Rime still in development, team expanded by 40%, news at gamescom 2016 next month

After everything that came out a few months ago, any expectations I had based on previous footage are now gone.

I'm kinda interested to see what they can do, but I'm assuming everything previously seen doesn't exist.

Zero faith in this after it was revealed the trailer was smoke and mirrors. Was a damn shame as well because that trailer was what sold me on the game.

I hope this game gets finished, and plays wells.

It's strange to see Sony drop something like this, but maybe Shu knows something we don't?
Or maybe they're dropping the ball again, like they did with Demon's Souls and From Software.

I'm excited for it, regardless.

Sony dropped the ball on Demon's Souls in the west. They still funded and co-developed the game, along with publishing it in Japan. This situation is more comparable to what happened with Remember Me, which was quietly dropped by Sony before it was formally announced and got picked up by Capcom.

More like L.A. Noire that was also dropped by Sony because how a mess the whole development of that one was but at least they got Rockstar that managed to somehow fix and and salvage that thing.

haha here we go again

I hope whoever is funding them now has them on a tight fucking leash. Do they really think anyone is going to care about them playing will they/won't they about whether the game is going to be at Gamescom when it was already shown that their previous reveal was a sham?

Didn't one leaker say they had tried switching it to a tower defense game at some point?

You know, I did have a feeling that there was a more analogous example, but I don't think I've thought about LA Noire since it came out.

At this point, it would be better to present it as a whole new game and avoid all the bad press attached to rime. It was non existant anyway.

So the main problem was that they didn't have enough staff? Kinda hard to believe tbh.

I'm glad that it's still in development though.

99% sure I read that it started out as a Tower Defense or MOBA (Some sort of tactical game). I was surprised going by the reveal footage but after that turned out to be fake, I'd believe anything now.

Goddamn, somebody should alert the witness and every other game with long and troublesome development that they are all train wrecks

Yep because the witness and all other games with troubled development had the same circonstances as Rime.

They apparently never shown the real game as of now, it as nothing to do with it having a long and troublesome development more to do with the fact that after 3 years we still haven't saw the game.

Blow had an excellent track record though. Braid was a critically acclaimed game that also sold well.

Their first game, Deadlight, was shit. Bad reviews, short game and it didn't sell well at all. I have no idea why anyone was hyped for this game after knowing who was behind it.

Official word (or Tequila's version) is that Tequila just wanted to achieve their vision without Sony. Other sources say that the development was a complete mess, they submited only cinematics and failed to show Sony a real build of the game. A fellow poster shared what the knew about the development and the status of the game:

Thanks for that. Sounds like the game is vaporware and development is only continued thanks to government money, which will eventually run out. Since supposedly the original developers are gone and the whole undertaking seems directionless, I am not holding my breath that anything resembling the trailer will ever be released (if anything at all).

Too bad, I was looking forward to it.

Yeah, this game is never coming out.

Shame, because I was so hyped for this game at one point. I was hanging out for it at every Sony conference and let down every time by its absence. But at this point it's clear that the game was never anything more than a scam.

Fuck. I was so excited for this game, and to see the thread, then I find out about Sony dropping it and all that shit. Damn. I really hope it can be what they were marketing it as.

I have almost no hope it will actually get released, let alone live up to the initial trailers, but gods damn would I love to be proven wrong.

This was easily one of the games I was most excited about at the start of this gen, and it's sad that there's very few things on the market that look like it.

Was blown away when I saw that trailer, had everything I look for in a game. Was bitterly disappointed when I found out what was (apparently) going on.

Since I now have zero expectations, at best this game will be a pleasant surprise if/when it eventually comes out.
