Is there no way to warp back to previous systems? I left so many planets unexplored. I wish I could access their location from the discovery tab or something.

What are shield plates and power cores used for?

Both are used to replenish parts in lieu of having the raw elements.

Power cores restore isotope tech (engines, pulse drive, etc.).

Shield plating restores shields on your ship.

I decided not to follow the atlas for now, and I'm just exploring. I'm on a hunt to find iridium, since I need it to rebuild one of my ship upgrades. Creating my own goals, exploring, learning languages, killing pirates. It's all very awesome.

My biggest grips with the game on PS4 are:

1. Field of view.
2. Input lag.

Both working together, combined with 30fps or lower, is making this game annoying for no reason. I would gladly lower graphics/resolution for a better FOV and reduced input lag. Navigation is a bitch with the input lag. Shooting is a bitch as well. Flying is good because the game doesn't let you crash that easily, but you don't have the floaty feeling when walking about. It's very stiff, making the input lag that bad.

Maybe if I roleplayed pirate or trader? I feel like the former would be fun, but the ship combat feels rough and slow. Plus, ships only get better as you get closer. You can't just power your shit up from the get go.

A trader would be fun, but I fear mining shit all day for the express purpose of making money might burn me out even faster.

I don't know. This game just isn't grabbing me like it should. I feel like there's a ton of downtime between interesting things if you aren't into looking at the same outposts and structures over and over.

You find a cave, and that's swell, but if you don't need shit in it, why explore it? The same stuff will probably happen. It's not like emergent quests were promised or anything, but boy would they have helped.

The one positive is we live in a patching culture.

Games change so much overtime nowadays that I've got a feeling this game will get much better.

I think them being a smaller studio who will likely really care what constructive criticism they receive, will mean they strive to make changes.

I only fired it up quickly so haven't had a real chance to form an opinion, but it's digital so even if I take a break from it, I'm stuck with it so will always come back when a new patch hits.

Go to galactic map and press right on the d-pad. It'll scroll you through your previous discoveries.

took me forever to figure out rofl

LOL...so I crack open my Wexford Irish Ale (in tribute to Sean of course), start up the game and just watch the stars zoom by on the title screen for a minute.

And then the game crashes. On the title screen.

LOL. Solid as a rock, this one.

Played a few hours now and yeah, this is the planetary exploration game I've been waiting for. The resource management is finicky and the servers are busted (although I'm sure they'll be fine in a few days), but other then that, exploring is fun and the three planets I've been on so far have been varied enough. Which is the main thing.

I believe if u buy a ship without hiperdrive, you will be able to build one. I have the pre-order ship that came with hyperdrive, but i believe i got a blueprint to build one in the beginning.
I have only been looking at the crashed ships, and the ones i found they have hyperdrives on them already.
Then you avoided the bug.

The glitch happens when the preorder ship is redeemed WITHOUT getting the blueprint.
If you switch over to the pre-order ship at the wrong time, you never get the tutorial and blueprint to build the hyperdrive. Which is what my current situation is
Yup.

It sucks but the best thing to do is start over. I played another 4-5 hours in my starsystem looking for solutions before giving up. 2 million units down the drain for me but unless you're willing to wait for a patch, it is the only way.

Yeah, considering how hard precious warp cells are, you really have to be sure you're done in a system before you warp out.

That's awesome, I've been spending alot of time on the planets I find the most interesting to me, just left a moon that was saturated in rainbow colors and friendly fauna.
I'm legit on the perfect planet...my first one lol. Purple grass, red trees and leaves, caves filled with gold,no hazardous environments, I've learned now a total of 40 words just on this planet, went thru two different multitools a jetpack upgrade and stamina mod. Found 3 ruins. It's awesome

Are you fucking serious :( I really don't want to start over. God dammit....

Ive been so excited about this game for years and this is really killing all momentum.

So I know some people have been screwed by having the preorder ship, trading up to another ship with no hyperdrive. Has anyone gotten out of this? I still have the preorder ship with a functioning hyperdrive but can't find any ships with one in spaceports, even super expensive ones.

Could be a big bug!

I learned how to build a hyperdrive through the quest process~

There's also ways to build different types of drives~

1 hour in and the game hard crashed. Ejected my disc even though I'm playing digitally and then it lost my save already :(.

Not a great start.

ok now I can't figure out how to do it again -.-

servers might have to be online..hmmm...I did in fact do it before. I scrolled through my previous discoveries in the galactic map with the dpad.

that's how I went back to a previous system I discovered and got the random anomaly for the AtlasPassV1

Really wish the servers weren't so damn wonky...

Spent a ton of time just getting tiny bits of valuable aluminum. Then I find THIS.

Yup.
.

I redeemed the ship right in the start, and im pretty sure i still got the blueprint. At least all other ships i find they have hyperdrives already on them.

Only problem i had with was when the game told me to go to a space station to fuel my hyperdrive, i when there but nothing happened. I had to bought antimater from the vendor there and just build a fuel cell. Or maybe that was the objective in the 1st place. :p

I used my pre order ship before getting the blueprints and just explored the planet (wasn't aiming to leave however) and eventually found blueprints through alien outposts. The game brought up the tutorial and everything eventually. Perhaps you're fucked though, just letting you know, it's not everyone. 🙃

I've put in 6 hours today and have yet to get a suit or ship inventory upgrade. Please help

http://m.ca.ign.com/wikis/no-mans-sky/How_To_Add_Inventory_Slots

This IGN link said to follow Shelters at the beacons but that has given nothing.

You should be looking for "Drop pods", those contain a single-use store in which you can purchase inventory slots. The first slot is 10,000u, IIRC. Each subsequent slot increases 10K, so you're next one is going to cost 20K, then 30K, and so on.

But yeah, keep a look out for those drop pods.

-Edit-
On those scanner stations with the beam shooting up, just keep requesting nearby shelters (gotta use a bypass chip) until one of them is a drop pod.

Like I said, you avoided the glitch. If you had skipped getting the blueprint, you'd be in the same boat.

Those other ships you're finding wouldn't have hyperdrives if you hadn't gotten the blueprint first

I am hopelessly addicted to this game. Sank a solid 8 hours in today instead of studying for my finals. Oh well. Worth it. With infinite exploration this really is my dream game.

Yeah, it seems pretty specific but pretty widespread.

Ugh. Done playing for tonight. Just combed both planets and the only blueprints I got were repeats of the same fucking multitool upgrades...

What a momentum killer. I hope this comes to Hello Games' attention ASAP. I really don't wanna restart...

Man i just got assaulted for mining. On a barren planet which has no life (but some really strange atmospheric noises and Gek laboratories) so I get in trouble for mining? C'mon space police.

This game has had me so giddy for the last few hours. Only stopped to watch Phelps and co and to eat. Currently on my second planet, which is just beautiful. I can see how this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but goddamn so far it is mine.

If you're still in the first or second system, you can still get the blueprint objective.

It is when you use your hyperdrive to jump to another system AND THEN switch to a ship without the hyperdrive that you'll be stranded.

The progression of the bug is...

  • redeem the preorder ship
  • skip or miss the hyperdrive blueprint
  • jump several starsystems ahead
  • switch ships (which won't have a hyperdrive)
  • DEAD

Ahhh got the suspension fluid recipe and plasma launcher.... really don't want to restart.

in theory I did too. To test it I have to give up my ship for one without a drive tho

I was just watching my buddy play this game
He found a moon where you can farm these plants and make over a million units every 20 minutes or so
He wanted to leave but still wanted it to be possible to return to this moon in the future to collect more money
I told him he should leave clues on each planet he visits on how to get back
We created an actual treasure map that other players can follow in this game
Say what you want about the game but that's pretty cool and not something I've ever seen done in a game before

I hope they release the PC version early, heh. Would be a shame if it was delayed just for 21:9 and FOV when they could easily patch that in anyway.

So are servers down? I thought a name for fauna and planets could only be used once. I named a plane "Earf" and a cow thing "Cow" thinking they would be denied.

Shame about those two player being unable to see each other. Maybe it was due to the RIP servers.

A gaffer just posted about someone else spotting him and PSN messaging him about it. But yeah the servers seem like they just stabilized to where people are "online".

Has anyone been selling their gek charms or gek relics?

I just did. I dunno if selling items to specific races nets more units though.

yeah, this planet is glitched with the last species to identify. the white circles appear and then disappear. narrowed it down to a cave most likely but by the time I get close the white circle actually disappears.

god fucking damn it.

Any tips on scanning flying birds? I think that's all I need to check everything off this planet but can't seem to get them to register.

The coolest thing happened to me.

Gameplay spoilers within the first 4~8 hours:
I got interdicted
.

Elite: Dangerous players will know what I'm talking about.

Had no idea the game would have that. It was awesome.

Sure this has been asked a billion times, but I just got into space for the first time and got an incoming transmission. How do I listen/view those?
