One day early, but Iwata will be remembered for all he's done for this industry I am certain, remembered as one of the greats who helped engineer it, and was a charming character who earned his popular reputation to the various contributions he made, the kindness and determination he presented, and the visionary that he was. He was talented in many fields, and more than that, he was a passionate, caring, and decent human being.
I almost forgot this topic was going to come up. His death is on my birthday, but I don't mind being reminded of him right before it. He deserves the commendation, in my opinion. And I do really believe he'll be remembered for all he did. It's good for the now to remember his decency as a human being, and I'm happy it's been well-documented. I do think him as a figure and his early works/classics will be remembered, as well as contributions to this industry. I truly do.
Gave all of us 11th July bday folks a gut punch =(
If anyone wants a good video to watch on the life of Iwata I recommend watching the Gaming Historian video of him:

Yuup, as a person with a birthday on July 11th as well, it was quite the gut punch last year, and somehow despite posting in the thread about Iwata that popped up a few months ago, I had almost forgotten his death date coincided on this day until this topic popped up, but it doesn't hurt to remember. And if anyone hasn't, I do recommend the video as well. Watched it when the GAF topic on it was posted previously, incredibly well made and informative retrospective of his life.
