Forza Horizon 3 (PC/XB1, 2016) Confirmed; Set in Australia

I'm more excited about FH3 than any other game at the show, and I don't even own a Bone any more (or a decent PC). This game looks staggeringly good - the thought of playing it at 60fps might just be too good to resist.

Time to think seriously about building a gaming rig. Again.

Helios, just tell me you have the Surfers Paradise CART circuit in there and it's my automatic GOTY.

Just did that - it's easy.

It's also expensive..

At least we will finally be driving on the proper side of the road.

Yes boss!

Does anyone have any idea how FH2 performed? I guess this is a moneymaker for MS given the resources they throw at it?

SOON: I will have to abandon all threads related to FH. It's a series that gets me as hyped as anything by R*

Hopefully we get to see some Xbox One gameplay soon. During the show they said someone on stage was playing it on Xbox One while others played on PC. I wonder if we saw the Xbox One version.

It will be, it did look worse than the PC version by quite a bit when they swapped between.

This game looks absolutely amazing, thanks Playground for giving me another time sink. I loved FH2, the best racer I played IMO and this seems to smoke it.

OK, I have to ask... again.

Is there still a music festival going on?

Because I don´t see a single stage in yesterdays reveal or the b-roll.

Is the Horizon Festival just a racing event now?

Bummer if so.

We saw all lol
The one with the BMW and Lambo was Xbox One. They all introduced them even.

If this game runs / looks anything like the last one then we have nothing to worry about. FH2 was a quality product all round.

Lol? What difference does it make?

What difference does anything audiovisual have to with a game? It defined the original game's setting. FH2 just wasn't the same with the scaled back "road trip" presentation.

I miss hearing about the other competitors, collect wristbands that meant something, hearing the radio DJs interviewing competitors about what they think of the new guy (you), and seeing the stalls set up around the area (not just a bland marker floating in the sky).

The first game had soul. :P

Immersion. Now that you are the head of the festival I wonder how this will translate into the narrative.

I wonder if by "head of the festival" they just mean that you can set up races and events.

Really worried that the music aspect is gone.

Also worried that there is no story and no cut-scenes.

This.

I always loved seeing the music festival happening off in the distance...then to drive closer and closer to it, the energy just ramping up. The stages all lit up, pyrotechnics going off on them, you're able to hear the music, the carnival rides all lit and going...

Yeah, really missed that in FH2, and looks like it's gone even more in 3.

That moment you lose connection to the radio station in the cave and then come back out at the beach. My fucking jaw.

It seems easier to grab direct feed videos from this E3. Maybe devs have finally allowed a simple USB plug-in on the demo rigs? Can't say I'll miss shaky potato shit, and quite right in 2016.

Yeah agreed! All we need is that Gamersyde B-Roll. Based Helios, let us have it!

Atmosphere.

Yeah agreed. I hope we still get a real festival atmosphere. That being said the fact we have basically a fully fledged career creator with the ability to seamlessly play anybody else's created events is amazing with 4 Player Co-op cross-play.

Rubber banding seems quite prominent after comparing those two gameplay videos. The driver in the second video slowed down, stuffed up plenty of times and went off-route a fair bit and still 'just' won by a similar margin to the first, who drove a lot, lot cleaner.

I guess it's needed in a game like this to keep things exciting?

Edit: I was comparing these two videos (as a third was added where the player comes second):

I want a giant "Burning Man" style festival in the middle of the desert that you can see from miles away at night.

I can only imagine how much nicer the livery editor will be to work with on PC controls. Click and drag mouse controls for vinyl shapes would be fantastic.

Likely so, though now I'm curious how it would do that in their 4 player co-op races. Who would the AI be rubber banding off of?

I think it's needed on such open racing games, but I found it far to heavy rubber banded in the grand finale race of FH2.

I think it's because a road trip to a certain location, not a race. The AI matches your speed, just like Horizon 2 so it feels like you're apart of a group. That's if you're talking about when the Lambo/Trophy truck drives to the beach.

Mmm. Good point. Maybe it's disabled entirely for co-op events.

Actually, it'd be nice if there was a option to toggle rubber banding off for all events (including SP), but then that would bring attention to it and rubber banding is normally a thing devs don't like to overtly talk about (apart from saying it doesn't exist in game X).

Looking at the footage the festival is taking place by the coast.
