Scalebound (XB1/PC, 2017) Xbox E3 Briefing 2016

Nier doesn't seem like a major departure from their comfort zone, at least not as of right now. I'd be surprised if it wasn't at least as good as Rising.
Yeah, this is certainly more worrying than nier.

Hopefully you're right about them know what they're doing there, there was certainly some decent bits in the trailers. I just can't shake the feeling that Platinum have been very hot and miss recently. With a bit of luck we'll seee more of Nier later on.

This sounded like it was going to be fantastic when it was first announced as a Platinum game but it really doesn't look to be anything special. Platinum have been doing some strange stuff over the past couple of years and this so far looks like it's not going to be one of theor better games.

I've got a feeling that Nier is going to be the same too although it looks more interesting than this. There's still time for both games though. :(

NieR will be fine. It's good old hack and slash, and the bits of gameplay so far look good. I have faith in it.

This game tries to work out a new formula, not sure if they get it.

Yeah, that was an awful showing. I was waiting for something to happen so I could get excited for this game. I don't think it gets any more generic than that.

This game has a very unappealing aesthetic combined with an unlikable hipster protagonist.

Panzer Dragoon cool this game is not.

Looks like Square and Platinum don't seem to understand that bigger is not always better. Larger bosses are often not fun to fight. They bring a ton of design constraints that make fights either restrictive, or completely unwieldy due to camera issues.

I haven't read the entire thread but I wasn't expecting the reactions to be so divisive so far
Edit: Caught up now , definetly more negative than positive. Personally I don't think it looks that bad as everyone's saying, though I haven't played any of platinum's best games so I don't expect anything out of them lol

Anybody else want to punch that main character in the face? Also, whats up with those stupid Beats knockoffs?

I was excited for this game when it was first announced. That demo made it look like a hot mess. No thanks.

Seems like they will allow your (customized) character from the SP to the coop mode.
Do you mean customised versions of douche may cry or actually different characters? I know you can customise your dragon and stuff and the different 'flavours' of scalebeiber seemed to indicate you can change minor things that'll carry over, but if I can actually make a completely different character (especially something as outlandish as a female character) that'd definitely make me a lot more interested :P

The game looks focus grouped as fuck, but it still looks somewhat fun, it needs to be more fast paced.

With this and Sunset Overdrive Xbox now has TWO games that I want to play. :/

I look forward to the raving reviews and back track in this thread

/s

but seriously, game probably doesn't demo great.

Still hyped.

I think a lot of people think "Kamiya" and "platinum" automatically means something like Bayonetta.

I like the slower paced, ARPG focus.

People still don't realize that there are games fun to watch but not to play, and games fun to play but not to watch.
I think we should give kamiya the benefit of the doubt.

Well you see, he puts those on when he is, "through messing around". Notice that in the video at first he shoots arrows, but then he gets serious and...shoots more arrows.

Game looks fun though. Just didn't demo very well.

Agreed.

I mean, it's an action rpg, of course there's more than meets the eye.

Cant wait to get home and see this. Such weird mixed reactions going on.

This is exactly what i'm wondering. Can't watch the vids at work right now, but the last gameplay I saw from this looked pretty solid. I'd be surprised if it changed drastically for the worse since then.

Trailer was silly, but I can tell I'm gonna play the shit out of this game. If it comes anywhere close to W101, Bayonetta 2, and Platinum's Transformers game, then this will more than deliver.

Indeed. Really confused right now. I'm hoping its a case of jealous peeps.

I like that you are all pressed. I'm still considering buying a Xbox just for this game. Kamiya and PlatinumGames have still to disappoint me.

Most of the complaints are from die hard fans who own multiple consoles just to play platinum games' work. You can't seriously look at the mechanics at work in scalebound compared to previous entries and not find something lacking.

My most disappointing E3 game so far, that and the new FF.

But Scalebound from what I saw was rough and poorly executed.I hope it improves😞

This is what you get when you have outside interference as part of the dev process. Should have just let Platinum do whatever.
