Limited Run Games - Putting digital games into your hands

I like the concept, but they still haven't done a game I've been interested in.

Same, I liked oddworld but the incredibly lazy boxart actually pushed me away. Could've actually been creative and done an homage to Abe's Oddysee rather than him just standing there with review scores of all things on it...obviously to advertise and draw in prospect players...

Wish they would do Soldner-x 1, PS4 Dariusburst, a housemarque collection with super stardust, dead nation, resogun, alienation.

Any chance Breach and Clear Deadline will get a patch?

I'm getting pretty frequent crashes during load times :(

This is something I wanted to ask by the way. How is LRG faring in terms of "stability" ? Are the games generally running correctly without the need of any patch ?

(still waiting for my Soldner to arrive ;) )

I always felt the review scores were coherent with the theme of the game. It's "New and Tasty" after all, and advertising mudokon food is a big part of the plot.
Plus, I don't understand how a boxart can tip the balance enough for someone to pass on a game altogether. Nobody would have played Megaman if it was that important ^^

Oddworld is terrible in terms of stability. I played through my LRG copy a week ago and suffered several elevator glitches (where Abe would faLL through the floor and not respawn), plus the game crashed frequently and there is one room where the game can glitch and kill the frame rate if you throw a grenade. I love the game, its clearly great in terms of gameplay but its the glitchiest game I think I've played on the Vita (and I've played an awful lot of Vita games).

Poor Douglas haha

I saw on twitter that they even managed to insert the wrong cards with the games. That's quite an achievement.

Still waiting for my package, hope everything is okay :x

Still waiting for my package her in the UK. Hopefully I'll get it this week and there won't be any problems with it. I feel bad for the LRG guys, all this mess is what the fulfilment center should be there to avoid.

Well, they made it right and I received the missing Breach & Clear Deadline soundtrack CD today! Thanks! Awesome packaging, too.

Do you guys ever, you know, talk about playing the actual LRG releases? :p I with someone else here was giving Deadline a shot :( I just made it to the second open world area, and it's really great. The way the game transitions from letting you play in real time to ever so slowly requiring more tactics by the time you are 5-6 hours in is pretty awesome. It's also mixing up zombies with humans in combat scenarios at this point, so there's also strategy in finding the right timing to attack bandits with guns when they are busy dealing with zombies, for example. It feels more like a mix of an open-world RPG and... Valkyria Chronicles? Maybe? Than a standard tactical shooter game. Really well done.

I think I'm going to back and try to play the original Breach & Clear again after beating this one. I didn't like it back then, but I don't know if it's because I didn't give it enough of a chance.

Yeah but is it Oddworld that is instable, or is it LRG's Oddworld ? ;)
But I've never read anything in regard of this so I guess it should be fine.

Sounds cool from your descriptions though.

There's no difference. I'm only mentioning a B&C patch here because Mighty Rabbit Studios is LRG's sister studio.

Just be aware that it has technical issues and the gameplay might be a little overwhelming at first -- definitely don't take the tutorial as a signal, since it's locked to a standard area. The game gets going 10 or so minutes in once you are out in the open world with your 4-person team.

Yes! We're putting out a stability focused patch + a slew of other small fixes, targeting end of this month or early September on PS4 and Xbone.

(I'm a Mighty Rabbit dev not doing LRG stuff lurking the thread, glad some people are opening our games :) )

YES!

You have no idea how happy this makes me, I'm legitimately loving the game and pimping it out to everyone I know. Currently exploring the post-Sewers area :)

*If* it helps in any way, other than stability, there's two bugs I've run into:

- I had gotten the skill point for increasing the inventory by 10% (30 -> 33), but somehow my inventory is now back at a cap of 30. Hopefully this can be fixed too!
- After getting to the second open area, the discovered map of the first area disappeared once I found a fast travel point and went back to the Stadium.

Adding this one to our buglist...

...and this one has already been found and fixed, and will be in the patch. Thanks for reporting them!

A bit. I was talking about SMRPG a while back. One of my few plats I have, I wish they would give some closure though, they leave too much plot unresolved. Even so, I really liked it. I still have B&C in one of my Vitas for when I need to kill a few minutes. Missions are a good length for pick up and play. Octodad was fun for a while, but started to drag after a while. I felt the opposite for xeodrifter. I wish it had more planets. That's all I've gotten around to playing so far though.

I bought Oddworld which I fully intended to play, but other stuff came out and I kept it in the plastic for now. I wanted it because I saw a video of it running and it looks great. I remember the original on PS1 and I always thought it was really cool but I never got to own it. I actually had no idea what New and Tasty even was before I saw LRG selling it and I decided to take a look.

I also bought Soldner X2 which I put in right away the day it arrived. That's a pretty good little shmup right there! I like the look, sound, and feel. I'm a bit of a Vita collector and I've been wanting a good shmup on there for a while now, so its nice to finally have one thats exactly the style I was looking for. Since Square never bothered to put Einhander on the NA PSN, I figure this is a pretty nice consolation prize. I'm glad I got a copy because apparently it was in higher demand than some of the previous LRG releases.

BTW, you've got me interested in Breach and Clear Deadline now. Had no idea what it was really, but seeing you throw out ANY comparison to Valkyria Chronicles has gotten my attention. I realize they're radically different, but still.

I own three. Oddworld I don't feel like playing at the moment. Octodad I platinumed and no-one seemed interested in talking to me about the trophies being in Japanese in this thread apart from one person I think. And Soldner hasn't arrived yet!

This sounds awful.

Can anyone confirm if this is also the case on the PS4 version?

I only got the PS4 version of Oddoworld digitally but I never ran into these sorts of problems with that version (I didn't complete the game though, but did get pretty far). I'm guessing the PS4 version should in theory be ok, seems more like a rushed Vita port than anything else. Which is a shame as when the Vita version runs ok its a super playable and fun game. But having to restart the game sometimes pissed me off.

It's a Unity game. It does not perform well on PS4 too. Though it looks significantly better, but still not a great experience if you ask me.

So it being a Unity game, what does that have to do with it being poor performance?

And that is really disappointing. Hopefully there is a patch (or patches) being worked on for this, as well.

I honestly don't remember a single crash or major glitch in New 'n' Tasty Vita. There were some parts with performance issues and you could tell the graphics were downgraded but I don't remember anything like crashes or falling through elevators. I did play it a while back though and not with LRG's release so maybe I'm not remembering it clearly. I beat the game and overall I enjoyed it, even if there were some frustrating segments.

I'd be tempted to play the digital version on my Vita to see how it compares, but since there was no patch to download on the physical version when I started it, I don't think it'll perform any better than before. The elevator thing was really weird as it happened twice in a couple of minutes on my first playthrough, though didn't happen on my hard playthrough. The only glitch I experienced in the same place on both playthroughs is right at the end of the game - where you have a half dozen of those dog like things chasing you, and mines on the floor. Throwing a grenade at the mines would kill the frame rate 50% of the time and would require a restart of the game.

For those waiting in Europe: I just got my B&C Deadline copy today (I'm in the UK). So, you should all get your orders very soon. Mine was safely packaged in a box. So, very happy with it!

Got this today, was the correct game and no issues with the order. I'm a very happy chappy and jazzed for Rainbow Moon on Friday!

I don't remember crashes when I played Oddworld (PS+ free). What I remember, though, is that they had to make a patch because the new controles felt HORRIBLE and led to a lot of frustration. I was that close to dump the game and rate it 3/10 out of spite. Then they added the "traditional" controls from the original game (must push a button to run, etc) and it changed everything. From there, I really enjoyed it.
Giving a new shiny example of : "if it's not broken, don't fix it"

Ok, continuing on with the whole Vita Oddworld performance questions - I've been playing the digital download of the game (I deleted the physical game off my card, and am using a brand new save file).
Nope, still crashes at times. I've had a couple of random crashes and I'm just outside the first of the two temples about 33%-50% through the game. I also had the game crash just like my physical version - where it failed to load the FMV as you enter the first temple (the game goes nuts and starts flickering and eventually crashes).

Its not crashing every few moments, but I'm doing a very quick run and am still seeing it crash more than I'd be happy with. So its not a problem with the physical Vita release, just that its a glitchy game (and for the record, I'm not the only person that have had these issues). It is a great game though, and the crashes don't really bring the game down. I still really enjoy playing it over and over!

Oh, and on a more positive note - my copy of Soldner X2 has arrived today :)

UK is always first, not fair! Expecting mine at the end of the week

I am in the US and I received my Soldner last Thursday. But maybe because the soundtrack bundles were sent out first?

So who is planning to get what on Friday? At the very least, I want a PS4 Rainbow Moon and Shadow Complex. I will try for a Vita RM as well, but I know how fast Vita can sell out.

I think I'm leaning toward PS4 RM. Box art looks better, and everyone else is talking about going for the Vita version, seems like PS4 might be less risky. Definitely going for Shadow Complex too.

Still want to put more time into Soldner though. I did a quick run through last week, but looks like there's still a lot more to the game.

I don't expect the same troubles I had last time with Soldner so I'm gonna go for all 3. Can't afford to ebay any more games and I shouldn't have to cause I'm always on the site refreshing like an addict a few minutes before it goes live. Pray for me please.

Rainbow Moon Vita might be the one to sell out first, but the one I want the most is Shadow Complex, then Rainbow Moon PS4.

What to do?

Maybe try to place an order with all three... Maybe.

Wasn't Rainbow Moon supposed to have a separate CD listing, too? Unless I read wrong, or it'll be out at another time.

That's what I'm doing. I'm pretty confident it'll work out.
3 tabs. Reresh until add to cart appears and add each one.
Pick any tab to check out.

This is exactly what I do, and it’s worked out for me so far. I even log into PayPal first before making the purchases.

I’ve been fortunate so far, never missed a game I’ve tried for. Of course now that I’ve said that…

Yeah, I heard about the separate listing for the Rainbow Moon CD. Not sure if that will go live the same day, or another one.

I heard though it’s the same one Eastasiasoft sold on their website a couple of years back, they are just giving LRG their remaining stock. I already have the CD, so it’s not something I will try for.

But I do recommend to those that do not have it, to pick it up. Rainbow Moon as a great OST.

I actually enjoy the scramble to get everything and check out as fast as possible

Looking forward to Friday, one of each game for me

Rainbow Moon has been by far the game I’ve anticipated the most since it was announced last April. Murphy's Law dictates it will be the first game I miss. Although I think I should be ok for the PS4 version, which is the one with my higher priority.

Yeah, that's the plan then.

And if any of them don't go live at the same time like the Soldner bundle didn't, just check out and come back ASAP to keep refreshing.

That was Soldner for me, then it became unlucky #13! I genuinely wish you the best of luck :)
