Glad his brother convinced him to hand over the gun.Mike Leslie of WFAA now has the video of of Dallas PDs original POI handing over his gun to the police back when the shooting first took place. Hopefully more people see it and retweet it.

How is civilian body armor legal? Nevermind I don't think I want to know...
This needs to be everywhere so this brother's life will hopefully no longer be in danger.Mike Leslie of WFAA now has the video of of Dallas PDs original POI handing over his gun to the police back when the shooting first took place. Hopefully more people see it and retweet it.

hrm. I've been hearing a lot of this "the end is coming" talk...I wonder what the hay these guys are onto and who they are with.
People have been known to make their own, crazily enough. Pretty sure the dudes in the North Hollywood shootout in the 90s had some super crazy homemade body armor.
I'm not going to speculate on the motives of the attackers but I do want to say that this assault on police officers might finally make the GOP take up gun control legislation.

This looks like a highly trained, coordinated attack, so I am very comfortable calling it a terrorist attack.
He better take his bro out to Fogo or something for that.Glad his brother convinced him to hand over the gun.
Good lord.

I'm still holding out hope that it's clear enough that it wasn't the protestors. It was an opportunity where a lot of cops were downtown and vulnerable -- that happens several times a year here. They do marathons, parades etc downtown with similar police presences. They'll have to figure out how to do these kinds of things in a safer way regardless and the fact this time happened to be a protest shouldn't be a big factor.I don't mean show up, I mean interact with protesters in an amicable way. Less like guards, but people who are there to help, take pictures with, talk to, etc. That was what was going on at the protest today. Now they'll be trigger-happy for lack of a better term. More blue wall instead of protect and serve.

Maybe a stupid question, but what is this negotiating going on? There aren't any hostages as far as I understand, so what is the suspect trying to "bargain" with? Why can't they just send a tactical team in after him/her?

Doesn't matter. Conservatives are already saying it was BLM and blaming Obama for "race-baiting". I'm really concerned about these next few months in America.
This is just pure insanity, and instantly kills any hope of police demilitarization for the next 10 or even 20 years. Just crushing.

As I posted earlier, if armed officers of the law in an open carry gun friendly state can be mowed down by private citizens, what hope does a "good guy with a gun" have? This has to be the tipping point for them.I'd like to think that but Sandy Hook. Sandy Hook. If killing a bunch of children couldn't make them budge I'm not sure anything can. I'm sure some idiot will just go "But if everyone had a gun then none of this would have happened!"
The only way, ironically, that maybe they'd break was if it turns out the attackers are non-white after all, like the reaction after the BPP started toting.
It is dangerous to engage with an armed assailant, even if the swat team is well trained -- this isn't hollywood. It'd be better if they can somehow solve this safely.Maybe a stupid question, but what is this negotiating going on? There aren't any hostages as far as I understand, so what is the suspect trying to "bargain" with? Why can't they just send a tactical team in after him/her?
Not a suspect. He wasn't a shooter cuz he was in the crowd.
He's just a protestor who unfortunately got dragged through the muck by the media. He had nothing to do with it.
because the group of people who did this clearly didn't have ill-will to the public
this wasn't a "terrorist" attack in the sense of a mass attack on soft targets/civilians.
This was a planned attack on cops, which is why I'm thinking we're dealing with some type of small militia of people who know each other and trained together for whatever reasons.
Maybe a stupid question, but what is this negotiating going on? There aren't any hostages as far as I understand, so what is the suspect trying to "bargain" with? Why can't they just send a tactical team in after him/her?

This was without a doubt an act of terrorism.
