No Man's Sky |OT| Hello Worlds.

There's beacons around that you can summon your ship with. You need a chip that's easy to craft.
Okay, I actually activated one of these beacons with a bypsss chip at the first outpost I landed at on this planet. I was wondering what it was for. But then I flew miles away before landing again and losing my ship. It's long way back to the beacon. How do I even find my way back to that outpost? Is there a map, or a waypoint I can set? I only see nearby outposts on my HUD.

Welp. I encountered my first big bug. My starship floated away. I landed it in a pad at a trading outpost and went off exploring
When I get back, I found it a hundred feet in the air floating slowly into the sky. Now marooned. What can I do? Maybe but a ship from a passing trader??

Low gravity planets confirmed. I hope you got video of that. That's definitely the craziest bug I've heard of in this game.

For those of you who were getting stuck on the hyperdrive thing if you took the pre-order ship:

Right before I quit out last night for the first time, I had bought a new ship from some guy in a space station. That was when the tutorial quest flipped back to the hyperdrive step since I had bailed on my pre-order ship which already had one installed. Upon logging into the game today, I got back into my new ship on the space station and used the L3 star system scanner, and it popped up a beacon on a planet I had not yet visited. Going there pointed me to an outpost on that planet which gave me the hyperdrive recipe. Leaving that planet and using the L3 star scanner again pointed me back to the second planet I had visited, back to an outpost I had already discovered, and the Gek there gave me the Antimatter recipe. So if you are stuck on this part of the tutorial due to the pre-order ship, try leaving the current planet you are on and going into space, and using the star system scanner to see if it finds any signals.

It sounds like buying the new ship and using it is what solved the problem. Still debating whether or not to delete my save since I only played for 26 minutes this morning.

does anyone knows if this game will suport the dualshock 4 on PC(like Transistor)?
if not is there someone on the dev team we can ask on twitter or something like it?

What problem? I'm about to switch to my DLC ship while doing this hyperdrive quest which this ship has.

Should I not do that???

Wait. Should I not switch ships then? I was just about to switch to my DLC ship

What happened to me was that I claimed the pre-order ship pretty much right away, because it popped up with a thing telling me to do that literally right after the game started.

It already has a fueled hyperdrive installed though, so the game skipped that part of the tutorial where it sends you to objectives to get the hyperdrive and antimatter crafting recipes. When I saw a really cool ship in a star station and bartered it from the pilot who docked there, that ship didn't have a hyperdrive installed, so that tutorial mission flipped back on to create a hyperdrive but I didn't know how to proceed, because I presume it never sent me the incoming signal to where that hyperdrive recipe is. But by using the L3 star scanner out in space I was able to get the signal to where it was, which was on a planet I had not visited yet in the star system.

You could just grab the pre-order ship now and try doing it the way I did, but if you want to play it safe you could just wait and not redeem it and switch ships until you do the initial tutorial quests up through creating and fueling your first hyperdrive.

1. Scan with L3.
2. Just keep trucking until you come across one.
3. Use the melee->jetpack trick to travel on foot faster. Just run, melee then immediately hit jetpack and hold. Repeat to haul ass.

Does the preorder bonus come in the box if you order from Amazon? I am getting my copy Thursday but haven't received an email yet from Amazon. Also, is there something wrong with the preorder ship that you get?

I recommend waiting and using the DLC later in the game.

The DLC ship seems to mess with the early progress of the game. Some tutorial prompts you usually would get regarding antimatter blueprints and warp cores don't appear.

I haven't experienced it yet myself but there is a big thread on Reddit about it.

I'm actually surprised at how many of ya'll are even posting in here. When I get home and load that shit up on steam next week imma be ghost.

Seems like everyone is really digging it so far though, which is awesome.

Finally off work. Getting my copy, then have to make some phone calls, and then can start playing. It has been a long 3 years.

I'm about 6 hours in.

So far I've upgraded to a new ship twice, added three new inventory slots to my suit, upgraded my multi-tool four times - one of which I bought from a totally-not-shady alien dude selling totally-not-shady tech out of dufflebag at the trading post, learned over 50 words in two different alien languages, discovered all but one of the planet's animals plus another 20-something plants, broke into multiple 'facilities' and stole their tech - which I now have like 25 new technologies unlocked...

... and I haven't left my freakin' starting planet. This god damn game is going to ruin my life.

And to talk about how wildly different experiences can be - I started on a giant, tropical planet full of plants, animals and minerals. My wife, on the other hand, started on a small, desolate wasteland with super-high radiation, almost no plants, no animals, minimal resources and the most aggressive and angry Sentinels I've seen yet. I've been frolicking through alien plains while she's in a constant fight to simply survive.

It's hilarious.

This right here is what the game is about, not about what you do in it.

My first planet was absolute garbage. Tons of Sentboyz hovering around, stopping me from doing anything (even by cave entrances), the game doesn't explain shit, and the materials were too dispersed. I ended up having to do another save after an hour of absolute bullshittery. As amazing as this game is, some of the design flaws are really dumb and head-scratchingly bad.

Goddamn that planet you start on was so dull.

Since then it's been way better though.

ahahha
my spawn planet was insane liertally the first 10 seconds i see a dinosaws ass

Cpb_tsDWYAAZ2PB

it was a hot ass planet with avatar floating islands everywhere

i stayed there for over 5 hours alone lol

There really wasn't a problem until I bought the new ship. The tutorial quest had gone away and as far as I knew was completed until I switched ships. I could have made the system jump using the pre-order ship, I just happened to buy the new ship in the first system before making the first jump.

I'm at work. :(
Then I have to workout (I really have to), then a match of soccer, then shower, dinner, and just maybe 3hs of gaming before going to bed to sleep 4hs. :'(

"Broke" into facilities? How? And I assume they are structures you can't get into otherwise? Haven't found any locked structures yet.

Some places will have locked doors (mostly Steel reinforced so far) that you can break open by shooting at. Fair warning, it will spawn Sentinels to come attack you, but if you have a weapon capable of breaking open the doors, you probably have one capable to fighting off the Sentinels too. Maybe not, depending on your world, my Sentinels are chumps - my wife's on the other hand... they don't fuck around.

So far, most of the facilities I've broken into have 1 piece of tech for free and another you get by solving some puzzle inside. Although sometimes it's not tech, its a waypoint to more cool shit.

I also just ran into an alien dude trying to sell his 26 slot ship for 2.7m credits. I just about lost my shit seeing 26 slots but I only have about 1m cred at the moment, way out of my current price range.

At work. Waiting to get back home. Not too long now.

Sounds like that preorder ship kinda ruins some of the fun. To me creating your first hyperdrive and then blasting out of the planet sounds like a blast. Kinda of like Star Trek First Contact (Sweet Jesus!). So, I'm not touching that ship on my PC game until at least after I've built my first hyperdrive.

Another reason to hate pre-order bonuses.

There is people who will hate that and people who will love that. That sounds awesome getting lost but still have a way to get out if ya do

You can only blast your way out if you have the proper upgrades. You get them fairly soon if you explore, but I can imagine starting out being a huge pain.

Just hyperdrove my ass to another system. First one was pretty good. Five planets and a moon. Took me a while to get into the swing of it, but I'm all in now. Racking in the dough trading in all that material/loot.

I've updated this post to make it a bit clearer.

ANTI-MATTER & ANTI-MATTER RECIPE WITHOUT THE DLC VECTOR SHIP
Almost immediately after leaving your home planet you’ll be given the quest to build and fuel a hyper drive. Building the drive is fairly straight-forward, but the real confusion seems to be coming from fueling the damned thing. In order to fuel your hyper drive, you’ll need to craft a warp cell. In order to craft a warp cell, you’ll need a couple of ingredients, most of which are readily available. Where you’re likely getting stuck is looking for anti-matter. The game doesn’t make it explicitly clear that won’t be able to craft the element just yet, you’ll get your first taste thanks to a generous alien on a nearby planet outpost.

After building your hyper drive, scan the planets in your system until you find, what I believe is a distress beacon. This will lead you to an on-planet outpost where you’ll meet the alien with the anti-matter. There’s nothing special you have to do, just talk to it. Assuming you’ve gathered the rest of the ingredients, you’re ready to fuel your drive and leave the system.

Upon reaching the new system you’ll discover another beacon. In my case, it was an abandoned facility that I had to break into, but it may differ from person to person. Either way, you’ll have a beacon that you’ll need to travel to, and this is how you’ll get the anti-matter recipe, which is necessary to continue the game.

ANTI-MATTER & ANTI-MATTER RECIPE WITH DLC VECTOR SHIP

One of the perks of redeeming and using the Vector ship is that you’ll be able to skip most of the above. The ship is already equipped with a fueled hyper drive, allowing you to leave the system shortly after your initial repairs.

Once you leave the first system, the steps remain the same. You’ll scan for a beacon and find the required recipe. There’s no way to skip over it, because it’s required to continue the game. I switched to the Vector shortly after arriving at the nearest space station in the new system. From there I went on to acquire the recipe needed to continue my journey.

Some of the best advice I can give to anyone playing this game is not to worry about trying to find the right way to do things, as the game will lead you towards the center of the universe. Scan when you're near a planet in space, and continue to scan while you're walking about the planet.

Find your own path. Don't be afraid to change up your waypoint, or explore the universe because you might miss something. You won't. If you're in the star map and see an interesting looking sun, start heading there and see what's up. The game has a narrative and you'll get all of that as you continue towards the center.

I think I gotta start this over too. The DLC ship fucked me over with the recipe for the warp cells/anti-matter.

What the are the prerequisites that govern planet completion percentage? I was at 75% on one and then kept uploading loads new discoveries but it never went up any further

There's a lot of confusion with the anti-matter stuff, but basically if you don't have the DLC ship you'll be given the element by some alien in your system. If you have the DLC ship, you're already fueled, so the game skips that part and immediately leads you to the next step, which is warping out of the system and on to the next.

Once arriving and scanning the next system, you'll find a beacon that leads you towards the anti-matter recipe, which is required to continue your adventure.

There's no way to continue with the game without the anti-matter recipe, therefore it's impossible to miss it. The DLC ship doesn't glitch anything, it just assumes the player is going to continue with the game and eventually run into the next part of the quest.

I don't know why it never occurred to me to head towards a sun. I know what I'm doing tonight.

My point was that it shouldn't be something HG should have to worry about, it should be done at system level, like the XBO.

oh okay, maybe over looked that when I read your and the other guy's comment.

I wasnt trying to come off as aggressive though, just excitedly supporting the idea of stats

Just started playing it. Who in the hell thought putting sprint on R3 was smart and why in the hell can I not change it? Other than that love the game.

Is the online server still offline ? Yesterday night or this morning I couldnt connect.

you can change it in the PS4 system options

Is there any way to set a waypoint? I ran out of inventory and had to go sell some but now I dont know how to get back where I was, even though the game says its a location i discovered (and uploaded)
