Dragon Quest VII and Trails of Cold Steel II, both of which should be very much of interest to anyone who likes JRPGs. Plus Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse if you want more of a dungeon-crawler.

Sorry man, I have absolutely no interest in any of those games at all. This is the only one I was interested in.

Is FFXV really competing with Pokemon?

Of course. Why wouldn't it be competing? They are both major jRPGs, and Pokemon isn't a game limited in its audience or appeal, it will absolutely dominate the airwaves for fans of the genre.

This should also remind people that FFXV is not a PS4 exclusive game. See, there's the Xbox One logo too? ;) So all the "It's because of the Neo" talk is stupid. They wouldn't delay a multi platform game (and one that had it's release date announced on the biggest release day announcement event ever) just for the Neo patch. Also, how many would even play FFXV on Neo compared to the other consoles? Like 3-5% Even that sounds very optimistic.

Having said that...that rumor could still be true...but I hope not. :(
But the proportion of people buying it on PS4 is gonna be substantially higher anyway. S-E knows this.

True reason is probs for optimisation anyway though!

There are a lot of Japanese games coming next month actually:
- Ace Attorney 6
- Psycho-Pass
- Steins;gate 0
- Persona 5 (JP)

BTW if it is true, it's good news for everyone (except maybe Square's business people). There are SO MANY games in September already, including some massive JRPGs, and there have been all sorts of rumors about FFXV being in rough shape. By the end of the year nobody will care whether it came out in September or November - they'll care whether it manages to keep a decent framerate and camera.

Completely disagree. This game is going to live or die based on its western sales and this date sends it to die against the biggest games of the year and after the biggest sales day in America.

You can take Jason's word to the bank going off by my time here on Gaf. I guess I'll expect the confirmation of the delay sometime next week.. Smh I'll be at Times Square for the premiere of Kingsgliave.

I can't believe Reyes didn't do this yet.

here you go buddy

I mean, why would you want better weapons to make fights easier? It's not a lot different than offering DLC with better things to people that may not care about the challenge per se. And the game was designed around only controlling Noctis. That extra stuff is... extra stuff.
Why wouldn't they be in the original game and require quests or farming like every other final fantasy games' ultimate weapons?

I really do not like comments like this. Which massive JRPG's? Persona 5? Wait a minute that comes out next year, in English. There are no other games I was interested in except this.

Anyway, I have a feeling it's been delayed. Not happy at all.

Well, maybe not you but I have a shitload of new Lego Dimensions coming out in Sept, SMT IV: Apocalypse and Psycho Pass. Dimensions alone is going to break my wallet.

Those kinds of weapons will still be there. Superfluous pre-order bonus items are rarely even worth using to begin with, it's not going to be some game-changer. I'm with you in that I think content should just be in the game, but this is nothing new despite how we may personally feel about the practice. That being said, it's hardly a reason IMO to not get the game. It's going to have your Ultimate Weapons and all that shit.

Yep I'm gonna play the hell out of all of those (minus P5). Plus a new Destiny raid, and then plenty of other big games in October and early November. There is no shortage of new stuff to play, which is just one of the reasons a delay would not be bad news if it's true.

Pushing back a game's release date is generally a good thing. It gives developers more time for them to refine their game before release.

That said I don't think the rumor is true. But I wouldn't be surprised or annoyed if it was.

In the end it would be for the better. But goddamnit I was ready for this. 10 years revealed. Big uncovered event. Goddamnit.

The more time that goes by, the higher the chance my debit card gets stolen/lost/fucked up.

I hate the square store. Basically if you deactivate the card you used the preorder the game you're fucked.

It wasn't going to set the world on fire next month either. Hype is non-existent outside of established fans and half of those people are skeptical themselves.

I think it's because of polish and optimization more than anything, but I think there is a certain benefit if they try to market it as something to push PS4 Neo. Most people might not experience that, but that would mean that at launch, consumers could have access to a version of the game that would be really amazing visually. It would allow them to market and hype up the game's visuals while having a real product to back that up.

To be fair, September 30th is the first official date we've gotten from VXIII/FFXV lol

With big games these days we usually get around three different release dates before the damn thing actually drops. :p

Yeah, I feel the game's primary issue is getting people to care in the first place.

Yes, huge titles grab attention away, but if you weren't appealing to a huge audience anyway...

Huge waste of money on SE's part holding that event, if it ends up being true. I hope it's not, but there are a bunch of other September games I want anyway so it won't be horrible.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 2 (PS3) - 9/6 (this one might get pushed back too)
MeiQ: Labyrinth of Death (PS Vita) - 9/13
Psycho Pass: Mandatory Happiness (PS4) - 9/13
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past (3DS) - 9/16
Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse (3DS) - 9/20
Valkyrie Drive -Bhikkhuni- (PS Vita) - 9/20
Shantae Half-Genie Hero (PS4) - 9/27
Steins;Gate 0 (PS4) - 9/27

Of course they wouldn't delay because a neo patch. Probably less than 5% of the people buying this game will play on the neo.

While this is obviously true, still.

I've been waiting for this for ten years, was getting all ready as September crept ever closer, and now SE has a headache again :-(

Also, 9/30 is my birthday. Is there anything worse than blue balls on your birthday?

These two in particular are far more relevant to my interests than FFXV at this point. Won't be paying full price for the latter, though (didn't do so for the original SMT IV either, and it came with much nicer bonuses with its launch edition when I did pick it up).

I'm pretty sure it would have disappointed regardless but there's nothing big on PS4 now until BF. It could have hoped to grab the casuals it needs in that September date.

I don't see anyone but the hardcore even looking at it with this date.

And piss off the overwhelming majority of FFXV purchasers who don't experience that really amazing visual quality.
Now you may say, they have no reason to be pissed off because this and that...but they still will be. ;)

I'd be okay with this, if only because I'll be playing a buttload of Rise of Iron at the time, and could use the space between them lol
