10 is a far bigger platform with a far bigger reach than a potential console can. Having these games sustain their Win10 platform helps them way better than using these games to sell Xbox's.

It is going to be fascinating to see how well they'll be able to sell Scorpio without an inherently exclusive software library.

Someone did mention a good point, where was Crackdown 3? Totally forgot about that, till I saw that comment.

With it being a MS Studios pub'd game would have imagined they would want to showcase it as part of the lineup no?

The cross buy would have to be that for licensing. They can only authenticate your purchases from their store. The games might still come to Steam though.

A lot better.

Without a leaked list, who knows.

Unless you are an insider.

....are you?

Anyway, I thought it was decent, if only because I'm a PC player. It solidifies my decision to not pick up a Xbox One, but it's not like people are losing out if they stay on the Xbox platforms anyway.

And it benefits MS. You buy a game on Xbox, they make dosh. You buy a game on PC, they make dosh. Sony needs to hop in bed with Steam and keep the competition up.

what? I said they will *talk* about Scorpio. I specifically doubled down on the word TALK

I got to go find it but I'm pretty sure he said it wouldn't be there talking about the hardware and you said I disagree or something which sent everyone into a tizzy.

Really bummed on no Crackdown update, but Sea of Thieves looks like it could easily ruin my life.

Was tempted to get an S until the pricing came out and the 2tb model is $459... Will wait for Scorpio and deal with annoying size and brick a while longer.

This year's E3 is just flat so far. Not sure if it's because everything felt leaked last week, or we are just in a lull, but that conference didn't do anything for me. Why not just hold off a year on announcingScorpio, that could kill your holiday sales. The conference just felt like a check mark on their to-do list.

This E3 is the sequel to 2010: the year of mid-generation refreshes. I've been calling that it would be weak for months. I wonder if Sony will even bother going above and beyond this year? I'll be interesting to find out

I think giving people who invest in 'PC hardware the option is good. I would have loved this back in the Halo 2 days when my gaming PC made Xbox look like a toaster. But the fact that they're going to keep a lot of this detached from Steam seems like a bad idea. Windows Store usage and enthusiasm is not there. Hopefully a lot of improvements are made in the next eighteen months.

All games presentation, new slim xbox with 4k UHD Blu Ray and HDR, looked amazing, buy a game on xbox get it free on PC, and the scorpio specs being real?

My rating - A
