Final Fantasy XV - 50 min video

Exactly! This is the main reason I'm hoping for a Neo version to be honest. The new console should be available when XV releases now, right? I don't want 4k, but 1080p at a constant 30fps in ALL situations, with some great anti aliasing and denser foliage would be fantastic. The IQ and framerate have had me worried about this game for months, so in a way I'm really glad it's now a post-Neo game.

The new console can be released before ffxv release date or way after. We'll know in like 3 weeks lol. So right now I'd say just wait till then. Hopefully before ffxv release date cause im sure that's when I'll trade in my ps4.

I don't personally mind the image quality too much. Ultimately it's a rather ambitious game and the sole user of its engine. I mean, I notice minor technical issues, but I imagine the final release version at the end of November will smooth some of those over.

I can't stop laughing. You win the internet.

Everything always looks so much better offscreen.

Regardless of the graphics, I need a new FF in my life and I've been waiting for this one for 10 bloody years.

this FF despite everyone screamy bloody murder over the graphics is the type of FF I have wanted for a long time. Ever since demo'ing Duscae I have been waiting for the moment of damn launch of this game. Cannot wait till November.....hell I'm excited for the movie to be availab eon digital in just a matter of a couple weeks.

Why does everyone's hair look so low res?

Low res!? It's the damn hair that's probably making the game chug haha. It's like trying to play Witcher with the Nvidia Hair Works On.

It isn't anything like Hairworks.

They're using alpha cards, but the problem is that they're too expensive to alpha blend, so they dither it to awful effect.

There are other games that have used this shortcut namely Paragon/UE4 and Uncharted 4. The difference there is that their TAA solution effectively does the same thing as alpha blending.

As someone who hasn't been keeping up with footage of the game, and whose hype has been at an all-time low after the recent delay...I have to say I'm really, really pleasantly surprised.

Graphics seem fine to me. Sure, I guess things could look better, but I really couldn't give less of a fuck about dithering or whatnot, especially in a game of this scope and size. As long as the visuals don't hurt my eyes or look insultingly bad (like the menu texture in the diner, yikes), I'm not bothered.

Combat looks fun and brisk, which is what I was hoping for. Hopefully we get some epic boss battles (I haven't seen the Titan fight everyone was talking about a while ago).

I resisted the "anime boyband brotrip" concept for so long, but now, seeing the four guys interact and have fun together...fuck it, I'm in. Love the interplay between them and the real sense of friendship there. Gladio is hot AF and I don't think Prompto is going to annoy me as much as I'd feared, so that's a plus.

The hunts are giving me strong FFXII vibes, but I hope they're not the only sidequests available; variety is good!

Speaking of variety, love how many different monsters we've seen so far, and that many of them are reimaginings of classic FF enemies.

Soundtrack seems to be God-tier already, and we've only heard snippets so far!

Now on to the negative...I just cannot deal with Ignis's voice. His VA sounds like someone badly imitating what they imagine to be an upper class English accent, and some of his pronunciation is really off. Cindy can jog on, too -- in a game with such a reduced focus on female characters, I really can't handle a walking, yeehaw-ing stick of fanservice.

Still, I'm definitely feeling positive about the game now, which is a minor miracle in itself.

Glad I watched before I read any comments since I can say I genuinely enjoyed what I saw. Hunts seem fun, and the minigames look pretty neat and as though they had some effort put into them. I liked the VA honestly, felt they fit the characters, even if some of the accents are a bit cartoony.

I feel like some people wanted some overly serious melodramatic dialogue but it seems like they went with a more fun take. Can't quite put into words what I mean by this accurately, but it seems like the game isn't afraid to get a bit goofy with things. Glad they went this direction.

Music is great, as if anyone was gonna be surprised by that. This totally made me super hyped to play it.

Yeah I really liked it too. I think the voice choices are quite good so far, also cool we finally got to hear them with proper lip synch which really helps. Especially Noctis, Cindy (some may not like it but it fits the character they made perfectly and she comes off likable right away IMO), Cor (sounds kind of like Crispin Freeman, which is awesome if so), Cid and Prompto. Gladio's fine and now there's separation between his voice and the new Noctis voice. Ignis is iffy and a bit over-dramatic but I like what they are going for so I think I'll like it in the end and I'm already pretty used to it over the several showings of the game we've heard him.

Great to see (and hear) her in the footage. She'll probably only show up a few times but I love her design, her voice and animations were good too.

The bits of the soundtrack already in the early part of the game are damn fantastic.

True, but Sony require all games released after October to have a Neo mode, right? So even if I have to wait until the Neo releases in Spring 2017 (which seems highly unlikely) I'll still be able to play a version of this game without the IQ and performance issues. That makes me really happy, and is well worth waiting for to me. Not that it can't be perfectly enjoyable to those of you who don't mind the hair aliasing and framerate dips. Just good to know this game will definitely have a more future-proofed version available from launch =)

Are you British by any chance? I often wonder if it's only us Brits who notice the bad fake accent. It's doubly annoying because Gideon Emery is American but NAILED Balthier's British accent in XII. He could play as the next Bond with a voice like that.

Also i like the hair, it wpuld not be FF without next gen hair technology

It wouldn't be Square without next gen hair tech =D I remember playing Mass Effect and Skyrim and cringing at the static hair models, remembering how Vagrant Story had animated hair two whole generations ago on the PS1.

Nothing about that hair technology is new (or particularly good).

One of the most boring useless characters atm.

Her accent makes her sound like a damn loon. Seriously, you don't have to say 'yall' like 5 billion times, and 'paw paw' as if that makes you sound really darn tootin.

I think iris should have been far more prominent than it seems like she is in the story, and taken Cindy out entirely.

It's no HairWorks, but for console it looks top notch (aliasing aside - really hoping they can address that with UC4 quality TAA with the Neo version).

They don't need a neo version to address that. They only need to fix their TAA (which looks to be a bit of a crappy implementation).

That's hilarious, I'm English and I thought he was voiced by an American doing a poor English accent. Very strange.

A lot of british people thought Lara in Tomb raider was American doing a poor english accent, but perhaps it is the rare phenomenon of art imitating life? Or maybe life imitating art.

You've got ears though, i would not be able to tell an American doing a british accent apart from a british person doing an American accent in movies unless it sometimes bleeds through, which it can at points.

We've seen Iris in the car with the bros so it's likely that she'll be a temporary party member. Especially since we now know you're forced to engage enemies that block the road. Can't see the group leaving her by herself to fight.

Same for me. I was shocked when I heard Dr. House talking with his own accent in Conan's talk show, I always thought he was American lol.

So, I enjoyed a lot about this video once I got past the parts with ugly graphics, terrible "southern" voice acting and all those weird ass cut arounds.

I liked the towns, I liked the character interactions, I liked the camp and cooking, I liked the guests, and that flirty chick, I liked the Chocobos, I liked the shops, I liked the car, I liked the animal variety, I liked the NPCs, I liked the City and I liked the little story that there was.

I liked everything basically.

Except the battles. That's the problem. The battles look boring as fuck. Game ruining boring.

But don't yall just love tumblin round with them there critters in the field down yonder? Its the bees knees i tell you what youngster, or that's what my paw paw always says ya hear?

Seriously, Cindy, きえる

Ah! There we go. I've been trying to find a way to describe why I hate Ignis' voice acting so much. This is the perfect description. The voice actor is trying too damn hard to the point that it's ridiculously unrealistic. It's as if they hired somebody who's never heard of a real British accent or something.

As for Cindy, I have yet to find anything likable about her. I don't care about her role in the story so far, and I sure as hell don't care that Prompto has a crush on her. Her accent's pretty off-putting too... But her design's really the worst. Can't stand to look at that shit. I wish she just looked like a proper mechanic, something like any of these would be significantly better:

Then maybe I wouldn't cringe so much whenever I saw her.

Both in TR and here, the phenomenon is bad direction and bad script writing (and/or bad VA).

How old is Gladio's sister? Because it's getting creepy in here. ಠ_ಠ

At least 18.

Gladilous’ younger sister. She escaped the Capital City after it was attacked by the Niflheim Empire and is now living in the city of Lestallum. She has known Noctis and Ignis since she was a child, and is a trusted friend. She is a strong girl at her core who can still be positive even in a tough situation.

Iris appears as a child in “Episode 3: Sword and Shield” of the five-episode anime special Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV. In Final Fantsay XV, she appears as a grown woman.
