SFV August and September Update Detailed (Dailies, VS CPU, Ragequitting, more)

It's good that premium costumes will include the colors, especially now that they're more expensive than back in SFIV. Was probably salt on the wound having to go through Survival for those buyers.

Aw, too bad double FM is in Ranked only. Oh well, at least there's finally dailies.

I think it's clear that they can't otherwise we'd have a different system in place. My guess is that because this game is P2P and not server based (well, sometimes it is) then this is why they can't figure out who quit. Of course, I'm sure it's more complicated than that.

How does the current system work, then? Are they still relying on actual reports from users? Seems like they should be able to tell who is still connected to their server and who isn't when a fight is interrupted by a P2P disconnect.

So how many people are going to buy SFV now that VS CPU is in, people whined about so long?

I still think it's ridiculous people cared about this so much in a fighting game, where the only time I remember fighting the CPU was anything close to fun, was in VF4: Evo.

I think its a ridiculous a fighting game not having an arcade / ladder mode.

Why is it ridiculous to care about something they like and would convince them to buy the game? I wanted this since day one as I love making youtube vids out of this but now it's finally a reality.

You love making youtube vids of vs cpu? Do people want to watch that?

Still not adding DirectInput support or proper keyboard support, huh? They could address a good chunk of the negative reviews on Steam by just adding these features to the PC version. Oh well, I guess we should be happy that they are still releasing parity updates at all and don't completely abandon the PC version like NRS did with MKX.

Either way, I'm happy about the long overdue RQ punishment. This is something I could have needed way sooner though because frequent rage quits made the online experience in SFV one of the most frustrating ones I have ever had in any game. If the new system works, I might not drop SFV after all.

I dunno how many people watch them, but I've noticed arcade run-though vids (and not necessarily perfect/tool-assisted ones if the titles are anything to go by) of nearly every fighting game I've ever searched for on Youtube. They must enjoy making them.

Yeah... vs. CPU is cool and all... but a proper arcade mode would be better.

Especially if it included:

Online Leaderboards: Let players compete for the highest score (w/ statistical breakdowns)

XP / Fight Money Payout: At the end of each completion.. players are rewarded with FM Points & XP rewarded.

Daily / Weekly Targets: Have special lineups for daily targets and weekly targets with modifiers built in (ala survival)... fight money / XP rewards for completion.

^^having this would definitely change up the dynamic online.

I don't see what's so funny when many youtubers do it.

Well of course, I watch those as well. There's an audience for that.

How is it useless if the player quitting loses points? He would have no reason to RQ if it is still counted as a loss.
So you get nothing for putting your all into a fight.....? I'll have you know that not all ragequitters do so to save points, some ragequitters just want to deny you a win, so they will take a loss in points...... It could be that they beat you in a previous match or round and they thought it was going to be a walk in the park, taunting and all...only to get wrecked in the next 2 games out of 3, some can't handle that and would feel embarassed.

....Just an example, but people quit for many reasons. Some bison player once told me he don't play against grapplers, you'd be surprised at the reasons people quit, like a really low tier character like gief double perfecting a nash online who has more points and is in a higher rank......Here's the thing, If capcom punishes rage-quitting hard, like -200 LP and give the winner what he was suppose to receive, maybe 65-100LP, then that will cut out ragequitting entirely for whatever silly purpose the player deems he will pull the plug. There will no wry smile on the quitter's face thinking he prevented you from getting the points you won fairly, in that scenario the ragequitter loses any which way.

Thats called sarcasm.
i was speechless when i boot the game on day one, only to discover it lacked an arcade mode. From a series born at the arcades....
Its like releasing a new Ridge Racer / Daytona with no ai racing.

I fail yet again at sarcasm.

Yeah the lack of arcade does suck. It could come later though.

This will baffle me for all eternity as well mate.

I find it hard to care about double fight money weekends. What I really hoped for was double league point weekends. Does Capcom know how many ragequits some of us have experienced? I think I've been ragequit on more than sixty times. I should be like an ultra gold by now at minimum.

screw fight money, give me LP

Capcom Cup Surprise?

They said that one of the Capcom Cup exclusive outfits was for a surprise to be revealed closer to Capcom Cup. I do think that we get an announcement of year 2 plans in December, and today's update even alludes to something more robust launching early next year.

Shame the september update will probably drop at the end of the month. Means i'll have to wait til december to get me some of this

I guess we will see a massive influx of sales now that all the people who have "been playing since the old school days" can now fight the CPU.

If there is no Urien in September that leaves Urien in October with Extra Battle Mode as well as Stage Transitions

I assume Capcom will announce Season 2 at PSX in December.

Seasons 2 Predictions
Arcade Mode
Sagat as 1st character of 6 character DLC
New Gameplay Addition (Selectable Trigger/Super)
Motion Blur options (PS4 Neo only, already available on PC)
And of course more stages and costumes
I'm sorry, but this should stay out of fighting games, it looks awful. Try having MB on with some bad netcode where the other player is jumping all over the place, it's a soupy mess, even offline MB is the most jarring thing I've seen in a fighter, especially with the slower dash animations of certain characters and some CA's.

If Vs CPU is not just a toggle option within the current Versus mode, I don't know what they're doing honestly. In older games, Versus generally allowed you to pick CPU or a human player for controller slots 1 and 2 so it would be silly not to implement it here in the same way I feel.

(And yes, I want to be able to pick CPU again for both slots on occassion. I'm weird that way.)

We wouldn't have gotten it till now anyways given how like a dozen people worked on this with Kaz Hirai's couch cushion change for a budget.

Except for the Best Buy demos that already had it before the game even launched iirc.

So, nope.

Every new mode or feature that has come out up until now has been stuff that was already planned and/or announced. As simple as it sounds to just convert that AI behavior in the demo to make it a new Vs mode, that still requires programming and testing. So it's perfectly reasonable to believe that implementing a Vs mode was prioritized behind all of the stuff they promised before launch, thus wouldn't have been added until now.

I don't think he's the last character this year either.
You still holding onto hope for Sagat this year? If I recall, that rumor was already proven as fake.

I mean, that doesn't mean that we won't get Sagat ever, but they'll likely just focus on fixing other aspects of the game before Season 2 rolls by after Urien drops.

How could you prove it's fake? It's from that one weird leak that was half right about a patch and Ono's "Tiger Tiger" tease.

The rumor said that Sagat would be in the July update, which didn't happen. We also didn't get any free (as in, no need to pay real money or Fight Money) stages or costumes in the July update.

As for the Sagat tease, if I had to guess, that's probably our first Season 2 tease.

Ono posting a Sagat teaser wasn't a rumor.

Decapre is basically done.

The character pacing's been accelerated from the roadmap. There's a mystery costume. Something's up, and that something is likely an extra character (or characters.)
