Good arcade side scroller, amazing soundtrack.

Simple fun puzzle platformer, amazing to play with friends in co-op (and pretty much required).

Neo Scavenger: http://store.steampowered.com/app/248860/

One of the hardest, but most in-depth survival games on steam.

Amazing idea for a thread, should have one of these for each sale. Thanks a ton, Dusk Golem, for your time making this. My recommendations (shamelessly grabbing from the OP):
  • Dark Souls (the one game I believe to be mandatory playing for everyone).
  • Undertale (don't let the obnoxious fandom drive you away, this is a genuine gem).
  • Crypt of the Necrodancer (ridiculously fun and addicting, have put dozens of hours on it).
  • To the Moon (possibly the best story I've ever experienced in a videogame, certainly the only one that's made me cry).
  • Invisible Inc. (bought it precisely because of this thread and it's amazing, pure cyberpunk roguelite).

Recomendations:

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC and The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, some of the best jrpgs ever made.

Resident Evil Revelations 2: one of the best games in the franchise.

Dark Souls: what more can be said? One of the very best games ever made.

The differences are mainly in the setting (Seattle, Berlin, Hong Kong). Gameplay gets better each game but is in the same vein throughout.

You don't need to play all three as they're all but entirely standalone. Most people recommend skipping Returns and moving straight to DF and HK.

Dragonfall and Hong Kong are probably 15-25 hours depending on how you like to play. Dragonfall was initially an expansion, but the directors cut made it standalone and larger.

Characters are obviously subjective, but I think it has probably the best characterization of any recent game
I've played. The writing is fantastic and the characters all feel really well realized.

I think it's time for me to jump in, this franchise has been on my radar for a while, love srpgs.

Aquaria

Price: $2.49

Here's a game I still think about often. Aquaria is metroidvania game that takes place almost entirely underwater. You switch between various forms to travel faster, fight better, and solve puzzles. There's a simple crafting system for healing and buffs. The graphics are gorgeous, and the story is simple and sweet. The bosses are big and challenging. It is not an aquarium simulator.

It bothers me that the image in the OP says '20 bucks'

Why not 'twenty bucks' or '$20'?
Half numbers, half words looks amateurish.

How do people find all these bundles? I mean, shouldn't Steam have a page with "Summer bundles" or something? I only found them because a friend sent me a link. And searching for "Summer bundle" on Steam only shows those
rOktrXF.png

But looking at OP it seems there are more.

Also, why is there no "Neptunia bundle"? There are a bunch of different ones and a bunch of DLC, come on Compile Heart.

I'd also like to recommend (if two separate recommendations are allowed) Life Is Strange

A powerful and exciting adventure game, and easily one of my favorite games from 2015. Currently on sale for $9.99 for the complete season, which is I believe the lowest it's ever been.

I have bought Reccetear and Invi?isble Inc.

My weekend is set. This is a great thread and I have seen other stuff that I will put on my wishlist. Thank you, OP. You did good making this thread. Well done.

DuckTales remastered

Currently available for USD 4.94

A colorful 2D remake of the NES classic. Cutscenes can be skipped by pausing the game and pressing a button. Well worth getting if you need more 2D platformers in your life or for the little kids to play through.

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara

Currently on sale for USD 4.94, with a 4-pack @ USD 14.84

This release features 2 of Capcom's best beat'em-ups ever made. Being a licensed title, it has the risk of being delisted. Has online and offline modes and supports up to 4 players. Even if you've never played Capcom's beat'em-ups before, this is a must have for your steam library.

Dyscourse

Currently on sale for USD 4.49

This is a 'Choose your own Adventure' kind of game, where choices do matter and affect the outcome of events. There are multiple endings which encourage replaying the game again to see how different events unfold.

Enslaved

Currently on sale for USD 4.99

It is very difficult to recommend this game as the combat and overall gameplay don't have much to speak of being very straight forward. This is one of those 'style over substince' kind of games, but the voice acting and character interactions make it worth giving it a chance. You can also play a separate 'campaign'where you play as Pigsy which is more puzzle focused. Andy Serkis does the voice of the protagonist Monkey.
The outdated graphics really show, although an HD Texture mod is in the works.

Epistory

Currently on sale for USD 9.89

Take the concept of Typing of the Dead and apply it to a game with a papercraft fairy tail setting and you get Epistory. If you enjoy Typing Tutors and their ilk you may like this game as well. Just be sure to play it in short sessions as the game is repetitive with all the typing, although it does have a few decent puzzles.

I've spent around $40 on 11 games so far thanks to this thread. LOL Will continue to keep an eye on it -- thanks for all the great recommendations!

Victor Vran - $4.99 - 75% off

One of the most underrated recent ARPG's I've played. So good, one of my favorites honestly in the genre. Very good combat, some cool secrets unlike other APRG's, tons of content, the voice of Geralt from The Witcher series, plays great with a controller or mouse, very fast paced. It's a very good ARPG if you're looking for something different. This one was worth it at full price, @ $4.99 if you enjoy it even a bit, be prepared for atleast 20-30+ hours of play.

Second this, I bought it off GOG and it is so good. It's a mix of Guild Wars 2 style weapons and Diablo, plus Geralt.

So that's 2 recommendations Dusk Golem. Let's see if I can get a game on the front page this year ;)

Victor Vran's character design gives me too many douche chills to put it in my library. It's probably the closest I can get to truly understanding how some female character designs must make women feel.

It doesn't require the base game. Returns isn't a bad game but it felt pretty archaic the moment I played an hour or two of Dragonfall. I wouldn't tell someone not to play it, but I'd definitely say play it before you play the rest as it would be really hard to go back. The stories themselves are almost entirely standalone.
You can actually play Returns in Dragonfall engine. Dragonfall is one of the best written RPGs in years. It's a true no-brainer in this sale. Ton of gameplay and replay for $3. True gem.

Escape Goat 1+2

Both games are 50% off each.

The duology are puzzle platformers where you are given a series of hazards and objects which you must overcome and utilize to complete the stage in order to progress. At first they start simple enough but later stages require you to think a bit more. Otherwise they're great for fans of the puzzle platformer genre.

DanganRonpa 1+2

The bundle is currently going for USD 40 for both games

This (current) duology of Visual Novels got great acclaim when it was localized for the PSVita. Now you can experience the Thrills, Chills and Kills that the students of Hope's Peak Academy struggle through with this faithful PC port release...which you can even MOD to make and make your own scenarios with, like DanganWWE.

Freedom Planet

Currently on sale for USD 7.49

If you are a fan of the SEGA Genesis or Mega Drive, then you just have to get this game, as it is a great tribute to platformers of that system. The game has a story but you can play through the game with cutscenes disabled. Each of the 3 characters has their own unique skils and abilities, although Lilac will remind players of Rocket Knight and Sonic. The visuals feel lifted straight from the MD era and the game's soundtrack is superb.

Grandia II

Currently on sale for USD 9.99

It's disheartening when classic jRPGs such as this don't manage to make it past the 100K owners mark despite how often Steam users clamor for quality Japanese games and classics. It is an overall good port of a good game, and if you have an interest in jRPGs def. grab this game during the sale. Note that this release is moddable.

Grim Fandango Remastered

Currently on sale for USD 3.74

For the longest time it was thought this game would never get re-released, and now here it is. This release runs fine and features 2 control options.

Tizoc, you're going *in*! Do you have an arcade stick to play all these fighting games and shmups you like?

I'm a pad warrior through and through ^^;
I've been playing fighters and shmups with a PS controller for years.

I'm going to buy Shadowrun Dragonfall but I already own Boston Lockdown from a modbot giveaway, which should I play first?

Boston Lockdown should be played first.
Dragonfall is the better game in the current series.

Victor Vran's character design gives me too many douche chills to put it in my library. It's probably the closest I can get to truly understanding how some female character designs must make women feel.

You mean the way he's dressed? Cuz you don't really see him upclose and personal.

There's several different outfits :/

Yea Boston Lockdown is a different game from a different developer. They basically retooled the failed Shadowrun Online MMO into several solo playable modules. They are pretty shit.

The games prefixed with Shadowrun Returns are the games you want.

Castlevania Lords of Shadow

Currently going for USD 7.49, cheapest so far

A God of War-like game bearing the Castlevania name, while higher difficulties could prove a challenge, it's a decent game for what it is. Gabriel's attacks have nice weight to them when they connect. While this game is nothing like its predecessors, it can scratch that God of War (3D action beat'em-up) itch.

To me, it's one of the best games ever made. It also features more than 50 different environments. This is insanity for an action-adventure game. From amazon rain forests, to ruins, to caves, to clock towers, to mountains, to churches, this game has it all and it's art direction is top notch. The DLC stumbles though, it's very hard and not as well designed as the main game. Art directtion is still great, just feels rushed.

I recommend buying Shadowrun Trilogy and playing that instead. It's a much better use of your time and they are better games by far.

Oh, OK, this is pretty confusing lol.

The epilogue chapters, that people ranted for being 'the true ending' is so bad it makes people ranting about it be well...laughable :V
It's a disappointing epilogue really, but otherwise the game is good.

Super Mega Baseball: $9.99 (50% off)
- Matches its lowest price yet.
- 89% positive out of 285 user reviews.

Best non-OOTP baseball game on the PC since MVP 2005. Now I know that isn't exactly saying much when the alternatives have been the 2K and RBI Baseball series, but this is still a surprisingly terrific game that blends arcade presentation with more realistic gameplay. The pitching specifically has a surprisingly amount of depth and strategy that I wasn't expecting from a budget game. It lacks online MP and doesn't have a ton of modes (Exhibition and Season, that's it) but if you've got an itch for baseball, don't own a PS4, and don't want to spend your time looking at spreadsheets, this is the way to go.

My Gem for this Thread is Alien: Isolation
vVjT2MG.gif

It's a fantastic survival horror experience, one of the scariest and most thrilling games I ever played. On top of that it's a near perfect replication of the original Alien Movie sets.

And for only 12$ you simply can't go wrong if you are even a little interested in survival horror or the Alien franchise. It's also quite a long game, took me almost 20 hours.

Also Castlevania LOS completely destroys the consoles in the graphics and performance area. Consoles ran at low 20 fps and the PC runs at 60 fps.

I would like to recommend The Amber Throne. It is a beautiful 2D jrpg with hand drawn art. The gameplay is basic but entertaining. If you like traditional jrpg you would like this one.

I also want to second the Thea: The Awakening and Shadowrun: Dragonfall recommendations. Both are amazing games for their genre

Gunman Clive 1 and 2

A 2D platformer that was originally released on the 3DS. It will remind people of the Megaman series, although the game is straight forward and linear. The games are overall pretty solid and worth checking out.

Heroine's Quest

This is a Free game available through Steam. It is inspired by the Quest for Glory and King's Quest series, and any fan of those games should def. try it.

Higurashi When they Cry

This new official release on PC for the series features new cleaner artwork. Don't be fooled by its joyful beginning and generic character designs, when this game starts going dark, you'll want the happy times back. Strongly suggested to be played with headphones. Currently 3 episodes are up.

HuniePop

Currently on sale for USD 3.09, and can be modded to be uncensored

Putting aside its sexual elements, the game is a good Match 3 puzzle game if you're into that.

Judgement Silversword

On sale for USD 3.24

This a collection of Wonderswan games.
Yes ye olde handheld games are getting a release on Steam. These are more traditional Shoot'em-ups, and their music is quite good. This is worth checking out if you're into shoot'em-ups.

I got The Long Dark last night and, man, that game is awesome! I started playing to try it out and had about 4 hours disappear on me and I wanted to keep playing, I just couldn't because work. :(

How is A Boy and His Blob on PC? I really liked the Wii version, I'm curious how it plays on an Xbox controller..

It's a good port, although you may want to read up on how to switch movement controls from analog to the d-pad.

I highly recommend LIFE IS STRANGE too
Fantastic narrative-driven game and it's the only video game to make me cry. Therefore, I cannot recommend it enough.

I also recommend HUNIEPOP
It is surprisingly fun game with some funny humor and relatively decent voice-acting. There's some explicit stuff in there, though. I need an adult!

Also recommended Blackwell Series
Fantastic point-and-click adventures. I hate that I have to wait another few months before I can play it again without remembering every puzzle solution.

I also recommend THE LONG DARK
A survival game at its core and its atmosphere is awesome. The dev is still working on the story mode, but the survival mode alone managed to get quite a few hours out of me. It's gorgeous walking around in the snow among trees and frozen lakes.

I also recommend The Beginner's Guide
I was perplexed by it, but loved it by the end. I recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind a very short narrative-driven experience about... stuff. It only took me under two hours to complete, but I still think it's awesome and the story is very interesting.

Alright, awake and settled, so I'll be resuming work on this in a small bit. Starting with updating everything from the topic, but keep it coming y'all!

Please name them.

Who has played this? Is it any good? It's $1.49

Also $1.49

It's very oldschool, not particularly easy and can be grindy, depends on how you play it. For that price, I'd say it's no brainer, so long as you don't expect it to be FF or Trails.

edited: here is my review on it, btw

Alphadia is pretty good for what it is a generic mobile JRPG, the downside is no controller support.

Thanks for your input.

I highly recommend Invisible Inc.

It's an amazing turn-based stealth game and one of the best games I've played this year.

I've made a detailed post in a previous thread why I think it's so good.

I absolutely agree. I bought it and the sound track. Really amazing stuff. What are your thoughts on Hitman Go and Deus Ex Go. Just curious.

I can recommend Punch Club if you like the Kairosoft games. (Game Dev Story, GP Story etc.)

You're a boy who's boxing father gets killed at the beginning of the game and you decide as a child to follow the same career.

You'll have to eat, sleep, work and train everyday while keeping all that balanced so your stats will grow, making you a stronger and better boxer. There's a talent tree with all kinds of moves to choose from even.

The training is done for matches you will play, starting in the lower leagues and making your rise to the top, while the backstory of your father's murder unfolds. (your boxer fights on his own, you can decide his moveset and tactics though)

It has a lot of cool 80s references too, still enjoying the game from time to time on iOS.
