What are you most excited for?

Didn't see it live, but watched the trailers. Very apparent that most of them came without release windows, and the extra graphical sheen makes me suspicious of Neo footage, but it could just be the second wave of devs knowing where to push the machine.

A lot of games I'm looking forward to, but relatively few I expect to play any time soon. Meh.

The hype is starting to settle down now...and you know, I’m starting to think this was better than last year’s E3. Maybe if FF7:R was revealed and then the PSX gameplay trailer was showed along with it, it could be the undisputed GOAT. But really, that and Shenmue we didn’t get to see much of, just confirmation they exist, and you’ll be able to play it on PS4 some years from now.

But this stuff, GOW, Horizon, TLG, Days Gone, Detroit, RE7 being playable in VR, none of this stuff seems like it will be further than next year, I think Kojima’s game is the only thing far out, everything else I can see releasing this year and next, TLG/Horizon confirmed.

The only weak point was LEGO section and ending with Days gone gameplay instead of Spider Man. I would have loved a bit more Japanese presence with P5 and GR2 as well, but yeah, I’m actually up at 1am still hyped about what I saw. I can’t believe Crash is coming back! And I’m sorry, but this is the best way for the franchise to come back IMO. They are taking the best crash games and redoing them for PS4, if they are successful, this is the logical step for an actual sequel. God of War and Horizon, just OMG!

This conference man, all gameplay, all real-time, Sony just killed it.

Stop being so negative. Games is what we want 3 years post launch, not the announcement of a really powerful console with no boundaries that has boundaries and is out in 2018!

You can have both, though. The PSVR section was awful, a bunch of glorified tech demos for the most part, and basically everything after it was crap. In terms of quantity of good games coming out in the next year, Sony didn't show any hardware OR more games. People are right to be annoyed at the presentation.

Yeah I agree.

THE PSVR gave me fucking Vita vibes and the thing hasn't even come out. Sony did not push that at all and resorted to some goofy ass FFXV demo, Batman glorified demo, and whatever the fuck the other thing was. Star Wars X-Wing Level...but, again, none of that shit will run over a couple of hours worth of time

I have no fucking clue who Sony is anymore

So using Vr to announce RE7 isn't pushing Vr? Not to mention you can play the entire game in vr

Showing Vr experiences for 3 of the biggest IPs in entertainment, not just gaming, isn't pushing Vr?

Showing Far Point, a full game built from the ground up for Vr, isn't pushing Vr?

50 games from launch to the end of the yr isn't pushing Vr?

Wait what so we knocking the conference because they didn't show a console thats not even releasing this year and because they showed games?

Guys VR is hard to show, you just have to play it. VR is not Vita to Sony lol...They are fully onboard, I don’t know how yet, but they did claim you can play RE7 in VR. It’s like playing PT! Which should basically give you a f’n heart attack with a headset on.

And lets not forget about Rigs and Rez and other already cool looking VR games. You can’t put it on a giant screen and expect people to care.

It just seems a little awkward for them.

I'm sure the re-cut will be done by tomorrow, so that's not an issue. But how do you do get it out? Do you just drop it as a bombshell from the R* Twitter account? I mean, I guess that would work in terms of a viral spread, but it is a little strange. Is there a deal with Sony, potentially with money involved, that means Sony has to share the trailer? Would Sony even want to show it that way without the stage pageantry?

Do we have any rumors about any demo stations? Or was that totally off the table and it was only a teaser?

Because like you said, they could sit on it for a month, but even if you do that, you're still left wondering when to show it.

They could ask Keighley to integrate it into the live stream. Get some buzz going by saying there will be a big announcement today, get some execs and others to tweet about it and invite them onto the stage.
Let them talk about it and show the goods.

Greatest conference of all time! I have never seen so many games I want day one in a row like that. Plus they all looked original, actual next gen stuff. The difference between what MS showed and what Sony showed could not be any more different. This is why I say sequels DO NOT MATTER, just cause it is a sequel does not mean it can’t be totally original.

Sony showed a brand new God of War unlike anything we have seen from the series before. Totally different camera, different combat, different world. That was original. Horizon is the most impressive game of the show so far, the gameplay is so fluid, I could not believe what I was watching. That world was gorgeous, the way she fought is unlike anything I have seen. Totally original. Detroit, yes its Cage so we have an idea of how it is, but that presentation and how many choices and consequences was super impressive, again very original. Days Gone I have never seen World War Z zombies like that, this isn’t dead rising, this was crazy. Again original, interesting.

RESIDENT FUCKING EVIL 7, first person, VR, looks nothing like any RE game. Could be a disaster, who knows but it was original, it wasn’t a safe sequel. VR stuff was excellent. Even CoD looked amazing. They got FFXV for VR. Batman! A spiderman game by insomniac! Crash remaster! And then Kojima shows a fucking trailer and he gets Norman Reedus!

It was perfection. There was almost no talking, it was just game after game after game after game. No down time. No stupidity. No specs talk. No stupid company speeches. Just games. AMAZING GAMES.

That could work I suppose. Keighley is a master of the hype-drumming.
Vicarious Visions is working on the Crash games btw

That's just a subsidiary of Activision, so that makes sense.

What..? I can only imagine that people who are annoyed after that presentation must be jaded. Cause... how?

Do you think the way Microsoft announced hardware that wouldn't be out until 2017 was a positive in their conference?

Because I sure as hell didn't. It was a waste. Hardware revisions like the S also aren't stage worthy really either.

Yeah, man...this is exactly what the thread earlier was discussing. Sony’s Press was just more hype. The movie Trailer format and orchestra and SP storytelling experiences, it was just wow...

last year, I was amazed and then I went to bed. Now, I can’t stop analyzing every bit of God of War, Spider Man, TLG, and Horizon, they all look so incredible! It makes me feel like we don’t need to upgrade at all!

All hype has been deflated until I see videos. That studio is shovelware R us.

I found the conference to be disappointing. Everything was just cutscenes or 'insert third person open world game here'. God of war was...idk, I need to see more of that. The combat just looked so very boring, then again the studio doesnt have the same people it did back in 2005. All they did was take the originals combat and continually refine it, until Ascension where they changed the mechanics suddenly and it wasn't that great because of it. I don't want to just walk slowly around the world with a kid by my side gaining *shudders* xp points...

Days Gone looked impressive at the very end with the swarm of zombies, rest was generic and I see no reason to care about the game.

Where was Rime? FF7R?

I think last year, I teared up a bit at the reactions, pledged $100 to Shenmue and went to sleep lol.

Spider-Man alone has me too hyped to sleep.

Wow that conference was fucking awesome, and being in the theater surrounded with people just as excited as me and my buddies made it all the better. The atmosphere was awesome and the reactions from the audience was great too. Year of dreams 2.0 for sure!

Conference was straight booty outside of Last Guardian - the other games were mostly Uncharted and Tomb Raider reboot knockoffs. If you dont like cinematic single player stuff you were shit out of luck. RE going first person was just the nail in the coffin. FFXV vid was all time horrific. So far, this is easily the weakest E3 I can remember from all sides.

It's DOA to me. I can't see why people would buy it right now. I expected it to be a huge focus of the show but it was practically buried.

Except for people that have been convinced and excited about the tech since it was announced, right? You're not counting us, right? Because we already know what this is about and have pre-ordered it. So you can't possibly be referring to us, right?

J

In the Farpoint one, they mention the PS VR Aim Controller. Has that been shown off before? Holy fuck it's dorky looking.

Do you intend on playing VR games with an audience? If not your disdain is a tad misleading; you'll be using this- and any other ridiculous looking controller-- while having your view completely blocked off by the headset, and presumably not in front of anybody else. Even if you were playing in front of people WHO THE FUCK CARES? VR is about YOU. What YOU are experiencing. Who gives a shit what people that are observing you (unlikely) externally observing you think.

Yes! I thought I was just riding off the high of the hype but now that I've settled down, I still think that this is one of the best E3 conferences I've ever watched. Last year's will always be special to me because the disbelief, the rumours, the naysayers, just the impossibility of it all (why would these tone-deaf multi-million dollar companies even try to fulfill the demands of a crazy fan?)...it was an E3 made for the history books.

But Sony really did killed it this year as well. Last year's conference had some considerable lulls between the exciting announcements. This year's conference though was an endless barrage of games that I'm excited for. I keep feeling like I had to catch my breath 'cause the game announcements never seemed to let up haha.

You're getting me all hyped up again!

lmao

I just got home and am trying to catch up on all the news, but got sidetracked by being pissed off about Battlefield 1.

Just to clarify, the Bloodborne 2 vote thing is just a joke right? Don't fuck with me here...

FF7 theater guy was so hyped, and then when they saw barred and Cloud, they just started screaming uncontrollable. I definitely got emotional because that was just super nostalgic. Like many say, that’s my first real RPG I sat down with for 80 hours and beat on my own.

lol you sound like another industry insider blindly siding with developers for self promotion. You havent played any of these "amazing" games yet.

2016 and the blind faith in games grows even stronger. So bizarre.
Not hard to have some faith in proven devs man. PS4 has no shortage of games in the near future, in fact, 2 amazing exclusives just released so why not get hyped about stuff coming later? Not everyone is as skeptic as you.

It was so well done and I hope Sony can put a show like this together every year with just minor variations. The theater style works for so many of Sony’s games, and the orchestra was on point. I think TLOU influenced all of Sony’s WWS, they all seem to be trying to out do each other in the story department. Should have some amazing experiences this year and next.
