Hyper Light Drifter |OT| We On A HyperLight Beam

Sounds like no one is quite sure what it does at this point. I haven't researched it too much though. Maybe someone here can clarify.

Just the 800 dash challenge left for me to do. 242 is my best so far.

Saw a few people recommend going back and forth across the bottom rather than around in a loop, but i'm finding that far harder. Just need to stick with it I think.

I think going back and forth only really works with a mouse and keyboard.

Finished the east boss on my second try, fun fight! I'm soooo glad I finally bought this game after being scared off by reviewers calling the game very difficult. It's certainly challenging, but it never feels insurmountable. One of the best games I've played this year for sure.

To beat that, you just need to fill out all the boxes, right? I noticed in one arena that the enemies kept coming even afterward, and I just assumed it's unending.

Yeah - once you fill all the boxes the screen flashes and a little music chime plays to say you've beaten that area. After that it's just keep going for a high score.

Beat east and north bosses. I don't understand why I can't open a door in north area (the one with four triangles on it, I already found all of them in that area).
Great game so far, amazing soundtrack.
I unlocked two or three upgrades, need to practice for the dash challenge.

100% the same for me, going to be in my top five of the year for sure.

I just beat the North boss, it was so easy.. I almost did it first try, but completely nailed it the second time. Shotgun is deadly yo

There are 8 triangles.
That's why it won't open.

North complete (100%) it was much easier than the east for me. I still need to go back to the east and get the final node and some keys / gear bits etc

This game is fucking brilliant

Just finished West. Beat the boss second time by the skin of my teeth.
Just south to go. Found all power nodes so far. Missing a monolith in West and prob missed loads of gearbits but love hunting them down. Will make a Trek into the 8 triangle door in West later tonight. The shotgun is excellent.

Thanks, I saw it earlier but I'm more looking after the ideas that were scrapped and why.

They've said that it was to make the game flow better. Things that looked good in the beginning didn't look good to them near the end. That's what they've said anyways. They've got a couple of unused character models and animations. Seems odd. Even a few animations of the main character doing some weird moves that don't exist.

Thanks, do you have a source?

I'm so sad for Ps Vita version. It was the platform to play this game.

Anyway, let's move one.
Should I buy it on PS4 at full price or wait for a discount?
How good is this game?

I really love it. I was initially turned off because of how "difficult" I heard it was, but its not... it can be tough alot of the time but you get into this groove, like you can see the matrix and it all clicks into place.

Plus its gorgeous and hands down features the best soundtrack of the year by a mile.

I don't think the PS Vita has enough buttons for this. I tried it on Remote Play, and not having four shoulder buttons was kind of a big deal.

That said, the game is fantastic, and you should get it now.

Okay, so I've just beaten the boss in the East. Where is the next easiest territory? Bearing in mind I've really frigging struggled with it so far. Great game, but bastard hard!

East was your first? Then go north. Pretty easy encounters but boss is harder, so be prepared for that. West has the hardest boss, you may want to save that for last.

I really hope they fix remote play now that vita is cancelled. It's unplayable with the aim and shooting attached to the touch screen

fwiw, I found the North the hardest, but it was before I unlocked the multi-dash. That thing is damn near required for some of the bosses in this game, including West.

Alright, I cleared the north and I'm now heading south. Upgrades so far I've bought are the multi-dash, the sword charge swipe and the sword ability to knock projectiles back at enemies. I've also picked up a grenade which I've yet to use. Leaving it there for tonight, as I'm heading up to bed now. Took a while to click, but I'm really enjoying it. Gives me vibes of lots of different games, from the isolation of Super Metroid, the gameplay of Zelda: ALttP and I get Fez vibes from the visuals and music (the latter for obvious reasons).

I can't find my way into the south dungeon. Found a couple of golden cubes en route but there's a wall literally about 100 metres outside of the village and I can't find my way past it. Any tips?

I was in the exact same position today. Beat East and North and South is blocked. Headed West.

West boss is kicking my ass! I know the pattern, but I'm having such a hard time timing my reflection sword swings on the projectiles. 60 fps would do wonders.

I'm totally lost in the western area. Spent about two evenings looking around but I've only found two containers. Don't know what I'm doing wrong and a little more direction would be useful.

What type of game is this, if you had to compare or combine two games to describe it? It looks like something right up my alley, but I want to go in as blind as possible, and right now I'm pretty fucking blind outside of some screenshots back before release. Is there anything random about it as far as generated levels, loot, etc?

Hoping for something like Zelda/Metroid as far as level design, and if there is combat, that it's hard but extremely fair.
