But...his whole chest melted off and then a bomb blew up right into his open chest.

How is a chest falling off not something that weakens someone?

But the plan was just to get him in place of the bomb I thought? Honestly it doesn't really matter if he was weakened or not because the idea of using bombs to stop the enchantress and her brother is absurd any way you slice it.

[*]Rick Flagg aka Exposition Man. When he wasn't explaining shit he was the movie equivalent of this

My mind kept going to Ico. At a point I expected Deadshot to drag him by the hand.

I'd really like to know what good dialog is. Can someone give me examples of what should come out of the mouths of the characters in the movie?

Don't even bother trying to ask here. It's either bad dialogue, cringe worthy, lazy writing or just plain terrible. All armchair analysts and experts here.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the dialogue.

  • Will was good in this.
  • Margot was fine for the most part but her comedic timing is bad and the jokes written for her were also bad.
"That's a killer app" was a terrible joke delivered terribly. The same goes for all of her jokes.
  • Viola was great
  • I liked Leto's Joker. He just needed some better content to work with. He has a bunch of 30 second to a minute long scenes that don't go anywhere. I want to see him in the solo Batman film.

  • Diablo wasn't bad. His Gods of Egypt form was weird but other than that I didn't have a problem with him.
  • Killer Croc doesn't do or say much for most of the movie until the bar scene rolls around and he turns into a bad gangsta stereotype. BET? Really breh?
  • Jai Courtney was bleh as fuck.
  • Katana practically doesn't exist for 99% of the run time.
  • Slipknot doesn't deserve mentioning.
  • Enchantress had a bunch of set up only for her to stand in front of her "machine" dancing to Drake's Controlla for most of the movie.
  • Incubus became Destroyer from Thor after his introduction which was cool.

With all that said I didn't hate it. Completely understandable to see the movie was pure garbage if those things really bothered you though.

Damn. This is pretty spot on. Agree with all of this, but was still entertained.

They did the exact same with Killer Croc. He's the muscle, the squad member who is meant to tip the scales.

Film students will be analyzing this movie for years to come.

Ropeguy is the first to die because the noose represents death and it is made of rope. Omg...

Gotta agree on alot of these points.

Suicide squad stories were always better as behind the scenes covert ops missions, why they went for supernatural/magic while also confirming the exsistance/inclusion of the Flash ect. made me question it. Would have made sense if Flash/other heroes were in the city fighting and saving people, while the squad was doing there thing behind the scenes. Their whole mission was pretty damn out in the open. Few hundred soldiers knew they went in, saw them prep and what not, nothing seemed covert about this mission. Killing the rope guy was obvious for anyone who has read the comcics or seen the animated versions. They always kill off the most obscure member right away.

Like everyone said, it was not a terrible movie but certainally had problems. Boomerang was weird and over the top, more than he is in the comics and animations. Harley had a lot of boring jokes, but at the same time was a good version of her I guess. Wish they would have toned her and Jokers relationship down. Less psycotic, more one sided normal love for a crazy person like in the source materials. Deadshot was good, like the rest of the movie was a bit hamfisted. Croc was wasted, so was Katana. Also Croc`s personality was weird.

Not bad, but definitely in line with the rest of the DC movies the last 3 years, they seriously gotta pump the brakes with these movies and characters.

I didn't think it was all that bad immediately after leaving the theater, but a day later all I can think of is how bad it really was. This should have been a Joker/ Harley movie with Batsy Batsy Batsy but instead we get a hot mess of characters that have nothing to do. Why does Boomerrang have a pink unicorn fetish? Why does Katana protect Flag? So many questions.

Leto's Joker left me wanting more. Really liked what was in the movie and hope to see the deleted scenes that were cut.

The squad is more interesting individually but horrible once they team up expect Harley and Deadshot; they played off each other well enough but omg her New Jersey accent that became prominent at the end was grating as hell.

How this stacks against BvS I don't quite know. But I hope Wonder Woman is good but I won't hold my breath.

Agree with everything but bolded

Harley can fight, she got the proverbial "Black Belt in Kar-azy". Much like Joker, she has a careless confidence in combat and higher than normal pain threshold and strength(for her size). She can kill anyone in a brawl.

And plus come on man, comicbooks.

http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2016/08/07/sam-strange-remembers-suicide-squad

The world of Suicide Squad is one that needs to be protected from all the crazy meta humans that have not come out of the woodwork since Superman arrived. For a while, it was no big deal because Superman was around to not ever fight them. But now Superman’s dead, and except for Batman, the Flash, and Wonder Woman, there’s no one out there to stand in their way. This is especially urgent given that they are all incarcerated and off the streets.

To keep control this crew, Waller needs a non-meta human army guy. To keep control of him, she needs him to fall in love with an archeologist, have that archaeologist get possessed by a 6000-year-old witch, take that witch’s heart, and stab it with a coffee stirrer any time she gets out of line, a job so simple she leaves it to interns, like four of which are named Robin just in case this movie does well.

Perfection.

That's fucking funny

You should read the sites actual review of the film. It's surprisingly accurate. I like this analogy;

If Guardians of the Galaxy was Coca-Cola, Suicide Squad is Faygo. But here’s the thing about Faygo: it’s okay. I mean, I wouldn’t go to the store and buy it, but if I were served it I probably wouldn’t spit it out. It’s off-brand, it’s beloved by a crowd of real goons, it’s a knock-off, but it serves its purpose. Suicide Squad, like Faygo, is almost preternatural in how it straddles the line between good and bad.

What the fuck was up with Enchantresses dancing CGI body? It was fucking amazing how badly her face meshed with her body. Shit was worse than Game of Thrones paste-on face from last season.

Call me crazy but why was Enchantress, literally the most dangerous baddy the one that was allowed to roam free and the only contingency was that she was banging some dude so maybe she was under control and the heart she sort of didn't need to cast a big magical tornado

Question about the time line.

So this is set after Superman dies right? So how was the Flash around to take down Boomerang? Wayne hasn't recruited him yet?

And where is Batman around this time? We seen him bring some of them in, but where is he now?

Flash doesn't become Flash because of Batman. He's doing his own thing already.

Batman is in Gotham City. Most of this movie takes place in Midway City.

I mean this isn't really a suicide squad thing as all shared universes struggle with this question to one extent or another. If the Flash is active and the situation in Suicide Squad had been going on for two days surely he might pop his head in.

And you like the movie (right?)! If it were answered, it would've been when Deadshot brought those files to Flag/near the bar scene.

That's when it was. I think it was when Flag was talking to Deadshot, he asks if he got to the part where they were sleeping together and Deadshot responds pointing out "so that's why there were always after you". It doesn't give a clear reason why she was always after him, but my thinking was so she could get rid of him to prevent June from taking control ever again.

  • The Joker/Harley Quinn flashback stuff was way more interesting than anything else that happened in the film.
  • After all the hype Jared Leto's performance was really disappointing. Joker was barely more than a regular generic gangster with a 'unique' look.
  • Katana should not of even been in this film. Out of place with no explanation of how she is, bar a sentence of explanation of what she's about.
  • Killer Croc was beyond lame. Awful look and his comic relief lines where abysmal.
  • The film had a ridiculous over reliance on pop music. Everyone 1 or 2 minutes they play a new song that supposed to make you feel something but ends up being intrusive.

I mean there could have been another crisis happening that we don't know about. Too many things happening and not enough people to cover it.

Too many scenes looked like a movie trailer. Some famous song playing and people talking like they were setting a movie up on a trailer.

Even the "I'm gonna hurt you real bad" scene was not much different than what we already saw on the first trailer/teaser.

The feeling of an actual world was also almost completely missing. It mostly felt like we were watching these characters in a video game setting. The places are there to only have some surroundings for these character to pose and say their lines, and not being a representation of any lived world.

Also, it bugged me how damn self-aware they all seemed to be of their "craziness." They were so self-awarely "gangsta" and "crazy" that it felt like they were aping some movie and music video characters.
However, there were a couple of scenes where it seemed like they are going to address the facades, but it never went anywhere. It feels like the whole thing was supposed to be much deeper, but at some point the producers told them to cut an hour away, so they ended up making a feature film length trailer thinking it's enough for the viewers to get only a glimpse of what the characters really were meant to be.

There were a couple of dramatic scenes that had potential, but all the scenes with Deadshot and his daughter were corny as hell.

Sure, but like that's a hurdle you just have to be willing to get over with stuff like this. The MCU gets that alot, but I also think there's a decent enough justification to handwave that stuff away.

MCU has it worse - Stark presumed dead Avengers don't care, Thor in London Avengers don't care, Cap in run from Shield Avengers don't care.

DC will run into that issue too, granted.

Scott Eastwood's character's role should have honestly been given to Katana. Her being second in command would have made her inclusion in the team seem less random.

With Iron Man, what all can they do? Thor ain't around, SHIELD is probably trying to find him, Banner can maybe call Pepper on the phone but that's about it.

Thor 2's climax happens in about 15 minutes and I don't know that Thor has figured phones out just yet, let alone knows Tony Stark's or Nick Fury's cell number.

Cap or Widow literally can't make a single call without giving themselves away, or putting their team at risk. Hydra would of course be monitoring all likely communications to Tony etc.

And hell, it doesn't even seem like they were all hanging out until just before Age of Ultron.
