It sort of does. It depicts her being held up naked in a Christ-like pose in the background of the cover (ala the eclipse scene).
It seems likely that Koei Tecmo are attempting to get some mileage out of the most recent movie series. I'm sure a significant percentage of their audience are only familiar with the Golden Age arc - in which the eclipse is the most iconic scene.

IIRC they've already commented that the Japanese and western releases will be different in terms of sexual content and violence based off of the local tolerance for each.

Who ever manages his source material needs to be flat out fired. I'm sure Young Animal has more of a say so as to who gets to use his manga more so than him.
I personally thought Berserk was too good to be turned into some cannon fodder licensed Musou game.
It was already announced for localization and K-T does not censor games for the western release. If anything, they make them more violent. Ken's Rage, Nioh, the Ninja Gaiden games etc. are all more gory than the Japanese versions. Neither version of this game will actually have nudity, anyway, since Japan's ratings board doesn't allow it in console games.
The DLC costume is pretty tasteless, but it's not like you'll be forced to get it or use it.

Haven't read this series but this is sickening. I'm big when it comes to getting attached to characters and it's the whole reason I do fiction. This is just f'd up.

Hoo boy, hold on fam. Some of the events in Berserk legit made me angry reading them. That rarely happens in any media and that's why I consider it such a powerful narrative.
I do greatly dislike how heavily rape is used as a theme though.
Agreed. I understand why the scene and outfit may be in the game, but to advertise it so heavily when there's much better content and story to advertise is just tasteless. I wont be buying it.
Yeah, stay away from Berserk in that regard. It is rough on your emotions if you get attached to characters. Which is the reason why many people feel this marketing is tasteless.

I wasn't too interest in this game to begin with, but now it is definitely blacklisted. This kind of sh*t is beyond tasteless.

They won't use that cover for the western version, stores won't want to stock it. A lot of games even have to cover up cleavage for the western box art.

I'm fine with my characters being put through the ringer. Im sickened by this DLC(not the event from the series) and the marketing of it. It's such a sad thing in the series and they present the whole thing in a positive light. It's messed up.

I cannot support something that misunderstands and openly markets such a scene and betrays the source material like this. It just feels wrong and I will not be purchasing. Hopefully other Berserk fans follow.

Well this is a great success for Tecmo-Koei. It's only been 12 days since the reveal and they've already succeeded in pushing plenty of people away from ever reading Berserk.

Why are you assuming all posters in this thread only get western releases? The fact they're marketing the game like this is disgusting, and I don't care if it's not even the box art. Promoting this game and putting that scene in the forefront makes me disgusted, and I don't think it's beyond anyone to not purchase because of that knowing the full story and the actual context of what they're trying to promote.
That's why I was hoping for the impossible (Miyazaki to run that shit) to happen when another Berserk game would come up.

For what it's worth, this is the marketing for KT not the actual devs. That costume might actually have been cut content or used appropriately in game but the devs might have been forced by PR to repackage it as DLC. Very small chance but still.
Atleast I hope it went like that. Anyone connected with Berserk would know how important scenes are in context.
It's ALL of the marketing not just the dumba ass cover. And the West doesn't = all of NeoGAF.

Then I assumed wrong. For what it's worth I'm getting both the Japanese version as well. And the Western one when it comes out.
I'm also completely for not having that image of her on the cover (assuming it's the actual cover art) but it's certainly not something that's going to stop me from picking up what looks like an absolutely fantastic BERSERK game from what we've seen so far.
Not just for Guts motivation but for the manga as a whole,
Casca's rape seems like a more critical event than the death of the whole band with how much of the manga revolves around the outcomes of that event(the child and the quest for curing PTSD Casca). That and, even during the eclipse, it was clear what was more important for Guts.
I'm a bit confused, what's your point?

Everything about this game from the teaser to this is just fucked. That rape scene in the manga was messed up and I don't even like remembering it much and the fact they're using it for marketing is disgusting. Don't know how and why someone would try justifying this.
In context it's a pretty sad scene. She went from being one of the most compotent and determined characters to basically being child-like and traumatized. Then she has a miscarriage a couple of pages later.
