Not criticizing you, just curious:
Why save that many? Not interested in buying anything that's out there already?
Since you can get duplicates, there's 90+ new items and you apparently are only certain to get one Summer Games item per loot box (according to this), I think there's a pretty good possibility that even if you play 12 hours a day for the 21 days these will be available, you still won't get every item...
It's a terrible system.
yeah, Summer skins aside, I want to know what my credits are good for now. Only the base skins? If it's just going to the events and skins that you can't buy, what's the point of the currency. That's not how it works Blizzard.

Honestly, the only part of this that offends me is that these new boxes also contain old items. Wtf Blizzard.

Your odds never increase. This is actually 100% the kind of stuff we're talking about here. No matter how much you spend your odds will never improve in this system but that wasn't true in the old system.
I get it, I know it sounds like too much but this really is the same kind of stuff that does turn people into gambling addicts. I know it's 'just a game' so it doesn't seem serious but that's exactly why I think these sort of systems shouldn't be anywhere near video games in general.
That this is a title people already paid full price for only makes it even worse. I'm sorry I've replied to you so many times, and your posts are respectful so I thank you for that but I can personally see how this could be a big issue for people and there's no reason it had to be added in this way.
Blizzard have many other options to add content and micro-transactions that don't attract the kind of problems this genuinely will. Anyway I do thank you for the discussion. I just feel it's important to communicate the issues that I can see will arise from this system.
It's a trifecta of dogshit.
- New Lootcrate that features ~75% old items.
- New Summer Cosmetics cannot be purchased with in-game currency.
- New Summer Cosmetics can be dupes that give you in-game currency.
lol
Second bullet point?![]()
You forgot the in-game currency being useless for the acquisition of new summer cosmetics... but yeah. It all adds up.
Bolded, I'm amazed if that even gives you more than 3 skins. If even that.

Go shove your special coins up your ass blizzard, you already got zillions off the game
No one is asking for free skins. They are asking to be able to use the currency Blizzard provided for us in the game. This is not rocket science here.
Just because you don't care doesn't make it right. I frankly only care for the Tracer and Zarya skins yet I won't defend this decision.
And no, I'm not asserting that. The way things are even if you put in 200 hours there isn't a guarantee that you will get all of the Summer Games content. That is not "rarity", that's exclusivity to people who can fork up money to the RNG gods. Overwatch itself has the gold weapons which are a perfect example of a rare item in a game because if you put in the time and skill you're guaranteed to get them.
No, companies must be defended! The logic will be what it needs to be.

*Edit 2* definitely looks like a new map + game mode:

what smart guys at blizzard, get that money $$$$$$$$$$$$
haha can't even use your in game money and only 1 costume per crate 0_o jeez
glad I don't care that much about skins or I'd be broke
Err, this is cosmetic stuff. Some of you sound over the top, entitled and ridiculous.
If you really want that new Tracer skin and play normally, you'll definitely end up getting it.
To get ALL the items though - you're just being fucking greedy.
--Duplicates = coins = stuff you want
How I got all my preferred legendaries.
You can't spend coins on the summer costumes.
You cannot buy these with coins.
Literally in the thread title.

It is not that I don't care. I just don't see the evil in this system as long as they are only doing this with cosmetic items. In my opinion, once you get everything that you want the game becomes less fun because you don't have anything to work towards.
Also, that IS still rarity. If not a huge amount of people are able to obtain something it is rare. The gold weapons are cool, but honestly more frustrating than anything else for me because even if you are skilled you won't get any points towards buying one if placed on a bad team (which happens often). So it is still based partially on chance, but even if you are really good you have to play a ton to get one. At least there is a chance to get something cool somewhat often with the random loot boxes.
Perhaps it would be better if they left the new Olympic game items in permanently but they only could be unlocked through gold at a higher than normal amount after the end of an event. This way you wouldn't eventually have holiday skins that are still being randomly unlocked when it is not a holiday or some such.
Gamers must get angry at all things. Every little thing is the end of the world. Can't get some pixels? Better act like this has ruined your day.No, companies must be defended! The logic will be what it needs to be.

That's how i felt at the beginning, but this is entirely different if you can't actually work towards getting the olympic skins and your gold accumulation based off duplicates and gold drops is worthless for new content.

when being condescending goes wrong
"Increasing your odds" would be speeding up the loot crate unlocking process, not making the chance of rares dropping increasing.
You don't really "turn" into a gambling addict. You're either one, or you're not. Someone who spends a lot on an online game for a chance at getting something isn't always addicted to doing it. They could be bad with their finances (poor priorities), have a lot of extra money, or someone else could be buying it for them. All the people in those situations will be unlocking crates faster than someone not spending money and they're not suffering from a dehilibating consition.
You're right that it's a full price game. But this is also a game with constant upkeep. The development expenses didn't end with v1.0 of the game being released.
Anyway, I feel games like this probably need a random gradual unlock system to keep aspects of the game interesting when starting.
I just play and enjoy the game, I don't care about skins one bit.
Is this shit out now?
I don't like this....but I sort of need that Tracer skin.

People don't want all 90, they want specific things within said 90, but being able to get those is like a 1/1000 chance and you only have a limited time to do it.My 2 points that it's just cosmetics and and that people wanting all 90 are greedy, still stand.
Looking at the mechanics again, yeah, you're never getting that Tracer, but it's just a cosmetic.
I call bullshit.
In order to save up to "immediately buy everything they want", they have to have spent multiple hundreds of hours playing the game. If they're that committed, I say let them have it. They represent the top 5% of time-spenders in the game. If anything, their presence encourages others to continue to play and possibly spend a little more to expedite their skin unlock progress.
You speak as though everyone has 5,000 credits at the ready, waiting to buy something. 99% of players do not. Have some perspective.
