Most of them are super cheap, I'm already past the point of no return with Kingdom's of Amalur, stick of truth and divinity. Maybe I can hold off on pillars of Eternity for a complete edition with the white March expansion pass? Otherwise I'm not sure what else I could drop. I'm working 40 hours but I'm home from school so I still have tons of free time.

I mean, if you'll play them, then by all means buy them all, but stuff like Wasteland 2 has been cheaper. If you drop PoE and Wasteland 2 that's $38 there you could save or spend on some of the unsure games.

what's the best space 4x around these days?

It's not exactly a typical 4X, but Stellaris has been a pretty big hit. Endless Space is decent and fairly cheap.

Really I could have sworn the DC of Wasteland 2 has never been cheaper?

Well the base game has been $10 and all copies of the base game include the DC now (and vice versa). It was also in a Humble Monthly so you could probably still find copies on b/s/t for $10 or less I'd imagine.

edit: it's more about all the RPGs than any given one, I just suggest dropping the more expensive ones because they will be cheaper, and that's a ton of RPGs to play. Plus a lot of the stuff on your "unsure" list is experimental and cheaper, and that would be more variety. But honestly the only game on your list most people would probably say "don't buy" is E.Y.E. just because it's so oblique. Well that and Terraria has been cheaper a ton of times.

Would I be able to get in to it if the only jrpgs I've played are the Souls games? Literally never played tales, final fantasy, ys etc.

Valkyria Chronicles? From a gameplay perspective it's got more in common with XCOM than any JRPG I've ever played. The anime stuff is just window dressing and not that in your face.

Yeah I gotchu, it's just that rpgs are my favorite genre so it's almost a given I'll enjoy all of them in some capacity. I know wasteland 2 has been cheaper at the base level but they don't sell that version anymore and the DC hasn't been cheaper than 20 dollars to my knowledge.

Also re: terraria my friend who's a huge fan said if I was interested I should just get it now because it's not a new game so it only goes on sale during holidays really.

Oh neat, I love XCOM. I'm just completely unfamiliar with JRPG systems outside of SRPGs or souls.

Alien Isolation is a weird one for me.

It has amazing atmosphere and manages to be creepy and have tense moments without being as scary as Amnesia or Outlast so I could actually play the damn thing, but it has several moments on hard that are just a chore to get past. I should probably switch to normal to finish it.

Hard isn't like TLOU where it makes the game a lot more tense, it just makes you have to memorize enemy patterns really and it kinda ruins the feeling of the game.

I've heard that the game overstays it's welcome a bit, and that it's quite long.

Looking forward to finally trying it out for myself.

I purchased Alien Isolation and did not like it. It wasn't scary as much as it was annoying.. The game does look very well bringing the movie feel to it.

This is basically how I felt, the first 2 or 3 hours are a love letter to alien fans and then it just gets annoying. I should probably switch to normal to finish the story.

It's definitely worth checking out if you've seen Alien though and I wouldn't say I necessarily disliked it.

I've already spent way too much money, but as I'm looking at some final games I'm interested in I have Valkyria Chronicles, SOMA, and Oxenfree in my cart. Really struggling on deciding one to take out.

Also, Alien Isolation was solid. Beautiful graphics, I felt like it got a little repetitive but they did a good job keeping it fresh later in the game. I love sci-fi horror too, so the Alien universe for a horror game is pretty fantastic. I never tried the survival DLC, but the other ones were great.

Undertale worth playing if you know about the game's main hook before going in?
Mainly how the game remembers and references your previous playthroughs
Only played some of the demo and it hadn't really clicked with me

I did enjoy Lisa though

I got to chapter five and then accepted that the game ended with Ripley dying. I want to go back to it one day, though.

Yes, given this is something that can be found out fairly easily an hour in
(a lot of people restart after the first boss fight to change things)

I don't know if I'd really call it the game's main hook.

Yeah I'd say it is the Demo area is the worst part of the game though it immediately picks up after you leave the Ruins.

I don't feel like that's the worst thing to know beforehand, I believe the game is a lot better if you know that (mechanics spoilers)
there are two endings that you need to play a certain way to trigger
. Otherwise you get a lackluster finish to the game.

Amanda? Is that a spoiler for the game or are you talking Alien 1 movie talk?

Oh or is that a joke that went over my head.

I forgot her name was Amanda and just went with the last name, haha. I couldn't make it past chapter five and died way too many times, so I just accepted that was the end of the game for me. One day, one day...

Completely agree with atleast playing it on normal if you're a fan of the Alien series. There is way better horror games out there.

Humble Monthly's featured game is fucked. Kentucky or Satellite Reign would have been much better calling cards than Hurtworld.

And Blops Multiplayer? Really?

Can you switch mid game? I have it uninstalled and can't check.

Better than the singleplayer by all accounts at least.

Okay, you guys were so great with the last game, here's another game I'm considering:

Okay, so I really liked Hyperdimension Neptunia, but it got a little stale by the end and I can't imagine playing through another of the main series RPGs. I like the idea of the more action based game, but from what I've read this isn't nearly as funny or well written as the RPGs, and is more just a skin on the Senran Kagura games. So I'm wondering if I should just wait for Senran Kagura. Is the gameplay of Neptunia U at least a passable musou style game? Or is it more just an arena mob waves beat em up?

From what I understand both Senran and Neptunia fans both mostly rejected Neptunia U. Like nobody seems to really like the game all that much. In one of the previous steam threads someone posted a video which barely had enemies even moving or attacking.

At least as far as the people that don't like literally everything to do with young anime girls.

The lead game is basically on sale for a month, so it can't really be something that doesn't want to be "devalued." Being unknown prior to release is pretty much the reason they can have games like KR0 and Satellite Reign at all.

Hmmm, okay. I'm definitely looking for something fun to play and the idea of combining Neptunia with that genre sounded appealing, but not if it does neither side well.

What is the consensus on Thea: The Awakening. Worth it at 40% off?

The few mentions I've seen in this and other threads have been nothing but praise.

That's what has me a little confused. It looks like a really good game and has good reviews on Steam yet I don't think I've read one thing about it here (admittedly I haven't done a search) and that concerns me a little as NG is usually all over good games

It strikes me as a bit niche and rather experimental, and it's still pricey for me to jump at. But the people I've seen mention it in here absolutely love it. I suspect if it seems like the type of thing you'll like, then you probably will. It seems to have gotten a lot of free content updates as well.

Debating whether to buy a bunch of cheap games or to buy one big game.

A medium amount of cheap games.

Yeah. I highly recommend Thea. It's micromanagement-heavy by design, and so long as you don't mind that I think most 4X fans would enjoy it.

Like, it's a very good take on 4X, and there's really nothing else like it. There's some cool roguelike and RPG elements, and an interesting setting, that make it easy to fall into. I've sunk dozens of hours into it and only just scratched the surface of what's out there, and the devs recently patched in some more events to broaden its horizons even further.

Lucky person who wins KR0 gets to experience a certain song for the first time
