To get enemy cards it seems
Similar to Sticker Star, then, right? Instead of EXP increase, you got stronger and stronger cards that allowed you to take on harder and harder enemies. It's been a while so I might be misremembering.

When's Super Paper Mario 2.0 then.
no leveling whatsoever

I imagine this game was made in response to Sticker Star's sales and not its feedback.

Again, compare to install base. Wii games sold a lot because wii install base was massiveWhy do sales always get brought up? It's too simplisitic of an argument.
Super Paper Mario did the most by far.
The next game proceded to be the opposite of Super Mario Mario.
Going by sales, Sticker Star should've been a dissertation essay of dialogue with platforming, no battle transition, and 50 original chracters
it's not sales. It's them doing whatever they want
I don't know about this game. It looks great, but I hate the resource dependent battle system in Sticker Star.
The color bar as a max value showed in numbers. It is pretty obvious that the value can change, improving by playing. They also added strategy to card battles with color level and actual better fitting cards depending on the enemies and in doing so they added value to the environmental exploration that gives you the cards and the colors refillsSo... why fight battles? That can waste paint...
I think you may be able to level up your max paint?
Yes... in fact I remember I had to time presses for almost any kind of attack.Did you have to time jumps and hammer attacks in Sticker Star?
No, you need to blame the people that bought Sticker Star. Can we blame Miyamoto this time though?
It's not like Nintendo's recent output has been defined by business acumen. What does that even mean in the context of the franchise being 4 games old at that point (as in wouldn't a previous game be in response to sales + critical acclaim),
this not even being the best selling Paper Mario, and this being a follow up on the Wii U and not the 3DS?
I mean, you're probably right but that just makes them seem a bit... misguided.

Gotta figure out something to do with all those Toads, without any fun characters to leverage.Searching for Toads? This is exactly like Paper Jam.
Why... just why?
Again, compare to install base. Wii games sold a lot because wii install base was massive
This honestly doesn't look that bad. It's disappointing that there's no exp and it's just a bunch of toads instead of actual characters but maybe it will be decent?
Dude, uh... Notice the 3DS install base compared to gamecube or even N64 install base?? That's a big reason why sticker star did better than PM64 or TTYD.Again, compare to install base. Wii games sold a lot because wii install base was massive
