Sony E3 Conference 2016 |OT|

What are you most excited for?

Impulse Gear has an unproven track record and was founded in 2013. I give two shits about Far Point until I need to.

You do not need PSVR to play Resident Evil 7. An add on feature does not warrant a $400 tag, no.

Everything else you mentioned are single level gameplay or limited in scope. In other words. gimmicky glorified tech demoes.

Wat does a proven track record have to do with the fact that they're making a game, that Sony is supporting, specifically for Vr? You were talking about a Vr push, not ur personal opinions on the developer.

Same with resident evil, it's not about you. It's about the fact that it is in fact a Vr push.

The 3 "gimmicky" things. Are using massive franchises. It doesn't matter if it's a short tech demo, if a star wars fan sees Vr X-Wing they're gonna wanna experience that. That is a Vr push....

Also u conveniently ignored 50 games from launch throughout the yr. That is a Vr push

Do you intend on playing VR games with an audience? If not your disdain is a tad misleading; you'll be using this- and any other ridiculous looking controller-- while having your view completely blocked off by the headset, and presumably not in front of anybody else. Even if you were playing in front of people WHO THE FUCK CARES? VR is about YOU. What YOU are experiencing. Who gives a shit what people that are observing you (unlikely) externally observing you think.

You don't understand. I'm fully on board the PSVR bandwagon and have one pre-ordered. My concern is my wife is going to rip the piss out of me.

For people who attended the Playstation E3 Experience event at the theaters... do any of you have tried to redeem their E3 lanyard voucher code? Mine says it is invalid or already used. It's weird because it was the first time I was trying to redeem it. :/

Did you miss the part when Connor (?) from Detroit started climbing up a rock cliff surrounded by lush tropical trees? Or when SSM showed off Kratos' new pickaxe climbing mechanic?

Boy are you in for a treat.
Totally missed those man!

I for one cannot wait to experience all the Uncharted/Tomb Raider influences in my new Spidey game.

Hi guys, not sure if this has been posted, but PlayStation's twitter DP changed to support Pride Month. That and their E3 statement were a cool way to support the LGBT community.

You're being awfully selective and goal posting to argue my point. I'm not seeing the value. Throwing a bunch of shit at the screen and saying "look at all theeeeese!" is not a selling point. I wasn't born yesterday and saw this same "push" with the wii ("oooh fucking look, use a wiimote with twilight princess!!!!!!") and its shovelware library.

It is a big push period. But it does not have to appeal to you to be a big push.

Very interesting that we got two games from two respective major franchises - God of War and Resident Evil - that look utterly different than their previous games in every way.

Contrasts heavily with Microsoft's Gears of War showing.

Nah man VR is a gimmick through and through doncha know. Kinect and Move had babies and now they're gonna infect your precious ps4 libraries.

fucking lol

yeah gow is going through such a huge change, i'm surprised they didn't change it into a new ip instead, it's even the different genre of a game imo
anyway seeing as my expectations was kinda low (i knew last year's literally cannot be beaten), this year's conference definitely exceeded my expectations
solid 8/10 from me

Wat goalposts did I move YOU said Sony didn't push Vr YOU said all they showed was gimmicky goofy stuff.

I responded that the gimmicky stuff was using huge franchises so it could bring in fans. And I also pointed out the non gimmicky games they showed, that you conveniently ignored.

In response YOU changed it from Sony not pushing Vr to you're opinions on the games they showed

I responded that your original post was about Sony not pushing Vr and only showing gimmicky demoes...

And now your stance is you personally don't see the value in the games shown. You not being impressed isn't the same as them not pushing Vr, plain and simple

Don't know if this has been posted, but apparently one guy on Reddit, who had a pretty good record of leaking info, said Red Dead was supposed to be shown at the end of Sony's show today but it involved a scene where a character shot up a bunch of innocent people. Since the Orlando tragedy is still very fresh, it appears they filled that spot with Days Gone instead. Might explain how the show just kinda ended quietly.

I thought so too until tonight while we sat in that theater and she said..I want one. Idk I kinda like the idea of criticism more now, cuz now I gotta dish out $1000 lol

Oh man don't I know it. If there's one thing that makes my gf hyped about video games beyond PuyoPuyoTetris, it's VR. There's going to be some serious share time going on once that thing hits.

Ha, people care about?

People lost their shit in november 2013 when Uncharted 4 was unveiled and now the gaming forum is littered with complaints about Sam, pacing, Gunplay being shallow, etc.

People get hyped only to resort to complaining. They're not games that anyone cares about until the games have been played and beaten. As we realistically know, it doesn't always go this way and people will eventually use an actual foundation to decide whether they're in the mood to bitch after three years of convincing themselves that these games are "AMAZING!",

There are a tone of people praising U4 this very forum. Do have selective reading perhaps.

I just watched most of the trailers, same as I did with MS' conference.

That was fucking epic. Like, holy shit. I was so afraid to be let down, but, holy shit.

Holy. Shit.

Did you watch the Horizon Gameplay? That was fucking awesome.
Detroit? I had no idea it was gonna be like that. So bad ass, branching story. Yes!
God of War 4? If you couldn't get hype for that, you have no soul. Or are a troll.

The CG trailers for Days Gone and Death Stranding(!) have me interested.
Resident Evil 7 looks to evoke the vibe of PT, which is awesome.

Last years conference was a 11/10. You don't get any better than that. That conference will forever be untoppable. I give this years a tentative 8/10, only because I'm sure there are things that I've missed, and the PSVR price is just too much (Although, the games make me want to own one).

Is there an updated list of all the games that were displayed?

Newsflash everybody:

A popular game has very vocal detractors on an internet forum.

Truly this is indicative of something deeper within the industry.

Now, Go d of War and RE 7 look like games from other IPs. So the other argument is, rightly or wrongly, whether they were better off being themselves rather than take on the blueprint made famous by another IP. You may have noticed the abundance of "lol its tlou again!" comments earlier today.

It is a damn if you do or dont situation and then when you DO, its a matter of what and how you did it.

Sounds like someone needs a break from gaming side :p

This shit don't have to be this serious bruh

So are you open to being wrong about these amazing games? or will you secretly hate them yet stick to your 3 year public "amaze " parade ?

I know a bunch of users who were hyped to the moon for uncharted 4 and came off hating it. So, in my view, the whole "holy shit so amaze" shtick was a confounded waste of energy and noise.
I'm tired of negativity. You can be pissed, but let those that want to be excited, be excited. Goddamn.

Don't be surprised if you don't see it at any of those events this is SE we are talking about.

True, lol.

Here's hoping that SE doesn't want VII to clash with XV's 6 month marketing campaign and will start showing it after the later releases.

*fingers crossed

We should outlaw getting hyped

It's not your job to tell others to not get hyped. If they face crushing disappointment it is their own fault.

Better than last year for me. Tons of games, not many release dates unfortunately.

But they killed it, best conference by a mile.

I only just watched it, for people that watched live was there a stupid spoiler image being posted constantly like the other conferences?

God damn what an show. Just expertly crafted all around. 10/10 presentation easily. Day's Gone was super impressive in the end with the mass storming zombies. God Of War looked way more interesting than I thought was possible. REVII! TLG date! Cod actually looked great. Guerilla showed exactly what they needed from Horizon. The VR segment was great. Detroit looked ace. Kojima! Stairs! Reedus! Mystery! <3

Just a great showing all around. Probably the second best E3 conference ever (2015 will never be topped).

I missed it, was it any good? Did they talk about Neo?

No Neo, but it would've ruined the conference tbh

If you haven't spoiled the announcements I say go watch it. It was presented more like a show than press conference. Alot of creativity, very classy. Not alot of filler so it doesn't feel like it's dragging too long on at all

out of topic, Gregg Miller is saying that Sony is not allowing executives to do any interviews this year cause they want to focus on games. looks like Sony is not ready talk about neo yet, which is smart.

Why would I secretly hate a game? I'm perfectly capable of being excited for a game and then critique or "hate" it later.

I was hyped to the moon for games like Fallout 4 and MGSV last year. Now I'm one of their harshest critics.

Get over yourself.
I'm not, but in fairness, we also don't need a bunch of people asking others to not be skeptic about the direction these conferences and the industry are heading in.
What direction are these conferences and the industry headed in?

Do, pray tell, what is this bold, new, scary direction?
