Shots fired at Police during Dallas Police anti-violence protest (5 officers killed)

In my mind all the shooters involved in this had to have military training, if not combat experience. How could a protest thrown together in response to shootings that happened a couple days ago be the target of such an orchestrated shooting without the perpetrators having knowledge of military planning and tactics?

Like another poster said above I probably watch too many movies for my own good...every time something like this happens I keep fearing it will escalate.

It's impossible to think at least a few cops won't wake up with the same "them vs us" retaliatory mindset that these snipers had today.

If you don't think bad things are bad, then sure.

In the real world, the fact that we have smartphones and PS4's now doesn't change the fact that we're worse off than we were 10 years ago in the West.

I'd like to know where you are getting your stats.

Life expectancy is longer, infant mortality is down, % in extreme poverty is less, literacy rates are higher.

i apologize if it came off crass, but the way i read your comment made it seem like you're characterizing his action.

no need to call me out twice, either. if you've got a problem you oughtta just take it to PM.

I'm still fucking angry, to be honest. But apology accepted.

pip pip cheerio you slags!
Rewatching the video where the cop gets shot around the column, the shooter looks fairly trained, and confident. Then again I don't know how easy/likely it is to get that sort of training. Triangulating and sniping into a crowd and only hitting cops must be pretty good marksmanship. Gonna guess the shooters were ex-military?

I don't know who this guy talking on Fox 4 is but he is right, there will be a subset of people who wake up tomorrow and just......not care or have any sympathy for these officers.

Edit: sources say suspect has shot himself on Fox 4

So this probably wont be called an terrorist attack right? Unless it was a muslim?

Violance is never the sollution, this is just wrong!

You don't seem to understand.

This is a common tactic, the police say they have absolute proof that they did X, then they dwindle it down, change a few details and get them to admit to the crime but manipulated the details to get false confessions.

It's a common tactic, that's what they were trying to do to him.

I am not saying it is impossible.

I have dealt with shitty police myself in the past multiple times. I have had a gun pointed at my head over what ended up just turning into a reckless driving ticket. I've been there when a cop planted shit (weed) in a friend's car. I know what they are capable of to an extent at least.

I am just saying that it can be very easy to interpret their pointed and often times insulting questions as them trying to pin something on you, when they are just doing their job and covering all the different possibilities. I have felt the same when I reported my own damn wallet missing.

Where is this actually coming from? Did he mention something like that in his last interview? Which network was that on? Trying to find footage of it now myself.

You can't walk through any major city in England now without seeing an armed police officer. Not every policeman is armed, but more than ever are. Also all Northern Ireland police officers are armed as standard.

Northern Irish police are armed well, Glock17, MP5 and G3 assault rifles at their disposal.

You really think this is the time and the place to whine about GAF moderation?
Get some perspective man.

Yeah I really don't care. This attack was done by someone who let their emotions take control of them. When you willingly allow people to spread hate about cops, you are perpetuating this mindset. And to be clear, I'm not talking about people who want bad cops to face swift justice, they absolutely should. A murderer is a murderer I don't care if they have a badge or not. But this forum does not give a shit about treading carefully around condemning every cop. People are mocked for "wanting more information", and are weeded out and labeled as racists. For a site that pride themselves in civil discourse this is an absolute embarrassment.

It wasn't. It is not anti-police. It is about accountability and reform. Categorically false statement and if you still don't get it, seek to understand by doing some research.

In other news (cause I can't go to sleep), CBS News is ridiculously professional and the commentary was right on the dot.
I'm just gonna say it again since the thread is moving fast, if you look a bit up I posted about this, I never meant the text but rather the image they used.
