Final Fantasy XV - 50 min video

They did change Ignis acting direction in the English version over time to some extend, yes. Ignis finally addressing Noctis as "Noct" for example already helps a lot. But he still feels different to Japanese Ignis. I know, there are some things that you can't exactly translate from so different languages and cultures. It's not just the words but also the tone and rythm...but I think they took too much liberties with Ignis. Why did they think it was a good idea to let English Ignis act much more distant to Noctis anyway? In the anime Japanese Ignis acts and speaks to Noctis as if he was his mom. XD

Gladio is also a character that has a pretty different feeling in English to Japanese. Japanese Gladio sounds much more lighthearted and jolly than English Gladio. There he sounds more monotone thus more serious, also overall gruffer. In Japanese he sounds like your best friend who likes to boss you around, in English he sometimes sounds straight up like a coach or a military trainer.

I think they did a good job with Prompto though...to say something positive. ;) They translated his slightly annoying but endearing Japanese persona well into how an American person of that sort would act.
Wow, this is exactly how I feel. Prompto is a great adaptation from J to E to make him equivalent in personality with less whine to his voice, but Gladio and Ignis seriously lose the warmness of their J counterparts. I'm OK with current Noctis in both languages.

Most you'll get is an "Years later Sora and Kairi have children and Riku maried Namine" lol

Ha not even that will ever happen. The most we'll get is a long hug.

You guys are way too on point with that, haha. If Sora and Kairi are a romance it will never be explored in a way that's distinguishable from deep friendship. I had figured a similar thing was going to happen with Versus XIII. Nomura, even more than Final Fantasy as a whole (which is saying something), seems uncomfortable portraying blatant or mature romance.

Doubtful. The main reason for the delay is how unstable the game is based on what people were saying in previews.

Do you know when the next ATR is? I feel like Ive seen it mentioned as it being next week or so as a recap for gamescom. Hopefully Tabata answers some concerns regarding the quality of the game. Though I doubt it.

I wouldn't hold my breath for romance in Kingdom Hearts either, if I were you.

Kairi and sora already have a 'sort of' romance from the first game. Not debatable.

As for Nomura, Nojima's gonna force his hand with FF7R regardless of whether or not your right about that

If it's indistinguishable from friendship and has to be defined as a "sort of" anything I wouldn't really count it.

Its not "indistinguishable from friendship"

Come on, Sora wanted to share a paopu from the beginning of KH1, and Kairi returned the feeling at the end. The whole point of COM was that Kairi was his most important person and so Namine had the ability to change his memories based on that due to her upbringing. Same with 358 days and why Xion looks like Kairi, same with KH2 and why Kairi was the last person Sora remembered, and again why Kairi would always go down to the beach.

God, i'm actually defending KH romance? But i would say its pretty blatant, and would be even more so if Nomura had actually featured kairi more in the games, luckily KH3 seems to be changing that

The huge thing in the beginning must surely be Ifrit : But why so humanoïd ?

Its got Ravus' face...maybe he is Ifrit? IDK but that scene is really cool.. I hope we play a significant chunk of the game as this older group. he looks so battle worn and like, he's struggling and I kind of like that...like you really have to fight against the odds as opposed to going in and beasting through it.

Where's bahamut ;_;

Id say the one with wings holding what looks to be siren is a good candidate for bahamut.

also remember this is an art piece and not what they actually look like.. although Titan is close, maybe because he is more easily visible to the people of Eos.

I was worried that the OST is going to be too KH, you know too much piano and violin but it seems she is trying some new stuff on this game.

I guess I could see that as a concern, but I love pretty much all of her music. Too much piano and violin wouldn't have been a bad thing for me really as those tend to be my favorite tracks by her, lol. I guess they can sound kinda samey sometimes though. But like Dearly Beloved and Xenoblade's main theme are some of my fav tracks ever.

One thing I can say for certain is that I'm totally going to buy the OST for this.

Yeah I rarely buy gaming OSTs, but I might with this one.

The winged guy looks a bit more like a potential Diabolos to me :P
But you're right its kinda hard to figure out here.

Its seems most of the bad graphics gripes I had were with the XB1 version. PS4 seems good if the patch improves some things.

Unfortunately even the PS4 version is not consistent in graphical quality, those desert scenes in the beginning are PS3 level stuff.....and the frame rate when you arrive with the car in Lestallum....LOL.
There are sections in which it can look impressive but it's really inconsistent.
Considering how Square Enix ditched the Luminous Engine for other projects like KH3,FFVIIR and DQXI on PS4 I guess that this engine simply needs more hardware power than what is available in current consoles to get great looking polished graphics without clear compromises.
I hope that they take advantage of the Neo.

Yeah, diablos or bahamut hard to tell. I'm surprised ultros is getting some love.

Will have to see how the finished product ends up.. I for one think that they are pushing some really great effects and scale here. one the unfortunate looking xbox one footage you can still see how good the particles are when cor is slashing his Katana in slow mo, the dirt kicking up and bouncing off the floor and leaving slash marks. the absolutely perfect motion blur too, its there but so well done it doesnt overtake the image like some other games that overdo it. the night footage against the iron giant looks very nice and smooth, and the lighting looks great. I agree that its clearly not all the way there with polish, but then again thats why its delayed.

yes, they are definitely going to include Diablos over Bahamut. for sure.

The more I see of this game the less interested I get in it. It feels every bit as soulless as FF13.

What would it cost to make a game with this engine the medieval steampunk style of 4, 5, 6, 9, even 12? A world with a sense of heart, personality and history?

You're not gonna get anything special until the later stages of the games as it starts off slow and builds itself up.

It's got a sense of heart, personality, and history IMO. I don't see what's so jarringly different and where the comparison to FFXIII is.

FFXIII starts in the Hanging Edge, which makes absolutely no sense as an actual place.

The woman is Leviathan, Siren is not a fish in FF but a woman with bird wings and a harp.

http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Siren_(summon)

so you think the giant sea serpent in the art is not leviathan? despite leviathan being a giant sea serpent. IDK siren could be a mermaid lady! not far fetched at all.

So I read in another thread that there was PC footage or screens of this? I didn't even know the PC version was confirmed! Can someone link me?

what they mean to say is that screenshots and footage has been released from the development environment on PC... not that there is a PC version being developed.

This game started development on beefy PC hardware, and was ported down to console specs.

^ This is a video from two years ago. We don't know if a build this pretty exists still, or if the eventual PC version will look like this. I really hope it does.

Nope, that is just a monster, the summons are up there (they are divine beings) while demons are crawling from the bottom.

Siren (3rd grade summon) being a god compared to legendary Leviathan is just not happening, sorry :p

Sigh... Dangit.

Thanks guys! Here is to hoping.

I still haven't really heard anything experimental from the entire XV soundtrack yet... But it's still early days.

Hamauzu's XIII tracks featured lots of electronic and pop elements interspersed with traditional symphonic fare, and it made for a really unique sound. I don't think every FF should be expected to have that (XIII was pushing this extreme sci-fi look that made it appropriate), but every FF should have uniquely experimental tunes that evoke another world.

I haven't really heard that in what's released from XV yet.. But Shimomura has delivered "experimental", many times over, so I trust her...

I guess with that interpretation then yeah the fish lady could be representing levi.

They excluded Ifrit from the painting so...

they may not know about his existence? this is an interpretation of lucian legend..maybe theres more to it than they know.

Stuff like XV's Prelude is what I want to hear more of, but I don't know how much that will fit into the game.

Yes the engine is capable, it can do nice things, nice lighting, shaders, effects. But it's not born/optimized to work under the restrictions of PS4/XB1 hardware. It's a PC engine.
To make the game run at decent frame rates they are clearly making compromises setting certain features in low quality mode. Sometimes when it's possible they change the quality settings and you can tell the differences (the hair for example has both a heavy dithered low quality mode and a high quality mode). It's like a PC game where you can tell that it might look amazing if only you had a decent graphics card :D
I doubt that they are going to upgrade graphics in the final version, that's the level thay have decided to settle with and changing things would require further testing and optimizations. The 2 months delay is to get rid of bugs, freezes and big frame rate drops in specific areas which happen even with the current level of graphics.
Until they make a proper PC version, Neo version is the only chance to see graphical upgrades this year.

Ok so after finally getting the higher bitrate video. I can most definitely see why people consider this game disappointing as hell when it comes to visuals.

It's not a super pretty looking game that's for sure.
