Tomorrow, if that turns out not to be the shooter, everyone who posted his picture is taking a long ban. Feel free to edit it out if you aren't confident in the news you're presenting.

The picture is being circulated on all of the news channels though (via the Dallas Police Dept)

FWIW, they're posting what the news is showing on TV live.

There is a video of the suspect when the shooting happened. He looks confused

yea, I figured. It's not him. They're looking for the wrong guy.

I'm only editing to not get a ban but it came directly from the police chief. I don't think a ban would be fair at all.

Did you end up deleting my original link? Just want to make sure. Don't want to get banned.

What was Tomi Lauren's tweet?

This thread is moving really fast and I do not want to recklessly speculate. The cynic in me hopes this is not the beginning of another media narrative to incite violence. Peaceful protesting is perfectly fine and now the actions of these monsters killed these officers are going to make life much harder for people across the country.

This is all being fueled through different movements and it's unfortunate that it's coming to this. There's gonna be some serious war in this country.....too much stoking of the flames going on when it's unnecessary.

A friend of mine is a cop in the Dallas area......not cool.

There is no need for any war.

All we need is change, why does this have to be so hard?

Back pic of same guy from reddit

Just walking down the street with an assault rifle. Nope, nothing to see here.

CBS posted that pic as the confirmed person of interest. Not the pic from behind but the other one that ElectricBlanketFire posted.

CNN has another picture of the man from behind.

Definitely. I'd guess military if I just saw him walking down the street.

That big-ass rifle though...WHY IS THIS OK!?!?!?

I wouldn't be shocked if the people who did this were ex military. I mean clearly they had some sort of training.

What is going to happen in this country before things start improving? A full-on revolt against police? There will be war in the streets.

Are you implying it's normal to see people walking around with semi-auto rifles in public in Texas?
things could be far, far worse.

A liberal city in Texas.

Let's get the stereotypes out of here, cities like Houston, Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio are huge international metropolises with many expats from coastal liberal states and huge immigrant populations. They are some of the most liberal places in the country.

Same here.

I've got an early day tomorrow but I'm not gonna be able to sleep with this shit going on.

I know it's about 30 minutes away from where I am right now, but like you said, Dallas is my backyard. It's just hitting so close to home and it's absolutely mental.

As long as your not in the thick of it, you probably don't have a reason to feel unsafe. No sick fuck is going to go door to door mowing down people tonight.

When violence isn't handled, when people who need to answer for brutality don't get questioned, civilians think they need to take things into their own hands.

This is why accountability is important and now, here we are.

Christ, my prayers to the families of the Dallas cops that were injured/killed. And to the protestors who got their peaceful protest ruined by one/two madmen who had enough.

I don't particularly think it's right to blame anyone, however. Something like this was bound to happen because nothing is happening to change the way things are going. It's human nature.

But, also:

It shouldn't have been possible for a civilian to have a FUCKING sniper rifle.

God dammit, America.

To be fair the Dallas PD said it was a suspect and then said oh he's just a POI.

TV: "everyone in downtown has no reason to be there, get out of downtown now"

Motherfucker I live in downtown Dallas.

I really doubt this guy is a shooter; no extra ammo as far as we can see, walking with the crowd. It makes it unlikely that he would get into position before the shooting starts, or even less likely after.

I don't know, just sounds to me like if anyone had carefully planned this and were more than one, they would prepare more stealthily.

I have a hard time believing that could be the subject... it looks like that picture was from the march after the rally, which means he would have only had like 30-45 minutes to set up. The first picture I took of the March is timestamped at 8:22 and I think that pic is later in the march

Regardless of the individual being identified or not as the actual shooter in the coming hours, he is still a person of interest and that information is relevant and important right now.

Something about 'welcome the new KKK it's Black Lives Matter.' And how she says 'Blue Lives Matter.'

Hmm no one has EVER explained why Chicago's gun laws dont stop gun violence in the city. Not once.

Certainly no one has pointed out Indiana is right next door. That would be silly.

Well, the entire country also has pretty strict cocaine laws and that doesn't seem to stop it from entering in mass quantities. I suspect a strict nationwide gun law wouldn't be much different.

I don't know how to fix all these problems. I don't think anyone does.

Exactly. Just reeks of ignorance and not knowing what the fuck they are talking about. Houston is the most diverse city in the union, for instance.

This person being posted, as far as we know right now, is simply a person of interest -- as far as we know, simply because he is a black man following the laws of the state and open carrying.

You guys are basically spinning this so fast that it makes him look like a suspect.

Mind the context: he has been named a person of interest likely BECAUSE he is a black man open carrying and these shootings just happened. And everyone is just repeatedly reporting him as a suspect before there's any actual evidence.

Just because it's Texas doesn't mean every part is the same. I've lived in the DFW area for 30 years not once saw someone walking in public with a gun. I would be extremely uncomfortable if I did.

people do this in open carry states. that in and of itself doesn't imply he's ready to dump rounds into law enforcement officers.

regardless, it's looking pretty likely he wasn't doing the shooting anyway. I think he'll be dismissed as a POI later tonight. People assumed he may have been involved because he's memorable. For all the obvious reasons.
