E3 2016s "Cringe" Moments

The adults running down the show floor to play new Zelda game

Reminds me of the the people crying at twilight princess reveal

So embarrassing

Reminded of those videos from German stores when people were rushing to get PS4's at launch. All it needed was that Don Matrick gif thrown on a TV or something,"Nooo... Dont!"

This, by a mile. Fake team chat and I'm sure one of them even whispered "let's go" to his friends when they were close to enemies. So fake, it was hard to concentrate on the game.

It's so ironic that a voice acting "player" whispering during a stealthy part of the game is actually what gives away the facade.

In a party/team chat, no one whispers, because there's no reason to.

Fuck you this was hilarious

Harada just giving a regular deadpan conference speech in that ridiculous getup was fantastic

Far better than like 95% of the attempts at humor during the conferences

I thought the Nintendo thread was closed due to entitled fanboy whining, didn't realize it was the pervy comments. In hindsight, that makes more sense. But I just remember seeing a couple long NOT MY ZELDA posts and leaving the thread due to cringe.

Yes; I hated this with The Division reveal, and I hated it here too. I loathe this engineered tryhard 'natural' dialogue, where everyone behaves like they know military parlance.

Fake team chat, grim Nintendo thread, those two idle Minecraft presenters and roflstomping newbies (and one word = two words lol) were definitely all high scoring for cringe moments. All mentioned a lot here mind. One that hasn't is that awful loud talkyfuck at the front of the Sony conference.

They look like Stevie Wonder playing piano.
You are a bad person.
As am I.
Expected this to be the new neogaf meme but I didn't see a lot of people commenting it afterwards.

What did they even mean by that
Using .BMP for textures.
The Sony video was just embarrassing and tone deaf as it started by just showing some girl with big boobs wearing a bathing suit flirting with the "player," showed a 30 second terrible gameplay demo, and then ended with some huge announcement that you got to play as some guy riding around with scantily glad girl with big boobs... It's just like... how tone deaf is Square Enix?
Link, please?

The thing I cringed at most was a post right here on GAF when one of the Treehouse employees was demoing Zelda:

jackshun said:
Jesus Christ! Why is this chick wearing such a tight t-shirt?? And why is she wearing lingerie on her arms?

I guess that is fine if that is what she likes to wear, but there is a time and a place for hyper-sexualizing yourself, and a public broadcast by a company watched by millions might not be the best time? I don't want to see a guy in tight leather pants and I don't want to see a chick in tight leather pants.

I'm sure I am wrong for thinking this and it will be explained why soon.

"lingerie on her arms"

I cringed for Bill when the Thank You for Playing demo screen came up. It was extremely minor considering all the content shown on that game. Had that been the only content shown and conflicted with talking points it could have been much worse.

I think they are referring to the VR demo of FF15. Where you have FP mode looking at that half naked gas station girl, then later you're in a car with her, ogling her. That did seem out of place and kind of creepy to have in the presentation. It was the only thing that I thought was really embarrassing at Sony's conference.

Bethesda.

the more I look at that the funnier it gets

Some guys including me got very "irritated" by a pair of pretty massive body parts in a Nintendo Treehouse presentation.

Speaking on behalf of those who maybe went a little too far...they were out there and pretty much in your face, nuff said.

I personally would accept "sexism"-accusations for the way I got carried away, but in my dictionary "perv" is not the correct term here and I feel very offended by being called this way and think this is ban-worthy.
ok, jk

Sorry, to all of you who feel offended by pre-mature sex-related jokes.
Wait... In your face? She was wearing a t-shirt. Nothing revealing. Nothing sexual. How is that her problem? Sounds more like you and others have the problem...

And how is that even irritating?

Edit: now seeing he's been banned. Still though.. Wtf.

After seeing this, the tweet, and what happened in this very thread, the Treehouse thread has to be the most cringeworthy thing to come out of this E3. Technical issues and awkward interviews are nothing compared to people who have no control over their hormones.

That was really nothing. Yeah, embarassing, but already established.

More like it.

Awkward pauses and waiting to throw to another segment or video are part of the business when you are airing live, so less cringe. The Trials of the Blood Dragon stuff was fine. EA's Battle 1 celeb stuff gave us the best part of E3 2016: #WEED3. Just not seeing all that much cringe, just a lot of hilarious stuff to laugh at. If you want some real cringe, just swing over to some of the Minecon vids or the numerious cringe compliation vids on YT.

Actually, most of my Cringe moments have been threads and posts in Neogaf, this year. That Sony A/V stuff was pretty funny though.

Looking through a few other videos, some moments are kinda bad, but not too bad. That screaming lady one tho from Bethesda was fucking hilarious, especially the GB reactions. I think she legitimately scared Dan Ryckert on Sunday.

That was a classic #trintroll

Is that really common, to use that word as a slur?
Never heard it before, but I live in Germany, so have not that much relation to it.

Not nearly as common anymore, but I think it was still pretty prevalent in the 90s. I heard it a lot growing up in rural Virginia.

That presentation did rub the wrong way, because it's clear (to me, anyway) that they wanted to use "coon" instead of "raccoon" for purely an attempt at humor w/a slur.

What about the E3 highlights? Point and Clickbait reports:

Early footage of the game shows a now-bearded Kratos watching The Shawshank Redemption in his single-bedroom apartment and sobbing. Incredible stuff.
Kojima unveiled the first look at his new game, which has the working title of Norman Reedus’ Dick. “It’s quite literally 70 hours of Norman Reedus’ dick,” Kojima confirmed, struggling to make himself heard over the still-cheering crowd, many of whom were now shirtless and/or masturbating. “I’m not even kidding about this. Why are you all still applauding?” he added, before leaving the stage in confused bewilderment.
There was a brief error in the presentation where Sony appeared to be announcing an open world zombie survival game, but Sony PR have now assured us that that would be “totally lame, haha” and confirmed that they “have no idea how that got there”.
Opening up his torso to reveal a complicated artificial neuroskeletal system lit with a soft, friendly green glow that spoke of inhuman knowledge, Spencer explained that something called “Scorpio” was coming and would be built using technology from “our benefactors, who only want the best for us”.
It’s important not to be mean to our friends at Nintendo, especially after that horrible tachyon field accident at their headquarters which saw every Nintendo executive permanently shifted three years into the past.
While there was still no news on the next console, Nintendo did confirm that it would have “the latest and greatest technology that is available to us in this, the year 2013, which is the year it is currently”.
A new expansion for The Division called Ghost Recon: Wildlands was announced, with Tyler eagerly announcing that “only seven games remain” until “the ancient curse inflicted upon us by a dying Tom Clancy is lifted, and we are finally free”.
The presentation of the Mass Effect Andromeda trailer was halted briefly as a clique of Social Justice Warriors stormed the stage, taking BioWare developers hostage and forcing them to add a female protagonist to the game in real time. “I don’t want to,” stammered the BioWare developer as the SJW’s feminism pressed into the hollow of their throat, drawing a trickle of blood. “This isn’t what real gamers want!” “Shut up,” said the SJW, dying their hair blue with their free hand. “Just do what I tell you or I’ll shame you online!!!”
“And make the Asari not conventionally attractive, so that men won’t want to fuck them!” another SJW added, misandrily. The BioWare developers whimpered as they complied.
remastered HD Skyrim is due to be released later this year, with Bethesda engineers hard at work copying and pasting the best HD texture mods from the PC version but ignoring the mods which make breasts bigger, make breasts shinier, make breasts bounce, add more breasts, cover the breasts in fur, and replace wagon wheels and shields with floating orbs of breast flesh.

:D
Sorry, didn't know where else to share this, but I thought it was hilarious.

Can't say I really disliked a whole lot that was shown during E3. The only one I can think of was Gears of War 4's demo. The dialogue was soooo bad (even for a Gears game).

Why? Some gaffers were in that and it felt like a pretty genuine showcase
Some of the people playing Sea of Thieves in that video were GAFers? I thought it was painful to watch. The game looks really fun, but the commentary from the players was tough to get through. It seemed like some of them were forcing their enthusiasm to please Rare/MS.

Yup

I assure you that we were not faking it. I understand how it may come across that way, but it wasn't. It was legitimate expressions from us having a blast with the game. It's seriously a lot of fun!

They didn't tell us anything. Legit nothing. Not what to expect or how to react. We were lead into a booth with the game and as soon as the TV turned on the magic started.

HA! Lol. Those are pretty damn funny. Overall, I think this E3 was less awkward than ones in the past. Except for Ubisoft. I think they just have way too much fun, and have embraced how fucking weird this industry is. A lot of us are introverted, shy, weird people, and having to get up on stage and present something that we enjoy working on in the quiet solitude of our offices is terrifying. It's why we get celebrity presenters who have to issues with stage fright. I'm glad I've never had to work an E3 (although I almost did one year for Capcom). I prefer to just walk the show floor and chat with people, not demoing games or, even worse, stand on a stage and talk. Maybe it's just me. I get horrible stage fright.

Yeah, it has maintained a pretty stable level popularity as a racial slur, especially in the US:
