Genuine question... the protests started after 2 back-to-back killings by cops. I know of the one where the woman posted the video... when/where was the other one?
Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge

Actually hates it. But well played.![]()
Must be a fan of Snyder's Superman.
So who is the named suspect? The one arrested?
They've only relayed what was said by the garage shooter. They don't want to release any other details in case there are more suspects out there.
DPD should've taken the suspect alive. If they need a few hours to do it then do it. Blowing him up, I cannot remember that being done before and sets a dangerous precedent.

Killing white people. Killing white cops. When and if they finally catch everyone involved, I'd like to know what they all thought they were accomplishing in doing this.
No. The guy they killed, the active shooter. So who is the named suspect? The one arrested?

Well look at the tools they were given, look at the lives lost, it's an equation that only had one right answer
So who is the named suspect? The one arrested?
Fuck man, 25 years old? You still learning how the world works...
Baton Rouge. A black suspect in front a convenience store, already on the ground with other cops on top of him, was shot repeatedly.
I'm not super comfortable with how they killed him either.
I feel bad for this dude. Part of the protest, exercising his rights. Shooting started and witnesses reported to police that he had something to do with it. Police put out his photo and mistakenly tweet that he's a suspect. Media continues to call him a suspect instead of a person of interest. He was failed by so many people that I'm glad he's okay. His brother was amazing though.
After he killed five of them and they tried negotiating with him for more than four hours to no result.
not really, but its what they did to resolve a situation. Its already done, but it breaks type. He was a danger, but police don't "kill as a last resort", except to protect themselves and others. If this person was just blocked off in an intractable position, the usual thing is to take them alive for more information. ie, waiting him out or otherwise incapacitating him.
Fucking insane. Heard a bunch of good things about this PD unit in this part of Dallas, and then listening to how this guy was treated after he turned himself in. Fucking pisses me off. Those guys seem like highly educated upstanding citizens too from the interviews I've seen, especially the older brother. Thank god nothing happened to them.
Certainly seems like the only way someone could be a good enough shot to do what he did. I honestly couldn't truly comprehend what was happening in the video that was posted last night, but I guess that was him rushing at one of the cops and killing him. It was mentioned elsewhere that was a very militaristic move.
Jada Pinkett Smith seems to think the violence in Dallas was virtually inevitable, saying, "Desperate communities do desperate things."
Why?
He didn't stand down and was actively shooting at law enforcement.
Also by the way you really can't incapacitate people safely in any manner with a gas that knocks them out.
To knock people out either requires giving them potential brain damage or lower their breathing reflex, which can cause asphyxiation and death.
Traquilizer has the same issues with breathing.
It's also why people commonly die from combining alcohol with certain meds. Not from the chemical persay but their breathing reflex gets so shallow or stops completely and they just die from suffocation.
I was going to say one thing we could ask for is more patience. Like what was shown to bundy ranch people. That said 4 hours is enough..
Well it looked like it might have been one of those "expand and explode in every direction on impact after penetration" bullets due to the mini explosions.
I wonder what a "special weapon" even is. Legally you can buy a Springfield Armory M1 and you've essentially got a semi-automatic version of of a military battle rifle that has an extremely similar variant previously used by the military as a sniper rifle.AFAIK there is no bomb materials, he just shouted threats about bombs. The "sniper rifle" here is probably a hunting rifle with a scope, not some kind of special weapon.
Its not about 'how', its about Why they killed him? Justice us not about vindiction.
I am willing to admit the possibility I am completely wrong and they were being complete dicks to him for no reason but hear me out here...
Police questioning is frustrating. It doesn't matter what kind of mundane shit you are talking about. It doesn't go like this:
"So you didn't shoot anybody right?"
"No."
"Okay. Cool."
They ask pointed questions because getting clear answers to those and eliminating any semblance of doubt is the best thing for the person being questioned.
It can feel insulting and degrading, but it is them doing their due diligence so that the reports are completed and filled out with as many details as humanly possible.
Seriously, I felt insulted once when I dealt with police for reporting my own goddamn wallet stolen. After simmering down I realized that it was just them going through the motions to fill out a bunch of bullshit paperwork they were required to do.
edit: but yes, people should be bombarding them with requests to take that tweet down. In fact I am going to right now.
Well, what is the distinction? I mean, it's not like it's an autonomous kill robot. It was controlled by a person, just like all the other weapons in their "wheelhouse".
That tweet is still up. I mean, what the fuck, take it down.
they got it
The fuck is the point of posting a 2 year old video?

The police's primary job is to ensure public safety. Taking out a maniac that has murdered and threatened to continue to murder even as he is actively shooting at the police is ensuring public safety.
They did their job.
I'm pretty sure the shooter is wearing traditional African garb and doing a black power fist in his Facebook profile picture.
The news is going to be all over this.

I'd imagine "DID SOMEBODY CHECK OUR TWITTER FEED?!" Is the last thing they're thinking about. 5 co-workers are dead and they're still working on what they know.
Not an excuse, but let's not presume it's intentional or trying to stir anything. It's a very bad oversight, but they're clearly not the best at social media.

Some inhuman jackass on my fb just posted a pic of the execution of the cop with the caption #payback..
I reported and blocked him immediately, unreal.....
