I havent touched this game since years back when it turned my PS4 Pro into a 747 jet. What is the scope of this game these days......is it still a sim like game, or is it an actual adventure game where you go planet to planet with goals, etc.....combat....??

Something in-between? It's still a survival game at its core, albeit a pretty gentle one, but there is a ton more to do and it takes many hours to really even get into all the different types of activities.
There are some storylines to work through as well, with goals and missions and all that, but it's still pretty uncinematic. No cutscenes and not much in the way of actual dialog, but things to discover and missions to work through nonetheless.

It's a survival crafting game with a primary focus on space exploration. Combat is very light and non-existent, and area I would like to see improved.

This looks cool. I can't imagine picking this back up "full time", but I will definitely jump back in to check these improvements out.

I always want to jump back in, but then I remember that there's just still nothing to do or accomplish in this game. I did the "story" and then there's just nothing else.

I have around 170hrs (since 2017) invested in this game, and never made a push for the galactic center. How long did it take you to accomplish this, when you started in earnest?

I'd like them to create more coherence between the planet and the creatures than just "adding" new ones. Because it's always the same thing: they add a visual layer on top, but never anything about coherence. Always mindless monsters running around in circles in environments that are just ubiquitous.

While developing their new game they are probably thinking "we could port this to NMS".

The Switch is up to date until this update. They usually get the updates later. Their optimization for the Switch has been fantastic.Something tells me this doesn't apply to the Switch version

The 5.0 Update is now live on Nintendo Switch. I'll check it out later today/this week. Hopefully they were able to actually pull it off on Switch as well.
