Titanfall 2 Multiplayer Technical Test Impressions (XB1/PS4)

I'll be frank: I was expecting TF2 to be like MW2 - a crazier version of TF1. MW2 took everything from COD4 and dialed it up 10 times.

It was gaming bliss.

Yea, no.

The timer for 2:30 minutes that counts down in titanfall1, was nice because if you were not killing titans or pilots you could still kill grunts to decrease the time.

This now is purely only on player performance. Which sucks.

Glad you like it, but your in this thread seriously touting this game as great when a lot of the veteran players who have hundred's of hours invested in titanfall 1 have serious issues with it that are 100% valid.

And with no bots around this makes it harder to collect points toward your Titan.
Are you anti bot people happy?

I haven't tried the game yet but I'm really disappointed by these impressions. As someone who only has a PS4, I've been waiting essentially three years to try Titanfall. The negative impressions from Titanfall 1 players are reallly putting a damper on my excitement.

Here's another issue I have. Out of Bounds zones. I never had an issue in the first game but I'm constantly hitting no go zones. Especially on the smaller urban map (forgot the name).

I never understood the bot hate myself. Yes, they were dumb, but every once in awhile someone would die to one and the whole party would roll over laughing. They were great to populate the large spaces and help build up your titan/super bars.

There is one on X1

How do you join it?

They've definitely been implemented into maps in these odd areas because of campers with snipers. Because the game has been slowed down a lot and is now more open, it would be easy picking for these guys if they hid on a ledge in some bushes. I've noticed a lot of these areas on Homestead.

For a game centered around Titans they are fucking up by making it take so long to get one in this game. They need to go back to the old formula, this new shit sucks.

I like the way Titans work now you a arent gifted Titans on a timer anymore I like that.

Also make sure to pick up a battery before you get into your Titan for more health. It's fun having to look for batteries when you're health gets low cuz you have to exit the Titan I dig the risk vs reward.

I do wish you had more forward momentum with out sliding you can't really bunny hop off wall runs without stim.

lol you don't actually believe that do you?

In case you do somehow, yes, yes we did. I played it a lot initially.

It feels like the anti-bot people are similar to folks who play a MOBA as if it is a death-match; they never adapted to the tactics and strategies because they kept thinking of the game in terms of previous games rather than as a new type of game.

I'm genuinely curious to get my hands on Titanfall 1 (never played it) because I really dig what I've played so far in this tech test. Love the movement, love the pilot/titan loop, love getting up on top of enemy titans, stealing their battery and then shoving it into a friendly titan, etc. etc.

Veterans know this game better than anyone, so I'll take your word for it that some of the things in this one are inferior to the last one. But as far as this n00b can tell, it's a blast.

I imagine Respawn will listen to your thoughts, so keep complaining, but make it constructive.

I could only play for a few matches but it feels great to run around and wall run again.
That being said the time to kill is way too low it feels like once you start getting shot it's already too late to do anything.

I've only played one match so take this with a grain of salt but from someone who loved Titanfall 1, I'm really not digging TF2.

The HUD during Bounty Hunter is disgusting, way too much going on.

I never played the first Titanfall but I am having a Blast with Titanfall 2. I went from not considering picking it up prior to the technical test but after playing I am now thinking about it. If the first one was so good why did the PC Xbox One community die off so fast?

Lack of content/reason to keep playing. The vast majority of people that quit early into its lifecycle would agree the games foundations were amazing. It's not the gameplay or the mechanics people had issues with, it was the amount of content.

Popularity is not a sign of quality first of all.

As far as why did the PC community decrease quickly, I have no idea why that happened. The lack of willingness by many to buy a game on Origin rather than Steam didn't help, nor did those who actively tried to discount the game's worth due to it being a $60 title with no single-player and a requirement of online-only (credited to a need for cloud computing) when the protest against the Xbox One's original design was at its firey peak.
Others couldn't enjoy the game without the bait of a weapon upgrade being unlocked.

Welp, won't be home during the open bêta but the situation reminds me of Mass Effect and MS lack of support for the (lesser) sequel

Tho I mighty keep playing halo5 and enjoué thé much requested solo campaign.

Another reason is the PC version didn't have a server browser/rentable servers either. Relying on matchmaking is not something a lot of PC gamers want. Same with Battlefront as well.

The game is slowed down a lot? Nooooooooooooo! Well, I'll find out after work. .

Do yourself a favor: Don´t play Titalfall 1, after you played the Beta of Titanfall 2. I just played some rounds of Attrition and Hardpoint on Xbox One and oh boy, TF1 is a whole different game than TF2. Much faster, much more action, war everywhere. TF2 is very dull in comparison.

Movement speed and wall running are roughly the same as R1, but the map design and gamemodes force you to slow down if you want to do well. It plays more like a CoD game where you have to hold down an area.

That's exactly what I'm planning on doing.

I dont understand the whole lack of spectres thing. I just saw a fair few spectres in my last game. Was gutted when I read they had been removed but from what I see they are still in the game in some capacity.

Ignore me just read they are in bounty mode

Only in Bounty Hunt where they are used to farm currency. They are absent for all other modes as of now.

I still think it feels pretty good. The lack of ai and no music in the test version is whats making it feel emptier to me.

Yeah, no one is talking about the lack of great background music. It was one of the first things I noticed was missing.

Key word being initially. How did the bots detract from the game?

The main complaint bot haters had was that it was too easy to farm grunts and then dominate the entire match with your Titan, which in theory sounds plausible but you just didn't see it that much in matches. And that is one of the reasons grunts were there anyways, to help reduce build time and give you more shit to shoot at. Pilot Hunter sounded like a good idea but when you actually played it it was kind of boring.
