Hyper Light Drifter |OT| We On A HyperLight Beam

Just had a great run. Beat the dash challenge, got 1304. Was frustrating me, I'd tried it so many times XD Beat the game without dying. Wasn't that bad after my NG+ run and learned to beat the bosses in that perfectly and also finally found the last gear bit I needed!

Just need one more trophy for the platinum. Super happy, didn't expect to do any of that and got them all in like an hour :)

Downloaded this today and started playing right away - enjoying it! That dash challenge room though...

I have a free day tomorrow and I plan on getting up early and cracking on with this.

Without spoiling anything, is there a point of no return in this game? I'm getting kind of addicted to finding secrets & I want to get everything, but some things require upgrades I don't have yet.

No you can finish the whole game and still go around looking for secrets and collectables :)

Beat the game!

Not a trophy guy, but wouldn't have minded a trophy for beating it. I did win the soccer game, somehow.

I guess I missed a boss? The
scythe
guy. Looking at the map, not sure why I can't open the Southern Area's SE door. I have 4 diamond modules, that looks like what the door needs, and tis the boss.

Also, slash-dash + shotgun = wrecked bosses. Didn't get sword reflect until the last boss. Glad I did

I just finished the western zone. It opened up a path on the western edge of the town that leads to an NPC who seemingly does nothing. Is there something down that path I'm missing?

kind of
be careful where you step

Boss to the west is kicking my ass. Did North/East without too much trouble, but this guy is a whole other story.

Shotgun helps and make sure you deflecting his projectiles if you have the upgrade. Also you can kite him into taking out his own crystallized allies before he summons them.

Do not have the deflecting upgrade. May have enough, so I think I'll go back and get it then try.

Thanks for tips!

Wait, so the North has two bosses? I could have sworn that I beat the North boss, but when I beat the West boss (my second boss, or so I thought), I activated a monolith for the first time. I thought I activated the one in the North as well, but the corresponding "mini monolith" in the town wasn't raised, so I thought I forgot to activate it. Turned out I didn't even meet the North boss until I went back to activate the monolith. Was the other guy just a mini-boss or something?

I'm not going to continue my progression through the game until I get The Dash Eternal trophy. Got up to 743 last night....

I think I am at the end now. I will hold off progressing to the final boss or whatever awaits me ahead because I am enjoying back tracking and finding collectibles I missed. I tried the Hoarde arena in town this afternoon and that was surprisingly fun. I think I have one more arena left before unlocking the trophy.

What a game.

The North has only one boss, what other guy are you talking about? :/

He's fast, but he has a pretty simple pattern: slash, slash, pause, shoot. What you'll want to do is dash away from his two slashes and then chip away at him as he pauses to shoot. I didn't have deflect either, but I did have absorb, so what I would do is dash into his shots and return fire with the rifle. If you don't have him destroy his own guys, what you'll want to do when he releases them is the same thing as usual, but go after them instead of him. He'll only summon other guys once.

Eventually, he'll switch up his pattern to three slashes, pause, and shoot. Keep going with the same strategy, but just be ready to dodge three slashes instead of two.

Bosses North and East took me a couple tries, West was a two shot. Pretty fun change on types of play.

Question, I just beat the West boss, is there a lot left in the game (main campaign)? Not sure if I have enough time to beat it and not sure I'll have enough time to beat it before NMS tomorrow.

I am so bad at the multi-dash that it is embarrassing (unless I am missing something significant) so challenges are not necessarily my thing. Cool that they have them in there.

You can now do the south region, and that's the final big area.

Beat the final boss yesterday. What a great game.

Going for 100% now - one thing I can't figure out in town is up the staircase towards the North area, there are some blocks preventing access to something off screen. Could someone give me a hint as to how I get those lowered?

This seriously helps a lot. Going to see how I fair tonight with him. Thanks!

Without spoiling how to get there all I'll say is that it will only get lowered if you approach it from the other side.

No problem. Let us know how it goes!

On another note, I've been finding that, surprisingly, I've been using guns as a main damage source in this game. I wish your two equipped guns didn't have to share ammo, though.

I beat it, had all the bosses unknowningly. Fun little game, still not 100% sure what happened. Is there a story thread or someplace online that people are digging at it?

Re-watching the intro after beating it, it seems that
the end of the world happened but well-behaved pointy-ear dog opened a tower that can take you back in time to stop the rise of the robot army of doom. It does cost your life for some reason and you are slowly dying...

I'm not 100% sure, but it could have been a large normal enemy, larger than the MC bird things, but smaller than the actual boss. I'm drawing a blank on what it looked like, but I do remember it being close to the warp pad.

There are several bird type enemies in the North but only one boss fight so maybe you mistook it for one? They don't have much health though so I would be surprised :)

GOT HIM! Took another 20 or so tries, kept fucking up and getting cheap hits that just drained me. But I ended up going and getting deflection upgrade which was huge! Then just dodged, hit him in between his attacks, then deflected two or so of his shots. So relieved, was a pain for sure.

On to the south I go...

jesus christ. this game is too hard for me. When you end up with one life in dungeons, where you have to get past all kinds of enemies. I just can't do it. I walked back to the centre of the map, healed, and ended up getting lost and my ass kicked somewhere else again.

Right now I'm at this place in the east where I guess I have to dash on these little squares, that immediately turn on fire as soon as I step on them, so I can't dash on these squares?

What the fuck do I have to do. All these difficulties are turning me off a bit.

Solution for the fire squares:

Do you have the chain dash? You need that to get past that and it is still quite tricky. All the things where you need a chain dash are completely optional though so you can just leave it for later.

No I havent found anything really. i'll look up some starting tips. I quite like the zelda-ish flavor. But i'm clueless.

Too easy to play overwatch instead, you get what i mean?

I'm finding this pretty brutal too. Maybe I've been spoiled by years of 2D Zeldas, or even Alundra which is pretty straightforward compared to this. I haven't even reached a boss yet - I'm lost in the east, trying to find the last quarter panel which will presumably open up the way to the boss. The one I can't find is just below the boss door, according to the map. Doesn't help that I'm playing a few games on and off so don't have time to dedicate solely to this.

Finished the game last night and man what a ride. Having come off Dark Souls 3 (great game and might be my fav of the series) and not having much of a challenge since I've basically mastered the mechanics of that franchise, it was refreshing to have that same feel from the first Souls game back. The bosses really gave me that same sense and the Zelda flair makes things feel original.

Finally started playing this today. Four hours and one boss later: wow, what a game.

I started West, but couldn't find any diamonds so went North and bet that area instead. I really dig the scarcity of the healing items. Fun stuff.

Alright. Just keep playing. Don't stress to much about things you don't get yet. Hyper Light Drifter demands you figure some things out on your own.

Are any of the bosses optional in this game? Like are there any hidden bosses that you could miss?

There are some optional bosses yes, but not really 'hidden' per se. If you explore, you can easily find them on your own. They're also in the same area,
south

So awesome to get a boss without warning and have this beast of a track starting to get you pumped. God I love this game

In the end, the north boss ended up being the most challenging. Maybe because I didn't have the dash chaining at that point. That upgrade seems so, so much better than everything else you can buy.

Oh man, the green outfit makes the chain dash challenge so much easier. I got it in less than 10 tries, upping my record from 413 to 813.

The hardest part was trying to stay calm and not mess up once I got into the 700s.

Started the game this weekend, it's great. I'm stuck though. Do I need 4 triangles before I can fight the north boss? Currently have 3 and can't find other ones. Also, do you need to have the modules (I think they're called that?) highlighted on your map before you are able to get them, and what's the difference between modules highlighting in your map in pink (as they appear in game) versus in white on the map? Confused about a lot of this stuff.

1. No. You only need 3 to challenge the boss
(but there are actually 8 per region, and you'll need them all to open a specific door in the area)
.
2. No. As long as you come across them, you can access them.
3. I think the grayed out ones are ones you got already. I find the map is pretty much useless, though.

Ok, thanks for clearing this up! I have three, so how do I challenge the north boss? The entrance to him (just north of the north wing warp gate) is blocked off. I also recently bought chain dash as my first upgrade which I have read really helps with this fight.
