The Witcher III: Blood & Wine |OT| One last contract, one last plough

true but you have every opportunity to make guards stop her IMO.
Anyway, I got the good one in my normal playthrough, this one I checked only out of curiosity.
Also I think there is one more with geralt in jail or something?

Yep.
If Syanna dies then Geralt goes to jail

Just realized that the game is set way to early for the
fairy tales
.

The world of The Witcher isn't Earth, though, so I don't think so? And according to what Ciri told us after we find her, it would seem like Earth's definitely way past the 13th century, or whatever century The Witcher's world is at the time.

Apparently The Witcher 3 is set in 1272. It's never seemed like that to me. The art trends for one were definitely newer.

For fellow PC players; is it possible to play the Witcher 3 in a different language? (specifically from the voice actors?) My copy is from GOG, not STEAM fyi.

Thinking of switching from English to French or German.

There's no "at the time" - Ciri can travel through both space and TIME, so she could've visited Earth at any point in its history, since she was jumping around randomely (at least in the books).

I'm at Tesham Mutna now. This is the end isn't it?

Not sure how soon I'll finish it. I've been playing the game on and off since May last year, it'll be so weird to have no new Witcher content to look forward to. Never played the first two games though...

If this gets a 60fps patch for PS4K/Neo I will buy it just for the Witcher.

There is a chance you would enjoy 2nd one or even 1st. Give them a try.

Yes, easily. You can download the Multi-Language Pack from GOG and change VA and/or subtitles in the in-game Options menu. Too bad that there doesn't seem to be a way to download the single languages separately.

GOG has Witcher 3 on sale, I haven't played or purchased any of Witcher 3 yet, should I buy it now on GOG or wait for the GOTY edition?

AFAIK there should be little difference between a fully patched regular version and the 'complete edition', for PC (assuming you bought the expansions/expansion pack, too). I believe the regular version will be receiving the same final patches alongside the complete edition release.

Not sure how the complete edition will be priced at launch digitally.

Is it possible to get a good, or at least not terrible ending after doing
badass vampire
path?

I've just replayed last part of the expansion and looks like no matter what I say in the end
anarietta dies
.

Despite the outcome in my game, I feel like it was a fittingly tragic/bittersweet sort of ending. It felt earned and in keeping with the overall story. It was masterful, IMO.

Thats also how i feel. The emotional impact of that ending is kind of what i wanted out of that story arc. It felt mature and well told. I think my long journey with the Witcher is officially done now that i've beaten both dlc. Its been a long 1 and a half year run. Its a shame that housing and villa stuff didn't come early in the game instead of the end of the final dlc. I usually like that type of stuff in games, but it just came too late for me to care. It would have been nice to have a place to come back to upgrade and call home.

Did anybody els notice that in during the BaW dlc you could instantly refill your health and potions at anytime by doing a meditation? Even during a battle where it says something about how you cant meditate here, if you just try to meditate it still refills your health to max and gives you refills even though you didn't meditate. I guess it was a bug.

Have started this now on my new RX480 Nitro+ which arrived the other day. Don't think I'm hitting 60fps with everything turned up but goddamn the game looks good, I'm blown away.

Really enjoying being back in the game too. My game saves show I haven't played the game since about last November, can't believe it's that long, so trying to remember the controls and how to fight and all that. Just have done the first few main story quests, every bit as good as I expected. Going to be quite sad when I finish this tbh, probably my favourite game ever.

Alright, I'll try them both although I'll probably skip to 2.

So just finished Blood and Wine after playing at a very slow pace to avoid the conclusion,
can't say I felt it (the ending of Blood and Wine) was the best possible ending for Geralt's story, with the focus being on the sisters forgiving each other. And it doesn't feel quite complete without Ciri, who I didn't have visit, and was odd/open-ended with Yennefer always being available to talk but with nothing new to say. I'm thinking maybe the Unseen Elder path might have been the more interesting one. It's nice that Geralt actually got a happy ending with Yennefer, at the same time I kind of want to see an ending more in the spirit of RDR.
Still, the expansion delivers at the highest calibre set by The Wild Hunt, even if it didn't quite hit the perfect note at the end. Still got the equine phantom and other quests to go, and I already want to restart the game ASAP.

Can't imagine any other single player game remaining so compelling and well done as long as TW3. Zelda certainly won't do it. BioWare makes crap game these days. There's really nothing on the horizon that looks like it will come anywhere close.

Well, I won't spoil anything in case you want to play it yourself, but if you felt the closure wasn't that satisfying for Geralt, choosing that other option probably wouldn't have changed much.

The quality of this expansion is really good, the structure is quite weird. At least based on the two hours I've played of it so far.

1. Just as in the base game, you're presented with an open world, but the main quests put an emphasis on Geralt always being in a hurry, and time being of the essence. I hope Geralt gets a chance to catch his breath soon.
2. Four boss fights in the first two hours?

And? The player has the choice whether to chase that urgency or not. Much better than the alternative of not giving the player the choice at all.

And? I think it's an aspect that can be done diffently and better. As good as CD Projekt's games are, there are still plenty of room for improvement.

And how do you suggest they do that? That is a common problem with open world games. The only way they can enforce that kind of urgency is to implement timed quests. And that, imo, is much worse.

This was an amazing expansion.
My girlfriend who watches me play every now and then literally teared up on the last shot of Geralt looking at the camera.
A fitting end to one hell of a game and series. Going to miss it.
I like to think Toussaint is where Geralt decides to settle down for his retirement. Rest well my dude.

Wow the mission with the spotted wight.

If you save Marlene when Barnabas is explaining what happened the Gaunter O'Dimm theme plays because he's the one who cursed her. I figured it was him because the notes you get in the house definitely point that way but when the theme kicked in it was definitely a "Holy shit" moment. Apparently some think that Regis was talking about O'Dimm when he said there was a power that could summon a higher vampire.

I think a lot of people thought that was the higher power he was talking about at the time—so did I—but it ended up being something else.

[EDIT] - Probably shouldn't even tag that.

I bought the season pass way back when the game just released, but I barely started playing blood and wine 2 weeks ago, having a blast with it. Been too busy with the sidquest and have not progressed much in the story so far, heh.

Great stuff though!

Yeah, I played a bunch yesterday and got to the part where they talk about it. I'm just looking for that theme to pop up again, he could be anywhere and I really pissed him off in HoS haha. This expansion really is something. I put off playing it for so long, took a break to play other games after only playing the main game + HoS for like 5 months straight, now I'm back in the swing and I went and bought all the Witcher books. Can't let this universe go, I almost don't want to finish.

the only thing i find disappointing in the Witcher games is that we never got to visit Nilfgaard And the city of Golden towers .

we only ever see soldiers and Vip's from Nilfgaard but we never get to see and experience what daily live looks like there for the average Joe .

everything i read about the place makes it's sound like a more advanced nation compared to the northern realms .
something like Nilgaard is in the middle of the renaissance while the northern realms are still stuck in the middle ages .

maybe i am completely wrong on that but still .. i would have loved to see whether or not Nilfgaard is truly the soulless " no fun allowed " empire the games make it sound to be .

A Witcher game set in the Nilfgaard would be interesting. We've had the books and the games set in the Northern Realms, why not go into a different corner of the world in the future?

Just finished the expansion. Man, it was fucking masterful. It seems like I got the bad ending, yet it was perfectly appropiate.

Annarietta died for trying to put her sister above the law, and Syanna deserved to die for being the cause of many of the deads in Beauclair.

Anyone done the treasure hunt quest: Applied escapology? Seems another broken quest for me. Got the key to this chest, opened the chest and quest hasn't completed.

A big flaw of witcher games for me. Lack of polish. At least the devs have passion for the game and clearly do put the effort in where they can.

Annoyingly, this bug is still present. Reloading a save and opening the chest second-to-last did the trick, though.

Today I completed B&W. I did every sidequest in the main game, HoS and B&W, clocking in almost 180 hours. I guess I'll be around the 200 mark when I'm done with the remaining POI (only miss like 30 in Skellige and 15ish in Toussaint).

What can I say, this is by far the best game I've ever played... and I'm not the youngest of gamers, I'm 35 and went through lots of platforms. But I never put this much time in a single game, I usually get tired after the first 15 hours or so (which I think is the perfect amount of time a game should last). It's not that this was perfect, it had its issues (mandatory narration screens and cutscenes before fallible events above all), and some glitches, but it did so many things right that it's easy to forgive the few shortcomings.

I played on death march, and the only time I got frustrated was against the guy before the Eredin, and the
Toad Prince
in HoS. All the other fights, including
the one against Detlaff
, seemed fair and could be won using the right tools. I'm at loss for words to describe how much I liked this game, so I'm done

Anyway, as for endgame state:

MAIN GAME:
Ciri has become a witcher, Radovid is dead, Nilfgaard took over Redania, Ceryl is ruling Skellige, Keira is alive and adventuring with Lambert, Geralt has ended up with Triss.
HOS:
I sided with David Beckham... er I meant Olgierd, and defeated O'Dimm
B&W:
Syanna and Anna Henrietta reconciled, I killed Detlaff, Regis is banned from Toussaint by his fellow vampires, Triss shows up at Corvo Bianco to live happily ever after

Such a great game!

Everything was fine until TRISS.

REEEEEEEEEEE

Just beat the game earlier today. All I have to say is... hook Cyberpunk 2077 straight to my veins.

CDPR have a fan for life in me after the entire TW3 experience.

Trying to beat the last boss, but not sure I'm going to bother.

Level 51 character, done pretty much everything in the expansion, rocking pretty good Witcher gear. And Detlaff still kills me in two strikes in the second phase. I really hate bosses in games
.

You won't wanna miss the ending. It's totally worth it, trust me.
Just keep dodging him.

Just so f*cking annoying to be killed so easily, and have to redo everything. Might just change the difficulty to the lowest setting.

Also annoying that
you get different options for how to handle the situation after Detlaff attacks the city, and you choose what you think is the least confrontional option - going after Syanna. And after running and fighting through the land of thousand fables for that, you still end up having to fight Detlaff.

It was a tough fight for sure, I must admit that I got bit frustrated also. I basically knew what I was doing wrong but couldn't get it right. So I dropped down the difficulty one notch. Beat the boss on one try then and felt kinda bad for it, but that regret quickly vanished when I got to see what was waiting for me in the end.

Dear GAF, maybe someone can help me? I played Hearts of Stone a long time ago and just wanted to start with Blood and Wine on PS4 (Pro). Unfortunately I can't. I have the (German) retail version of Witcher 3 and bought the limited retail releases of HOS and BOW (package contains a DLC) and when I try to start BOW the game tells me that HOS is missing and I can't use my save without it. The PSN tells me HOS is downloaded, when I remove everything from my console, install Witcher 3 and everything else again I get the same problem. The strange part: After removing everything PSN says HOS is still installed.

Maybe someone else had a similiar problem? No answer from the customer support until today :-(

Are the expansions German SKUs, too? It sounds like there's a region mismatch, which is an annoying problem and something Sony should have sought to eliminate with the PS4.
