Hyper Light Drifter |OT| We On A HyperLight Beam

Thinking of starting this, been wanting to play this for a while, question though, should I start this on easy? Sounds pretty tough on normal, can you adjust the difficulty mid game?

I played on normal and found it fine. Alot of tough areas, but manageable.

I showed the game to my girlfriend the other night on easy mode. She is terrible, but was able to hold her own. I think easy mode is too easy personally.

So this is the exclusive Amazon.co.jp wallpaper that comes with Playism's Japanese PS4 release of HLD. Meh. I was hoping for the Yusuke Kozaki art.

It's really satisfying on Normal. You will get banged up and die, but learning and then overcoming will be deliciously satisfying. It's tough, but not that tough.

This also makes NG+ an excellent kind of replay.

Bumping this for a mundane question:

So I went up where the birds were, the guy I met gave me two dots on the map, one was down, one up. I went do the down one and it was a dark room with some creepy noise. My question is, do I miss a gameplay mechanic to activate something or will I get an item or trigger something to continue there later on?

Very early in the game.

Just started this game today. I love everything about it, but that damn dash challenge.

WTF were the devs thinking? Bad game design IMO. 400 would be more understandable, but this is just silly.

It is pretty ridiculous. Even on PC I don't have the rhythm skills to tap 800 times and doing the challenge as intended (going around the track) would be even more difficult.

Is that in the northern srea of the map? I'm pretty sure being in that room confused as well but I don't think you necessarily need to be there to progress at this point. Just keep exploring.

I beat it on normal yesterday and I really liked it. A lot of games try to be "Metroid-like", but this one really is the one that fully scratched that itch for me as far as the whole vibe goes, all the while managing to be its own thing.

It's the kind of game I get back to until 100%. However, even though a part of me wants to continue, the game doesn't feel like it's trying to entice me to keep playing. I didn't have problems with the map, but it really is too obscure for its own good in case you want to complete it.

I'm all for exploration and I'm not asking for blinking checkboxes and exclamation marks, but just a little something to nudge you along, you know? Anyway, I'll let it sit for a while and see how I feel in a few days. Hopefully I feel like diving back in. Maybe with a guide, idk.

Finished the game, it was pretty good.

While the game was easy for the most part I got the feeling that if I hadn't upgrade specific abilities some parts would be a pain in the ass. Also north has a higher difficulty compared to east and west imo, glad I left that one for last.

The 8-module room north was probably the hardest section of the game for me, all those fucking birds with plattforms disappearing holy shit.

The last weapon we can unlock makes the last boss a cakewalk though. Before that the shotgun was also incredibly good for something that you can unlock so early in the game.
