Goodbye and good riddance to you, coward.

Law enforcement system is without a doubt structurally broken and needs fixing. But apparently people like you think people shouldn't complain about it because not every single cop is bad.
You can acknowledge that law enforcement is structurally broken while being less vitriolic towards it and everyone working as a cop.

Skimmed the last 2 pages, didn't quite see an answer, that guy wearing the camo shirt turned himself in, so does that mean he wasn't one of the shooters afterall?

Early on a picture arose of him in the crowd with the gun. Videos after showed him running in the crowd during the gunfire then another video showing him surrendering the gun to police immediately after the shootings. With his brother tweeting those facts between the video showings.

Seems some bystanders got hit as well but doesn't appear any civilians are critical at this time?

Edit: Students in lockdown at El Centro as well. Suspect is trapped and SWAT have him in a standoff.

the bomb threat is most likely just that.

the idiot who held up the cafe in Sydney made all sorts of bomb threats too. he was a fucking lunatic

its just a tactic to make the police use their resources.

Poor choice of words on a night in which people were murdered...

like eff, can't people wait like at least 24-48 hrs before they go in on this nonsense.

Grieving the dead doesn't really exist does it
In 24 to 48 hours we have the next thread about some kind of shooting, so today should be a good day as any to discuss, even though very probably nothing will change anyways.

With how little we know, anyone is free to dream up any theories at this moment.

Yeah, I gotta admit that we're all kinda jumping the gun here given how little we actually know about these shooters. Hell, we don't even know if they're actually black.

Typically yes but we have seen evidence that at least one of the shooters clearly has advanced training. Not just a Yokel with a gun. So if ex Military or militia types are involved the chance of explosives are much higher

I imagine they where injured by ricochet, if it was terrorists they would be targeted people who can't fight back.
This was an aggression of dominance by attacking police officers

CBS making a point to say that Mark Hughes was not involved in the shootings in any way shape or form and apologizing for incorrectly showing his photo. Now showing the video of him handing is rifle over to the cops. Good on them.

This CBS DFW host needs to get a national gig. How can a local station be so much better at covering this than national stations with more resources?

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
Wonder when they'll release details on those in custody.

Probably not until the next press conference tomorrow. I have to imagine the best we can hope for news wise is updates on the ongoing standoff .

Starting a race war is pretty much the white militia manifesto; we'll have to see. I hate to say it but I'd prefer that or some kind of ISIS connection to it being a couple of normal folks who said enough is enoug.

Speaking as a white man here, the obvious "best" case scenario here is the suspects being white, since we are never held accountable as a race for individual actions like minorities are....but none of this matters at all. The suspects will be whatever race they are and no hoping will change that.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Motive isn't really the issue is it? These guys basically took over downtown Dallas and were shooting sniper rounds into crowds, killing police officers, if this isn't terror then what is?

Terrorism has a political agenda.

This will probably be my last post on GAF because of posts I've seen from moderators regarding police officers, but I really fucking hope this will at least help change the minds of a lot of users and moderators alike about cops. There is never a ban penalty here for painting vicious broad strokes encompassing all of law enforcement. There were cops protecting the very people who oppose them tonight, and it disgusts me to think this will still not earn them respect from others.

RIP to the victims tonight and good luck to any cop that willingly puts on their badge tomorrow just like every other day.

All you see in a protest for police accountability is people that oppose police.

Broad strokes indeed.

I can't believe this situation is still so active. There's no guaranteeing everyone is captured. Who's to say there aren't other accomplices who were involved in the planning who weren't part of the operation?

From what I've learned, local news always did it best. When the Boston Marathon bombing occurred, my local news was doing a fine job reporting the event while cable news were making shit up and reporting a lot of errors.

Near El Centro, where suspect is believed to be. Seconds ago, DPD told us to move. Then, a loud boom and what sounded like shattering glass.

It's hilarious, really. Because any reasonable cop will be the first to admit there are significant structural problems with law enforcement, and yet they still have a job to do. I'm sure we could go on and on about the toll the job can take on an individual...PTSD, substance abuse, depression, divorce...but why bother? The twenty-something smarties on GAF know it all!

Not really familiar with this host, but it is probably more likely a local host will care about the community they report on than someone flying in from far away to cover it.

Terrorism has a political agenda.

I can see some political agendas that fit this attack. Maybe some people want to go to war against the government. Maybe some are hoping to pin it on BLM to get more retaliation against them. Speculating is pointless, but this could easily be terrorism.

Local stations always have superior coverage on local stories because they leverage the local resources they work with day in and day out. CNN or MSNBC isn't going to know the hundreds of people CBS DFW know in the area.

I'm not sure what I'm going to feel tomorrow when I put on my badge and go to work. So many emotions going through my mind. I can't shake this feeling. Yes I'm a cop and yes I'm from Texas.

alot of us are just in disbelief and speechless. we're probably going to be mandatory 2 man units for a while.

So 4 suspects involved in this. No way this was spurt of the moment.

you know how they always catch those trucks full of dudes with guns and ammo on their way to wreck shit...well I wonder if this time one slipped through and just used the protest as convenient cover.

Just tuning in, sorry if these questions have been answered

Have they caught or killed any suspects yet? Do they know where they are?
