My starter planet was a hostile environment where the temp would drop to -75 C at night. Found some interesting animals and some ruin-type areas that I learned some Korvax from.

I know I need to head into space, but I love my starter planet so much.

Just spent 4 hours straight playing the game and streamed it. Planets have still been very varied. I might start heading to the centre for a while though next playthrough. Spent a lot of time messing about in the local cluster. and there are some stars I can't access without a special warp drive or something. Need to get hunting for that blueprint!

If you got OCD about this game you will be bored before leaving the first system. I think that's why they added loose objectives near the end of the dev cycle, because pressing on will help to keep the game fresher, faffing around on one planet for 20 hours will ruin it fast.

I know what you mean.

The common theme I'm reading from those that are negative tend to be that they're getting bored of doing the same thing over and over again with no real variation aside from a different "skin".

But I have a feeling things will change the closer you get to the centre.

There's lots of upgrades whether it be the ship, or multi-tool so surely any hostile life will get tougher, and perhaps there'll be some surprises too.

To be fair it's still pretty early days, most people have only a handful of hours under their belt, and with the sheer scope and ambition they've gone for I can't believe that what you do in the first few hours is all there is to it.

But who knows....

Can I just sell the gek stuff? Got an artifact or something, but my inventory is so small.

Yeah! That's how I made a lot of my money. They're meant for trading and selling. I mean, I suppose you can keep some if you're especially attached to one in particular. I was given an artifact last night that sold for 37K. I was pretty stoked.

So you can't actually meet other players after all? *sigh*.

Man, some of the guys in the NMS fanbase (i'm talking about this video guy) are just ridiculous with the fake drama.

Look, it's launch day, Hello's servers are buckling under the weight. People are having trouble even making a connection, and yet people are freaking out about meeting someone else, when the reality is probably that the servers couldn't keep track of two people's locations in real time? Y'all need to just relax and let things settle down before accusing Sean of lying.

I found a rare artifact that was worth over 250k, i wonder what the highest will be. I saw a trader selling on for over 2mill.

Bookmark this page, dude. I think you're gonna be a little disappointed.

My starter planet was cool. The only thing that attacked me was a plant that looked like a spiky penis. Spent way more time than I planned to on that planet before blasting off. Found a space station where I'm pretty sure the alien wanted to eat me but didn't. Then my next planet I landed, had some cow like things be nice to me then out of no where this scorpion/octopus/hermit crab thing and I nearly shit myself. I'd recommend playing in diapers. The game is super chill you'll just be cruising along looking at the sights taking it all in and BAM some little bastard will try and eat you. Other than I enjoyed it even though I'm not exactly sure wtf I'm trying to do :)

lol okay. I don't care at all about multiplayer in this game, I'm just saying, people are rushing to conclusions and some are outright calling Sean a liar. It's not a good look.

I plan on bringing artifacts and resources from the inner part of the galaxy, once I reach it, to the outer rim just to see if it sells for more. I don't suspect I'll be doing this anytime soon, but it's on the list of things to do as I plan to specialize in trading and transporting.

Fully scanning every animal on a planet is by far the fastest way to make money fast, at least so far as I've found.

Just upload the 100% bar and you can get hundreds of thousands of units.

Plus it's really fun discovering all the different beasties.

Yeah a lot of players are ruining it for themselves by being precious with the first few planets. Its not really gonna hold up long if you play it like Skyrim or something, as the smoke and mirrors clear fast. I would be getting majorly fatigued by now if i hung around for 10 hours on the starter planet, if you keep it moving the game opens up more and more for you. A lot of the players who are staying stuck in one place will probably never get past the first few galaxies and end up hating the game i reckon. For a game with a quintillion planets in it, to try and scour each one is mentalist.

So. Is this actually the first game that lives up to the hype? I played all night last night, and it just keeps getting better and better. I was hoping it would be good, but tempered my expectations. It seems they hit it out of the park however, at a rather remarkable magnitude.

Not a good look for Sean in that video, either.

Yeah and he hasn't been able to talk about it yet. It's 11:45pm in the UK right now and he is at the office trying to get the servers sorted. Give the guy a freaking break. He will address the issue at some point regarding the multiplayer aspect I'm sure.

Finally got the damn atlas pass. I have been to so many systems at this point. I feel like I'm not moving as slow as some. Maybe I need to slow down.

The galaxy map is very confusing.

I agree. If it was me I'd gather what I needed to and get going to another planet.

But that's the beauty of it, people can do what they want.

I'm so close to buying it.....

edit: bought. If I hate it it won't be the first digital game I've bought and hated. Hopefully be downloaded nice and quickly.

Don't really get the obsession with meeting other players since there is no infrastructure to make those meetings interesting in the game other than "oh, neat, it's another guy!" You can't trade with them, you can't join up and do things together or form a guild. Maybe you can fight them?!

Anyway, Hello Games gives you a literal universe full of things and aliens and creatures you've never seen before and you just want to meet up with other people. Typical humans!

I'm with you at this point. I'#ve played a fair amount of the game and I know the systems at this point and I'm ready to explore deeper into the galaxy. Had some weird spoilery stuff happen today which got me excited. Really, really enjoying the game.

Fastest way i found is through Gold and Eridium (or whatever it is), you can make an utter fortune in no time, especially if there is a trade post on the same planet as plentiful amounts of the resources.

When is it safe to leave the starter planet? I can't leave due to OCD.

Also is there a MMS beginners guide? Showing icon meanings and basic gameplay strategies?

And did I hit the starter planet goldmine? No hazards in the atmosphere, green grass, tall trees, animals, large mountains and caves filled with glowing goodies?

So I came across this deserted planet that only really had iron in it, it was sandy everywhere but there was this HUGE worm/snake like creature slithering through and digging into the sand. It was approximately as long as one of those big trading ships and as thick as two Starships stacked on top of each other. It was really freaky..

I also came across some sharks in a watery and green planet as well, but it makes me wonder if there are creatures as big or perhaps bigger underwater..

So I've been hyping myself for this game for nearly three years, and in the past few weeks tried to temper my expectations.

I guess I did an amazing job at that because I am blown away by what they've done. My mouth dropped multiple times when discovering certain things while playing earlier.

Yeah. The learning the systems part, and the whole opening hours I found very pleasantly puzzling mixed with a nice sense of wonder and awe. Once the systems are learned, it opens up again. Fantastic design all around. Such a great blend of different things.

C'mon, there have been many others before NMS.

My advice, follow the objectives and leave as soon as you have repaired and can take off, and check out what else is in your starter galaxy.

Sheesh those comments on the Crowbcat video. I too usually dig Crowbcat but doing a full video on this game accomplishes what? What have they done that warrants that level of ribbing?

bro it wasn't safe for me to stay ON my starter planet.

As far as I can tell I've discovered all species on 1 planet, but on the Journey tab it says I have discovered all species on 0 planets.

All the boxes are ticked on the planet info screen and it says 100% complete. Am I missing something?

How do I know if I was charged for my Amazon order or not? I'm planning on cancelling it just after picking it up from the store.

Even if I was charged, can I be refunded if I cancel it?

Sick of this.
You should be able to return it unopened and get a refund if you can't cancel it.

Im absolutely loving it.

I cant make up my mind about something after getting the atlas pass.

do I have Nada give me resources, find a shortcut or continue the path of the Atlas?

Errrgh.

I bet you end up playing it longer than him, that is a fast track to burnout.

You are probably right, but he sounds like a badass/King of the Castle. I'm 4 planet systems away, in my busted ass starter ship feeling good about having 50K credits and a 12 words to my name.

Such a great game. :D

Can I instantly warp to any fond planet at any time? How is this done? Also what does a trading post look like? On a planet or in space?

I hope you named the desert planet Arrakis. That sounds cool as fuck.
