Assault Suit Leynos |OT| Target Earth Rebirth

I'm holding out for the physical release, but I am looking forward to streams. Maybe I can finally figure out what the hell some of the menus say.

For those of you picking it up today: Do you mind posting some screenshots of the special options as you unlock them?

Double tap in either direction to dash. Hold O to boost and don't let go. Make that fat ass Leynos move! The shield will block almost every attack in the game. Get into the habit of slapping R1 when you see something coming your way. Some enemies have obvious start up attack animations. The ones who don't usually have firing patterns that you can read. Raise the shield, wait, punish.

Do we have any idea about the availability of the US physical release? I don't have a PS4 yet, but don't want to wait to pick up a copy if it is going to be near impossible to buy at a reasonable price if it is going to be a limited print run.

I think that the original plan was to release the physical and digital versions simultaneously. I remember Rising Star mentioned an issue that led to the disc version being pushed back to a September release.

As far as availability is concerned, Rising Star has also stated that they are publishing the physical version themselves. This is not a Limited Run Games deal. I'm going to make an assumption here, but at worst, I would expect stock to be limited to pre-orders. You may not be able to walk into Best Buy or GameStop and pick up a copy off the rack, but a pre-order will probably guarantee you a copy.
 
Just watched the trailer and this looks rad. Any caveats about the gameplay, or does it more or less play just like any other side-scrolling shooter?

It's a "mech platformer". So it's a 2D sidescrolling action game where you play as a mech (with controls that sell the feeling of controlling a bulky, heavy machine), basically. Other games in the same vein would be:

Assault Suits Leynos / Target Earth (Genesis, the game this is a remake of)
Assault Suits Valken / Cybenator (SNES)
Gigantic Army (PC)
Armored Hunter Gunhound EX (PSP and PC, from the developers of this game)

That is my assumption as well. I guess that I will pre-order it once it becomes available to do so.

There are three demos: the original demo, a second demo with several mechanical changes based on fan feedback, and a third demo that reflects the final game. Get the third one, and if you're curious to witness the resolution drop, get the second one.

Normally I'd have waited for the PC release, but I don't play my PS4 all that much so I got it after all. Thanks to tizoc for pasting the PSN store link; the Rising Games Twitter account didn't respond until way later on, I think early this morning in fact.

Yeah, but the PC version not launching till September? That's kinda rough.

Yep, Assault Suit Leynos was released as Target Earth in the US. I played a bunch of Assault Suits Valken aka Cybernator on the SNES. It took me a while to get into it, but I ended up loving that game. So glad Leynos has come to US and EU now.
 
Well, I didn't intended to buy the digital release, but someone gave me a surprise $20 PSN card. The only thing holding me back is knowing I'm going to end up triple dipping when the physical version hits in September.
 
I've heard it's one of the best games on the Mega Drive. I've played the Saturn sequel and thought it was pretty decent so will probably pick up the PS4 remake of the original at some point.
 
Just picked this up, and it's a lot of fun. Made it to mission three so far. Is there a recommended loadout for mission 3? I'm still sticking with the defaults and having trouble taking out that ship at the end.

LOL! Sweet summer child. The pilot in the original game would yell "I got it!" as his battle cry after he beat a boss. It was quite silly.

GameStop pre-order page is up.

I'm going to stop by and order it in-store after work.

Anyone interested in a mint JP copy? I was considering keeping it around for sentimental reasons, but I doubt I will play it after I get the US release.
