Steam Summer Sale 2016 |OT| It's better than nothing

Ok I have about 6 bucks in the wallet from the winter sale of cards. I'm going to do the best buy 2 $20 dollar gift cards for 36 bucks and I'm going to grab:

South Park: Stick of Truth
Life is Strange Complete
The Evil Within
Wolfenstein: New Order
Metal Gear Rising

Not a bad haul for 37 bucks

Might still pick up Tales from the Borderlands before the end of the sale. But I think I'm pretty much done. Squenix sucks at sales in the worst way. Really wanted to finish out my FF collection or get a good deal on Rise of the Tomb Raider.

EDIT: is the best buy gift cards deal online only or can I walk into the store to get the deal?

Not sure if this applies in this case, but some developers have in the past jacked up the base price of their games during the sale just to make consumers think they are getting a really good discount.

Kind of like shopping at Kohl's.

Well, okay, that would be pretty shitty. Isn't there anybody here that bought the bundle before the sale started and can at least confirm or deny my price?

BTW, what is the best way to get the Mass Effect series? Steam has 1 and 2 in a bundle for 8 bucks, but Origins has the trilogy for 15?

If you're a pretty quick gamer, you can join the Origin Access for $5.00 (or I guess $4.00 USD) a month and play all 3 games. If you think you can beat all the games (about 20-40 hrs each) in two months that'd be the cheapest way.

Maybe it's just us getting used to discounts and first-time "oh my, look at all those discounts" moments having worn off, not the sales becoming bad.
People new to Steam seemed to enjoyed the last sale etc.

No they're definitely getting worse.

Just took a gander at the Assassin's Creed page, for instance, and saw that they're selling AC3 for $10. That's been $5 many times before (including the Winter Sale). AC1 is also $10, which is baffling because I bought that in 2009 for $5.

So I can either get
Umihara Kawase and UmiharaKawase Shun Steam Edition
or just
Sayonara Umihara Kawase.

Which games are better? Or maybe I should ask which is the best starting point?

So I was finally able to look at my wishlist and pretty much everything is on sale at acceptable but not OMG drop everything prices.

Probably gonna get Dragon's Dogma and maybe one more thing and call it off. The sales missed me by just a small margin though. A couple bucks here and there and I'd have bought 6-7 more games.

Strange how that psychology works, but I honestly have a threshold that once crossed makes it easy to justify.

As usual with these post-flash Steam sales, my experience went like this:

If that's the case, then when the flash sale system was in place it was like this.

The games I bought are in my library but the purchase didn't finish going through, they're still in my cart and I didn't get a confirmation email? What's going on?

I'm surprised that Stellaris is on sale. Only 10% off, mind, but it's a practically new game that's selling well. Worth it for those interested.

You can get Stellaris from GMG any day for 20% off and even 25% if you can find one of those codes floating around.

I believe so, yes, but it is a short (4-5 hour) game and it'll definitely be cheaper later so if price sensitivity is an issue for you you might want to hold out.

Thanks, Yeah i guess I'll wait. It was probably going to go into the backlog anyways if I got it now, still not done with Blood and Wine yet.

Doubt it. I remember when AAA games were going for 50-99% off. Now they are barely scratching 10%

It's possible Ubi is stubbornly doing dailies again.

Ubisoft definitely seems to be the worst offender. Seeing a ton of stuff only discounted by 50% that's been 75% off in previous sales.

Does the BFG version of Doom I and II come with separate files for modding compatibility ?

If you want to play Doom 3, grab the standard version. It's objectively better than the BFG version as there are tons of mods.

Yeah I wanna play brutal doom... Not sure you can with the bfg edition. Plus I believe brutal doom got a nice update recently. I think!

Yes, once you buy the BFG edition you should be able to just go into the folder and pull the WAD files out and plug them into any source port of Doom/Doom2.
