Final Fantasy XV - 50 min video

What you guys think are the chances of the Versus clothes being in the game?

latest

Before this video I thought it was a far fetched cause I didn't think they would let you change out of the Roen style clothing. But now we know that we can and the clothes they do give you are more realistic, I wonder if they decided to put these in as a nod to those who've been waiting.

The only good outfit there is Noctis'

Old Noctis and co is meh. Iris trying that overly bubbly cute thing on Noctis but failing.. Haaaaaahaa.

Didn't think the VA was that bad, but maybe I just have a high tolerance. Though sometimes it sounds pretty awkward. Also everything seems to be at the same volume level / direction? I think Ignis sounds the worst so far to me.

I just skimmed through because I'm in a hurry.

Obviously the game needs a lot of work still. That extra two months could prove to be invaluable.

Very pleased about the wardrobe customization.

Older Noctis looks...super cool. They almost look like two different people.

Same physical structure though.

"Old" Noctis kind of looks like a young Samanosuke with a beard. I like it.

Yeah they are definitely doing an "in the interest of time" thing here; most of the cutscenes and parts of gameplay are truncated or outright ommitted.

I have to say, watching this the VA is kind of growing on me. It's not like 'good' in the same way an Uncharted game is, but more of a coherent character is starting to shine through. Also liking the feel of the world from the stuff shown.

My main issue at the moment is the control scheme. O to attack and Square to Defend is not a system that makes much sense to me. Would much prefer Square to attack and R1 to guard. Do you think there'll be multiple control schemes?

Oh god did Noct just 'Draw' Magic?

There's 3 control schemes duscae, platinum and a third one

Watched a lot of it. Game seems a lot more FF after viewing it. Definitely agree with the delay, after this gets polished this games going to be awesome

Yeah the kingdom is Lucis, I just marked it based on the in-game map which doesn't differentiate the city and it's surrounding areas.

I think that this is the country's map, where Insomnia, Duscae, Leide and Cleigne are all part of the Lucis kingdom (at least before Niflheim invaded them).

if you scaled this map to the overall model that they made....which I find almost impossible to believe. But I have faith that you are really, really good at what your doing.....I mean everything seems solid. Then we have probably the biggest game world.....since Fuel.

I think the thing that annoys me the most about the VA atm is how the dialogue often plays over each other. It almost feels like it's not edited/timed properly.

I really want Noctis and Prompto's outfits from the Versus days in the game.

That's how I felt during the Duscae demo, but assumed it wasn't representative of the full game. Say what you will about XIII series, but the dialogue flowed naturally and the cast did a pretty good job despite the shitty writing/dialogue. I don't really think it'll be a big problem with XV, but some of the dialogue does come off as very stilted or poorly edited.

What happened to the old battle theme? Or are there different battle themes depending on region? The one from Duscae was pretty cool (both day and night versions).

Also, I still dont like Gladiolus' VA delivery.

The battle themes probably change for each area. I mean, we can hear like 5 different battle themes in this video lol

Most likely different battle themes for areas, monsters, and time.

Liked everything I saw of that. That said I'm probably gonna go with Jap audio on this game like I did for Type-0. Visuals aren't that great either, which is obvious if you look at the car-fire that is the screenshot thread.

Cool. I just started watching the video, so it just immediately jumped out at me.

Gotta say I kinda miss the days on full equipment sections in Final Fantasy, and not just accessory slots. Im not even one of those guys who wants all equip to be represented visually either.

Music is great. I actually like the world and it's blend on realism/fantasy. Animations are really nice, if over the top sometimes. Combat looks meh - not good, not bad, very flashy and nice to watch. Like the draw points being related to items that makes sense. Character progression looks very linear, have to wait and see more on that. The lack of detail on distant objects drops off way too fast, the lighting is all over the place and the English voice acting is straight up bad IMO.

And from a few pages back, this game doesn't look better than Witcher 3 on PS4.

I miss this too. I think FF IX and XII nailed on this.

Great preview from AP

I came out of my hands-on more excited about Final Fantasy 15 than I’ve ever been. I also came out of it more curious. This is a strange and bold game with brilliant ideas in places and big ambitions. Whatever you make of its protracted development it’s plain Square Enix has thrown all they have at this.

That background feels like Final Fantasy 7 and the arguably equally ambitious Final Fantasy 13. The main question now is — which way will it go? Square Enix has until November to determine that, but this build is a solid starting point. You got me, Square – I’m interested again.

I really don't know why they stopped doing that. I, too, miss the mainline entries where you equipped stuff in every slow (body, head, arms, legs, feet AND accessories). Is it just one of those things they think make the games "too complicated" for the more casual FF fans?

Speaking of dubs, does anyone know if all the confirmed language dubs will be in the NA version of the game? Or will German/French be for EU only?

I remember a friend once said that for Anime/VG voicework, interruptions are some of the hardest things to do. In normal dialogue in movies or ADR sessions where all the actors are present it's of course easy to do naturally; but having someone interrupt or talk over someone else is much harder to get right in most Anime dubbing because you don't have another person to play off of. At best you'll sometimes hear the audio clip of the other person's line, and most of the time you won't even get that.

Definitely. I will say the spell effects are a hell of alot better than what XIII brought to the table. And im talking about minor Fire, not Firaga or anything. So thats a definite plus.

Yes, FF XII and XIII were kind disappointing regarding the spells effects. (XII mainly). FF IX was really nice, the "-gas" spells were mind blowing.

Watched it on my phone at work and really liked what I saw/heard. Will rewatch more closely once I'm home.

Also Gladio is the best bro.

Its possible I suppose... but i'd think we were past "Final Fantasy USA" stuff by now lol. But seriously, you might be right.

On music, you guys were right. Just heard the battle theme from Duscae.

Maybe this is the entire game map!

Yes I know, no Tenebrae and Altissa haha)

I am actually interested in why the map seems to cut off around the edges instead of continuing though.

I already liked the combat in episode duscae, so this is looking great in my opinion.

A shame about the IQ though, but I'm sure I'll just get used to it.

EDIT: And fuck the haters, old Noctis looks great!
